gonna be a saintly martyr. cream robe-y dress of some kind with gold tears, tacky resplendor, some kind of hint at how i was martyred (thick hair braid around the neck, maybe pretty gold drips from a slit throat, i dunno), etc.

How costumey can I go with Lolita before getting called out on it? I never got into the fawn craze, but I really like satyrs and demons and gay shit like that. I wanted to make black goat legs with the fabled chopped off 6-7 inch heels, small brown-gold horns, and a crown for one horn to go with my Wonder Queen OP in green. I was going to paint and modify a cane for walking to make up for the chopped off heels.

I was going to test the waters at a Halloween meet, but do you guys think I could get away with it at cons? I understand the "Lolita is not a costume" argument, so I don't want to cause trouble for my comm.

So I'm being shitty hipster Ariel since I have a red wig sitting around and I wear thick-rimmed (though not hipster) glasses.

My friend is beingh shitty hipster Pocahontas, and other coworkers are being shitty hipster Elsa, and Pete from A Goofy Movie.

I'm making the shirt by taking a beige t-shirt and painting the shells on, or I might buy a shell bra and wear it over the shirt.

Debating whether or not to get a new pair of converse since mine are ruined from my MLP days, circa 2010, or just wear my awful old people work sneakers.

For the extra arms (likely the balled up fist ones), to keep things light, you might want to get some long arm gloves and try dying that to the right color, as her skin, and then stuff the gloves and hand sew the fingers into a fist. You can try rigging up some strong metal armature that runs down through each arm and that same armature runs along the shoulders. I guess think like making angel wings but have more straps around the shoulders. Sugilite's design is rather forgiving for the extra arms by keeping most of the rigs hidden under the shoulder sleeves and shirt. Sorry my idea may come across vague, I think there has been some cosplays with multiple arms so I would look at those for tips.

This year I'm going as Oogie Boogie, picked up plenty of burlap (was in luck to find the right color and as tight knit as possible) and cotton to line the inside with. Burlap is linty as heck, prewashing it in the tub at the moment, I managed to collect a whole lot of lint but I'm not sure if it's just gonna lint forever... I wish there were other fabric choices but nothing close enough.

Right now my plan is a sort of "functional" Ursula (black dress/shoes and purple tights/arm covers/body paint for face/chest and probably blue-green eyeshadow)
I'm just gonna make her necklace thing out of sculpey and use a shitty white bob wig and style it. I also might make small Flotsam and Jetsam earrings to wear since that'll be easier than a plush.
Since I still have a month, though, I'm up for any ideas for either how to improve the costume (like a cheap way to add tentacles to it that doesn't look godawful) or other fat female characters I can cosplay pretty cheaply.
The only rule is that one of the parties I'm going to will have kids, so I don't wanna go too scary this year.

I was thinking of being Morello for Halloween but it's hot as fuck where I live and I'd just be uncomfortably warm the entire time. I was thinking as a backup to be Tina from Bob's Burgers but I think most people wouldn't realize it's a costume?
