When does uniboob become boobloaf? I find myself getting slight uniboob in a lot of dresses that should fit me. Is pic related normal/okay? I apologize in advance for the shitty camera phone pic.

>> No.7826868

>>7826861
Everyone gets a little uniboob just because of the structure of pretty much all lolita dresses. It really only becomes boobloaf when a crease starts to form underneath your boobs making them look like a weird bulging load in your dress. Having trouble finding an example sorry :( But you can usually tell because a boobloaf casts a shadow.

>> No.7826883

>>7826861

Oh my god, I would never notice the uniboob because the violin design is so perfectly displayed over it.

>was this IW's plan all along?
>hide uniboobs with anti-boob designs

Sorry, I don't really know how to answer your question. My boobs do all kinds of weird things in IW from forming uniboobs, boobloafing, not fitting at all, and once, forming two very flat, round boob pancakes on my chest in a very flat IW dress. I think it's only a problem when you look in the mirror and go "wtf is happening with my boobs?"

If it doesn't actually look weird, I wouldn't worry about it. If you want to know whether it looks weird, ask for a second opinion from your friends, or censor and self post here. Personally I think you like all right in that dress, if only because the design doesn't even look like boobs.

I think this looks like boobloaf to me but from the thumbnail I couldn't tell because basically of what >>7826883 said. The fact the bosom looks low on the bodice does it for me.

My boobs are kind of low anyways (not saggy, but like lowly placed, I guess), and I feel like the highwaist design might not be as flattering as the other cut. The bodice on this one looked a lot cuter than the other, though, so I went for it. I'm below even the low end of the bust measurement but have decent boobs.
I'm also incredibly insecure about how my chest looks in things since their aforementioned weird placement, so I might be oversensitive to it as well.

I tried to show the fit a bit better. Sorry about the tiny image.

Is there a history behind this girl I'm unaware of?

Going off the the sales post alone, this looks like a good move to me, since all the itas she posts on her lolita panel are made up by her, she won't accidentally insult or shame anybody. At the same time it gives lolita a chance to unload their ita items for a better cause than letting loose another ita into the world. Comparisons between replicas and the real thing are always welcome, too, it's educational for newbies and interesting for elder lolitas.

>> No.7827249

>>7827231
I think she posted in the bst, she's doing a panel and wants to show people the differences between shit and brand. It doesn't sound snotty imo, much better than lolita panels where you just get shown pictures of the dos and donts 'cause then you get people who say
>it looks good quality in the picture and when I got it it's an ita lace monster
>but replicas aren't worse quality than burando
So asking for replicas of her own dresses isn't really snotty because then she has an actual side by side comparison.

Hey Classy Ladies, need some help with chiffon blouses. I love how elegant and feminine they look, but I'm having a hard time finding good chiffon blouses. Nothing up on brand, not a lot of chiffon in Axes Femme in this fall season, and some of the chiffon blouses I saw on TaoBao were a little too over the top for my personal taste in terms of frills. I'm looking for something with a bit more of a sleek look, more Victorian and a little less Shirley Temple. Any recommendations on places to look? Tried Modcloth but they didn't have much (and their quality can be extremely iffy,) and google searches just landed with the same old, same old bland blouses you can get at Macy*s.

In my old apartment I got natural sunlight that came in to my bedroom really nicely so I could take nice flat photos of my wardrobe and stuff but I moved and this apartment gets zero natural light thanks to trees and other buildings. Pic related is the easiest reflector, it's just cardboard covered in foil. you use it by angling it so that the light is directed into the shadows so they don't look so dark, which is what you mentioned your problem was. It might be harder to make one big enough to photograph dresses, though.

The diffuser is harder to make, the purpose of the diffuser is to scatter the light so that the shadows look fuzzy and don't have a clear outline, giving your photos a softer look.

There's a whole page of lighting reflectors and diffusers here that you can try, maybe one of them will suit your needs
http://www.diyphotography.net/how-to-build-24-diy-softboxes/

Or, if you have the space for them, you could just go out and get a pro studio setup -- umbrella lighting and all.

I don't normally pop into this general, but it seems the most logical place to ask seeing as how the help thread is just full of cosplayers. I hope no one minds. I came across a beautiful book print lolita dress online, and I'm contemplating purchasing it for just normalfag wear - catch - it's by Dream of Lolita. I've been warned by actual lolita wearers that they're not to be trusted, but my question is just how bad are we talking here? Once the print doesn't look like I printed it off on a printer myself (low quality blurry print), and the seams are ok, and there's no terrible shiny material, I'm pretty happy to wear it. Think Target/Walmart/JCPenney quality and above as passable. I've looked at some online reviews but all I've found is actual pictures of the full dress rather than up close details. Can anyone advise me on whether they're wearable for a normalfag/daily wear please?

