It's based off of an old AP skirt, so the design isn't original (and probably why it doesn't look like BL).

It's actually a really annoying dress to wear, the weight of the skirt is too heavy and flattens the petticoats - I actually found this photo in the archives from asking for advice on what petticoats people use with this dress.

Bodyline's quality is getting better and better ever since the company started listening to their fan's and following model trends. It's not an automatic ita dress. If you're an A or B cup the shirring won't stretch dramatically over you chest if you buy the right size (as close to the minimum measurement as possible.) Make sure you match your colors and you can wear a bolero over the top to hide most of the shirring. There is the skirt too, but the high waist can make certain torso shapes look boxy.

I personally think it's fine to modify anything you buy, Bodyline or brand, but to me a new bodice sounds like you'd just better off making a whole new dress from scratch. But a lot of Bodyline pieces looks better with a few little additions or subtractions like adding nicer lace or taking off the bows they like to stick everywhere.
