Have they even hired new staff? From the sounds of it Dashcon was run by random tumblr people who offered to help and that's why it was disorganized as hell.
My bet is that it won't be as scammy as this year but will still be terrible and its admins will finally give up and decide against a 2016 con.

What is the need for this shit? People should just organize meets within their own website communities. Beats the hell out of paying $80 to finance a bland as fuck corporate hotel room and to pay for staff who do nothing and guests you don't give a single shit about. Rent a private room somewhere, everybody pays $10 cover and has a good time.

Of course a billion tards are gonna hit this because "omg I need to see the catastrophe for myself" and then these fucks will get a ton of money and CONTINUE DOING THIS SHIT.

Here is some fun info for you about DashCon/Emoticon.

DashCon was $80 at the door, with $65 for pre-reg(for a 1st year show), and $150 for an artist table, and $300 for a dealer's table.

Let's say that everyone pre-registered, at around 1,000 attendees, that's $65k. Now there's the dealers and artists, let's round up and say $10k. Then there is the Welcome to Night Vale tickets at $10 a head, with 3 of those throughout the weekend, with all by Friday selling out(very close though), at roughly 500 tickets per each of these, that's roughly an additional $15k. Then there are the Steam Powered Giraffe concert tickets(and memberships), which were never refunded after the band withdrew, despite telling the band that they would refund said tickets and memberships). I'll let you imagine numbers on that one, seeing that they know how to pack a room.

Now imagine that the 'con' had no real overhead. They didn't pay for hotel rooms, and because they had more than enough people there for that announcement Friday night(we've all seen the video), you can assume that they all had their own hotel rooms. This was a much younger crowd as you can see. You don't see much in the way of their attendees sharing rooms as most of them were con virgins(Tumblr crowd after all).

They hit their room block, and hence, didn't actually owe the hotel anything. Their game room had a single console and monitor. The bounce house and yes(sigh), the ballpit), were pocket change at best. They didn't cover guests transportation or hotels, or appearance fees.

So now add a mystery $17k with no accountability or basis in reality. Add this to the previous dollar amount, and go from there. Yet they didn't have the money to pay Welcome to Night Vale.

How odd.

Do the Illinois authorities know about this? Something tells me Douchecon isn't going to be paying taxes, honoring contracts, facing misrepresentation and fraud charges, etc. without a whistleblower.