When does Innocent World usually release their Winter lucky packs? I've been eyeing pic related in green for a while now, but since it doesn't look like it will sell out before the end of the summer sale, I'm wondering if I should wait til lucky pack season and see if I can scoop it up secondhand for cheaps.

(a) find a space to change at the place you're going to. You don't need to be in "normal clothes", just pack most of the OTT stuff and accessories, and find a private-ish place where you can put them on and update your makeup in peace. Reverse the process upon leaving (makeup removal wipes are useful)

(b) It's September, so actually, responding with "early Halloween party, duh" is appropriate.

>lacemarket
>sold skirt that has the word "black" in the print name
>in the listing, i clearly write "in DARK PINK"
>proof photos CLEARLY show that my skirt is dark pink, not black
>buyer left positive feedback
>but feedback comments as good as a neutral/negative
>buyer claimed i falsely advertised the skirt as black, and that the skirt sizing was smaller than i had listed
>message buyer asking about it
>she insisted that i gave inaccurate information about the sizing
>as for the colourway issue she said "i understand" but did nothing to rectify the feedback
>i'm pissed, but i asked as politely as possible, if she would change her feedback, because i did not lie about the skirt at all. i explained the misunderstanding as nicely as possible
>she replied insisting that the skirt was too small
>i told her, if that's the case please measure it
>one month passed, nothing from her
>i sent a new message, explaining that even if she doesn't get back to me, i do intend to leave her feedback, and i would state her post-sales communication wasn't good

>she finally replies today
>turns out the skirt is 3cm smaller than what i listed according to her measurements
>my mind is thinking wtf fucking 3cm and she left such shit feedback
>but i forgot to state in my sales terms to allow ~3cm human error in measurements for this specific skirt sale
>my ass isn't covered

how should i proceed? i'm pissed, but even if she doesn't want to change the feedback, i still want MY side of the story on the feedback page. i feel like this is so unfair. if she had asked me for a partial refund before leaving feedback, i would have gladly done it to shut her mouth over the 3cm error and her lack of reading comprehension. but she left feedback without even telling me which really pissed me off.

i'm refraining myself from lashing out at her, and i still want to be as polite and courteous to her as possible.

I would get a mod involved, personally. It's obvious that you did nothing wrong and this girl is being sandy, but I think that would be the best way to proceed at this point since the buyer obviously doesn't want to change her feedback.

>> No.7831646

>>7831616

Are the feedback on lacemarket changeable? I thought someone once came on here needing mod intervention to delete a feedback or something.

Anyway, personally I'm not really sure a mod would be willing to get into the thick of things listening to two girls argue online about a skirt she can't see in person, although it might be a good idea to contact one first and see if there's something else you should be doing.

As for leaving her feedback, if you stick to the facts (ie- buyer thought skirt was dark pink even though photos and description states otherwise, complained about 3cm measurement discrepency and left unfavorable feedback without communicating first), and then follow up with whether or not other parts of the transaction went all right (eg- whether she paid on time or answered shipping/address questions quickly), then there's very little that the buyer can complain about, since it's all factual.

You've actually just missed the bulk of summer sales. There's still some stuff left on btssb, IW and Meta (AP took their sales off their site already) if you want to buy now. The secondhand prices on yja and mbok are starting to come back up as well, they'll probably be higher next month.

Next sales period will be around New Year's, as other anon says. There'll be more special sets/lucky packs around then as well, as AP and btssb tend to put out like five or six different LPs eachs.

For taobao stuff, there's no difference; I know some taobao brands release lucky packs but they don't seem to follow any kind of season, and I've rarely seen taobao brands do a sale. Just avoid the Chinese holidays because the entire country including the shop, the post and your SS will take off and stop responding to you.

Waist ties, if you have a lot of trouble with it, get a big clothespin. Begin the first this-over-that part of the knot, then put the clothespin where you want the bow and adjust until the clothespin look centred on your back. Take the bow off at the waist buttons, lay it out in front of you, tie your bow, remove the clothespin, then button it back.

I just ordered my first JSK, Bodylines Squirrel Party in Sax, something simple, just to see if I like the Lolita look on myself, but I have no idea what else to wear with it, I have petticoats already, but I'm clueless on shoes, blouses, accessories and wigs ect.

>> No.7832251

>>7832225
well, sweet lolita isn't rocket science, basically you want to pick a color theme and stick with it for almost everything. It doesn't have to be the color of the dress, but that's a good start. So sax, or squirrel party has some pink in the print, so you could pick pink as well. Just buy a bunch of stuff in that color. Sax shoes, sax headbow, sax blouse (white or pink is fine here too) sax purse. Legwear can be sax or something like white tights or white ankle socks. And for the wig, a lot of new lolitas are attracted to fun colors but you can't go wrong with a natural color, like blonde, brown, black or red. If you do want a fun color, I would get something that mixes your theme color with another color, instead of just straight up going with the theme color. So like sax and brown, or even sax and lavender though it's riskier.

