I'm gradually coming up with ideas for this year's witch coord. Really wanna get these shoes in the matte.

The past 2 years I did cute witchy coords, but this year I'm thinking about doing a Cinderella inspired coord for actual Halloween/work. I do want to do a crazy OTT gothic coord for our comms Halloween meet this year, but I don't quite know how I'm going to go about accessories other then this really pretty masquerade mask I have

How costume-y is TOO costume-y for a halloween meetup?
I have an outfit in mind, where I'd be wearing a gothic coord and curled horns and a dark veil.

I'm curious if there's some kind of consensus on what line that needs to be crossed for a "lolita halloween costume". For instance, if you wore Sugary Carnival or Day Dream Carnival, wouldn't you already look like a carousel? Or does it not count unless you don a minihat so you actually look like a walking carousel?

Similarly, if, say, a coord involved IW's Royal Library (or JetJ's bibliotheque series). At what point are you merely doing "a book-themed coord", suitable to wear to meetups all year round, and at what point would you be wearing "a library" costume?

Or, it does it not matter at all, so long as you are able to explain to other lolitas, "I am wearing Moi Meme Moitie's Silent Moon because I am dressed as the London skyline"?

Personally I think it'd be kinda lame to just wear a print and call it a day. Halloween is one of the few times you can go really crazy with the OTT accessories and have an excuse for it, so I think you should push it to the limit.

You are wearing a coord. If you wear it on Halloween, it's still just a coord, even if it's OTT. Wearing a hat with DDC and Suagry Carnival is done all year round, doing it on Halloween doesn't magically make it a costume any more than any other time of year.

I'll probably be wearing all black for my coord this year. I was leaning on a violet coord but the goddamn seller never got back to me, so there goes hope of having that dress.

I have a hat im going to reconstruct and fancy up a broom that i'll carry around. It's simple but I think it will work fine.

Yes, a normal coord with Royal Library is just a dress with a print. I'm asking what's the line that needs to be crossed, what accessories, what direction do you need to go in, in order to be "a library" instead of wearing a library-printed dress. That kind of thing.

Does it need to fit in with the theme of what you're doing, or does any old OTT coord count as "Halloween"?

I think a carousel topper hat would be perfect for that kind of coord. Add in a carousel horse bag and maybe some OTT makeup like the paintings they tend to have on a carousel? (Full disclaimer, I don't wear sweet so maybe this would be horrible, but if you're going to go crazy makeup Halloween is the time to do it, imo).

Taking your Royal Library example- bookbag, a book headdress (I think I saw a photo of a girl at one of the TPC London meets that had a crazy cool book headdress? If anyone knows which I mean?) Maybe a pair of shoes with a fancy, nice rich wood heel to emulate bookshelves. As long as you're keeping with the specific costume theme and it's in that direction that you're going over the top it's fine. But you can't just do generically OTT, like a crazy huge flower headdress with Royal Library if you're trying to be a bookcase/library.

I...want to make a demon coord. Reds and blacks and horns and intense make-up. Unfortunately, I'm not someone who wears much OTT at all so I'm not sure how to do it without fucking it up.

Also considered OTT broken marionette ("tangled" wig, BJD tights & gloves, torn up blouse and dress--tea-dyed maybe, contacts, makeup, etc).

In all honesty, a witch is probably easiest.

I picked up this dress for an event and it's too fancy IMO for anything but a con, so I'm thinking if wearing it in a Halloween themed coord. These are my ideas so far:

1. Unicorn (I'd make a headdress with a horn and horse ears)
2. Princess Serenity
3. Angel

I'm not sure which to go with though. Last year I did a deer with a different dress in my closet.
