For the sake of being factual he most likely wasn't cosplaying. In another article there is a picture of him from the front and he's in regular clothing. Was still shot in the back like six times though. Even if he's chasing people with the sword it doesn't take that much to "apprehend" somebody. Fucking trigger happy cops.

This is why we don't cosplay in public.

Goddamn if you suspect the guy of carrying a potentially lethal weapon at least take more caution with the situation, make sure he hears you and not just assume he's armed to kill from afar & decide to gun him down within a matter of minutes before he can even respond.