The biggest trick is to not mix in a lot of colors. I wouldn't even try to make a coord with 3 colors (not including small accents, like lettering on socks) until you've made a few other successful coords. The more you repeat 1 or 2 colors the better.

Sure! I know bodyline has a lot of sax stuff so hopefully you can find some good stuff. Also, I said don't do 3 colors, but that sounds a little strict I don't think white counts as a color and sometimes wigs or small accessories are okay. I just see a lot of newbies do stuff like accessorize a skirt that has green, red, pink, yellow, blue in it with like, red shoes, a pink purse, a yellow head bow, blue tights etc it's very messy. Some white tights with a pink and sax coord is fine though.

I wish something more central and self-policed like Lacebook would pop up again. Except instead of the friend-of-a-friend invitation system it would have something like an honor system where you can only post outside of the newbie areas after accumulating a certain number of 'likes' or whatever. Like there would be a Q&A forum and a OOTD forum for people to ask/answer questions and post their own pictures, and when enough people appreciate your contributions you can join the rest of the community.

If I was just a little better at coding, I would love to make something like Lacebook. I remember when this conversation first popped up and I ended up imagining all the features the website could have.
> Customizable profile with stickers and fonts like IMVU + scenekids dot com. About Me, Style Inspiration, Hobbies / Interests, links to other social media, etc.
> Gallery / portfolio similar to Lookbook where you can post outfit shots, with Lolibrary integration so you can tag the brand & name of all the different items in your coord. Maybe even an app for this so you could upload from your phone?
> Wardrobe gallery like Poupee Girl, earn virtual currency to buy stickers
> Forum sections like beginners area, local forums (which can be moderated & created by people who live in those areas), lifestyle section, tutorial forum, a forum for each brand, etc.
> "Subscribe" to different brands so you can get immediate updates when they announce a release
> Friends list, private messaging, etc. Can comment on people's pages, like & comment their outfit shots, etc.
> News feed where you can make status or promote (reblog) other peoples OOTD so your friends see them too.
> WTB feature where you can list prints / items you're looking to buy. Selling section with Lacemarket integration.
There's probably more I could think of, too. I just don't want to get my hopes up, I suppose.
I just think the more features the "hub" would have, the more people would be drawn to it. Integrating it with other popular websites would also affirm its status as a nexus of sorts.

I'm not sure, which is the biggest issue. I'm fine with making websites, graphics, and interfaces on their own, but once it gets down to having users interact with the website and the server storing all that information to display to other people, that's where I get lost. I've taken several courses on website design and coding, but they've only covered how to build and display what you like, not necessarily make an interactive platform. I'd assume it would have to do a lot with variables and of course Javascript.
I wish I knew just a little more, even just enough where I might accidentally figure out how to do it.

I have a pretty solid collection of Pettis so I'll give you my rundown (on phone so excuse any terrible typos!)

>AP petti from Dream Fantasy LP
My go to cupcake petti, has kept up the poof and is the perfect length for almost all of my dresses that need a cupcake shape for any brand I have
>CP bell petti
This used to be my main petti until I got the AP one. It has a great shape and poof, but the lining is annoying and wrinkles and rides up pretty easily when worn, also a touch longer than my ap one so I can't use it with as many dresses
>Dear Celine frothy petti
My first cupcake petti which I loved but deflated and sits lumpy under a dress now, took about a year for this to happen. I have another embroidered cupcake petti from them as well but the poof is mediocre even though its really pretty, but I hardly wear it
>IW light pannier
This is a very light petti I use for layering that I really love and use it over my AP or CP Pettis to just give a bit more smooth shape
>malco modes 582
I have only worn this once because I never altered it but it was a nice petti for a tea length a-line look
>baby long, light pannier
I use this with empire waisted, shorter sweet dresses like dream sky, give a light poof and doesn't slip down when I wear it above my waist, works really well with the built in petti with dream sky, misty sky, etc
>cp daily a-line
Unusable, bought new via ss from CP and constantly the tiers separate, it smells weird even after washing, and the material is lumpy and never relaxed even after light steaming and hanging, I need to trash it
>cp explosive a-line
Also has problems with holes but not as bad, is too much poof for most of my skirts, but gives a perfect 'stock' looking a-line poof. I wear it with my fully princess seamed a-line dresses. This thing is a fucking monster
>Victorian Girl dress eBay petti
I used to wear this all the time, it gives a decent bell shape but is in reality more of an a-line, good for price

>> No.7832933

hey anon, I had the procedure done when I was in high school, before I went on birth control. I'm thinking about having a second reduction early next year since after I went on the pill, they swelled up again.

this is what I remember from my surgery:
- upon waking up, it felt like a car had parked on my chest
- everything will be sore for about a week. if you can have someone take care of you for that week, it'll help a lot
- my first shower after my surgery was very disorientating
- your breasts will be swollen after surgery, and they will actually be a little smaller after healing

things I would do differently this second time around:
- get down to my goal weight before surgery
- make sure I'm *very* comfortable with my doctor/shop around (my doctor the first time was recommended by a nurse at my pediatrician's office, but he was the only person my mom and I consulted, and I feel like at the time he didn't really listen to me. I was only 17 at the time so I blindly trusted him and the recommendations of the nurse)

good luck anon!

