No. I can smell the desperation on the bitches who do these shoots from my computer. If I was going to do a boudoir shoot I would do it in a studio with pretty lingerie and a professional photographer. Not some sweaty Asian in a hotel room with a average DSLR and a costume.

Most ppl are ok with the idea of women doing boudoir shoots. However you should strive for some fucking standards when doing it. Shitty hotel lighting, bad lingerie, terrible poses and facial expressions make these shoots on par with fucking PT and her gravure stuff.

Its funny because these bad photogs doing the shoots are doing this shit all wrong. Most Boudoir photos arent done 'After Dark'. They are done in natural light to enhance the softness of the image. Christ I'm not a photog and I can figure this shit out.

I've done a few, always with the same photographer.

It was fun, I was with other friends so the atmosphere was not "creepy guy shooting a girl alone in a room" and I decided how I posed and how little I wore.

I rarely share the photos online because it's not exactly the type of cosplay material I want to be known for, but still, these shoots can be a lot of fun when done with a good photographer and with friends.

Basically what you want to do with any longer wig is to either braid it loosely (preferred on straight wigs) or tie a loose cotton ribbon around it and eventually curl the long "ponytail" or braid inside the wig net when you are not using the wig.
When storing or taking a wig into use, brush it gently with a tangle teaser brush starting from the tip of the hair, NOT from the top of the wig.
And I can't seriously recommend those tangle teaser combs enough, they work miracles on both real and synthetic hair.
If you want to make sure your wig won't get as tangled, buy a hair conditioner or a tangle removing spray (excuse me, English isn't my first or second language so I lack better terms) that preferably has some silicone in it. I think Frank Provost brand has some, though it is costly.
Some people also swear by certain silicone sprays that you can buy from hardware stores, but they tend to leave this sort of a coarse feeling on the wig, which doesn't really effect the overall look though.
I'll try to find a few good tutorials and maybe put up a wig thread once I haven't been awake for two days straight.

Nitpicking but the building is wrecked by the post on the right. Really messed up the framing imo which isnt even centered nor off centered enough for rule of thirds. Also I am a bit bothered by the parking spot lines not sure why. I would have had the cosplayer stand on the line maybe and then angled the camera to try and cut out the post. There are some universals

1. As stated earlier we dont hate the concept just the actual product. If good photos come out then hey that's awesome

2. Pick characters that actually would be suited for this kind of shoot. Cathrine, DoA, more "sultry" characters would be great for this. Doing a Pokemon After Dark shoot or a Disney shoot screams "I WANT TO BE POPULAR!"
3. Please don't film a video, it's like these After Dark Shoots are just another version of CMVs. Really the photos are what matter the most and shooting a video can distract you from the final product.
4. Understand your lighting and don't just fill the place with equipment. As a novel idea shoot when there's daylight.

Honestly, if you're going to do it, do a proper Boudoir photoshoot.
1. Pick a nice location, not just a sleazy hotel room.
2. Make sure the girls have on high-quality lingerie/underwear, not some shitty mismatched lace panty set.
3. Do it in daylight. Natural light is so much nicer for that kind of thing
4. pick up a book on how to actually pose models, in order to get the best out of their body type. (don't do >>7866377)

1.Glad you like the concept- but is it the cosplay and the cosplayer not up to par? We try to have fun with the shoots and not really go for A-list cosplayers like J-Nig so we really just get cosplayers who are up for it- granted some filtering. The cosplay quality will obviously not be amazing since like most un-sponsored cosplayers wont have the funds to make an amazing cosplay- so when we plan these shoots we sometimes go for the best representation or accurate clothing items that are already well made but it is entirely up to the cosplayer.

We actually did shoot a Catherine shoot as shown earlier in the thread- but yes i do understand what you are saying. seeing a character that is out of character, right? buuuut let's say if we we're to be more creative- like let's mention an earlier post- 'pin-up style', would that be more appropriate for a Disney-twist shoot? we see sexy pin-up versions all the time on teh internets and people love them. i think it would be a novel idea to bring those to life. I look for creativity in everything-- just look at my other videos too-- they're drowned in it.

3.The video is really just for fun so i can just film my friends having fun with their cosplay so don't take it seriously... but DO take my editing seriously haha that's my pride and joy trade. I really do like filming After Dark but i hardly get any time to film since i don't want to break the photo flow. most of the time a night will be 80% photos and 20% filming. And also we have a crunched schedule so i really only have about 5 to 7 mins within the 1 to 1 1/2 time slot until the next cosplayer. But if this is more a photo issue then we can just ignore all this ^^^^^

4. We've been experimenting on lighting and hard contrasts and stuff like that but that is Masamune's field. as for me i stick with my 2 stand led panels which honestly isn't ideal but does what i need them to-- light a very under-lit area, a fly cam and a jib. We should do a Morning After Dark to get that early morning glow- that would be interesting...

Hi there! I'd like to give some constructive criticism as well if that's alright.

Honestly I'm fine with the whole 'After Dark Shoot' thing, but I feel like the videos and photos are a little bit one trick pony. In terms of that I mean it's just a little too glamour modelling focused and I'd really like to see some diversity.

On the video end I'd say I'd love to see the editing slowed down and less party music and on the photography end some softer lighting and focus I think would be really beautiful.

I know that perfect cosplay models are difficult to find but I think a more romantic boudoir style might actually accommodate more, both for different cosplays and as some of the models in both the photos and videos really come across as trying too hard to get into that 'party,' glamour model zone. A good example of what I'm talking about would be something more like Masamunes 'Katherine', shots. A boudoir session has a completely different feel and I think a lot of girls would be more into that relaxed, romantic state.

My last comment is, I think it'd look great if you get more girls standing up and not laying down, it can be unflattering and if you get the models to pose standing you can pose all sorts of ways in lingerie to make the form look elongated.

I'm late to the party. But I'm a photographer and my 2 cents is that after dark photo shoots are a fun concept, I just wish that the photographers were a bit more creative with it.
The photos are so drab and just for the photographer to get some tits and ass shots.

I do professional boudoir shoots irl, and although I'm sure the shoots are fun, they are just nothing special.

If you call it 'After Dark' you're not a photographer. That's a term used by GWCs. Any actual photographer or even a total amateur who has at least done some vague research will call it a boudoir shoot, the same as it's been called since the dawn of photography.

But looking at these pictures you can tell they're all taken by the most amateur fuckwads to begin with so maybe the terminology they use is irrelevant.

It's real fucking easy to light somebody in a flattering way. Even if they're never going to look very attractive because they're just too pig ugly and fat you can still light them well. It's super easy to buy an 85mm lens or something around that length and get at least a little flattering compression going on, even if you don't have the room to frame the shot with a 135mm or longer lens. It takes no effort to check your colors are flattering and you're focusing on the right bits. Anybody with working eyeballs can look at a pose or expression and tell if it's a good look for that subject or not.

And stop with the fucking Dutch angles. Nothing screams "doesn't know how to make a photo interesting" more than abusing Dutch angles.

And it's super obvious a lot of these girls aren't really comfortable with what they're doing. Which is either their fault for buying into something they don't have their heart in or the photographer's fault for not putting them at ease. Either way there is no reason to have people looking so awkward and unsure of themselves.