Yeah, I feel the same way. I love Tumblr for personal blogging purposes and maybe insp for fashion but for discussions and advice, cgl has been the best resource by far.

I have a DreamV poncho and it is great quality and very warm! Go for it. Mine is made out of the same materials as that coat, including the fur, and it is incredibly soft.

VK now has an English version, though it's basically just the Russian equivalent of Facebook so I don't know if it would necessarily be an improvement.
This wikipedia page - wikipedia DOT org / wiki / List_of_social_networking_websites - reminded me of Bebo, but it looks like they've shut down. I'll continue to scour through the links if any anons want to join in.

Knit fabrics sometimes unravel when you cut them, especially specific types of socks, pullovers and cardigans (I know, your t-shirt doesn't unravel, but that's a diferent type of knit fabric). Last time I tried it the result was an uneven hem that wouldn't lie flat no matter what I did, so I particularly recommend against cutting it up.

I'd go with embellishing them with a ribbon or some beads to match your existing dresses, but nothing more major than that.

Remember to take out your existing clothes, pair up the cardis with an existing skirt or dress, then plan your embellishments from there. Nothing like spending a lot of time adding a lot of bows to a cardigan only to find you've just transformed a simple wearable cardi into something that doesn't match anything in your wardrobe.

I hope we can grab something that will work. We could go through the lists of unfamiliar sites, make accounts, and see if they are worthy of hosting a new community.

>>7838269

Yeah, I love Tumblr, but I can't keep up with things. Dash isn't the same as notifications, and it's not really social in the normal sense like FB or etc. CGL is pretty great, but sometimes I just fucking hate anon as an option which is why I want another comm.

Here's some that I found, some look promising others not so much.
> Ning - Looks to be a social network hosting website, similar to freeforums
> Vampirefreaks - Has a groups option, doesn't look to be as active as it used to be
> Scenekids DOT com SLASH network - Lists a bunch of sites with the same features and under the same ownership.
> Weibo - Used by Chinese lolis, I think it has an English version
> Hi5 - Under maintenance right now so I can't really check it out
> Nexopia, Sonico, Poolwo, Faceparty - Generic but dead social media with lackluster features

Sounds like you need to learn backend development instead of just frontend which is infinitely more complicated because you need to integrate with a CMS, do databasing, consider security, consider a framework, how to make calls to the database, how to optimise the site for the user base, etc.

No, we don't need any more association with that kind of stuff. Just name it something normal and respectable so that we won't facepalm over it a few years from now.

Profiles, friends lists, ability to create groups.
Obviously it's not ideal, but it's bare-bones stuff that would let us at least gather a community together.
If we're going the takeover route instead of creating our own platform, that will be something we'll have to deal with.

Never tried it myself, but it should definitely be possible.

>>7838221
As someone who owns a shit ton of cardigans just like the one in that picture... no. It doesn't work. Believe me, I've tried. They look absolutely terrible with lolita and ruin the silhouette since they're too long, too baggy in the waist and have a neckline that doesn't work with lolita cuts at all. The neckline can be spruced up but the length and bagginess is a dealbreaker lolita-wise.
I love my cardigans but I'll only wear them with otome or frumpyprivateschoolgirl/librarianwhogivesnofucks-kei.

>> No.7838568

What do you consider "standard lolita hobbies?" I honestly think there's no such thing, reading, baking and crafts are something that you could consider "lolita hobbies", but all are really common interests.

>> No.7838584

>>7838533
I don't know if it's unusual, but I'm into street photography. Of course I can usually only do it outside of lolita, because I can hardly be stealthy decked out in frills. It does make me kind of immune to people photographing me though, because I know I'd do the same.

Thanks anon, the only thing I could find when googling was the fyeahlolita sailor cardigan, which is fine, but not what I really want.
Your link was pretty helpful though! I guess just making it more fitted and shorter should help.

And I'm the same, I'm a shorty to start with (4'11''), so when I wear a cardigan it hits pretty much underneath my ass and it doesn't look great at all with a fluffy dress.

>>7838291
I wouldn't have thought to match it with my closet beforehand, so you've probably saved me some time and cardigans!
