I think Croke Park is a shite venue for it. Going up and down those lifts or trying to squeeze past people on those narrow as fuck stairways was a disaster and the cloakroom was managed horribly. They had the same issues with the Helix and the artists moaning about being stuck away from traffic .

The National Convention centre's overpriced for events - it's basically for State galas at this stage. While everywhere else is in the fucking boondocks.

Then again, I remember the hedy days of The Hub - when 1000 people crammed into a space designed, really for a fair bit less than that and things got kinda hot and smelly.

And at least it won't flood like the Ballsbridge Hotel.

What's the touhou fanbase like in Ireland? Does it even exist? I haven't found many Irish fans so I'm hesitant about cosplaying any of the girls if no one will recognize me

I've been following Potsy's Rose of Tralee bid and it's hilarious for several reasons. She'll be 2 years too old for it (27 is the limit) but wants the age limit waived because apparently, taking hormones makes you younger or some shit. Despite the fact that she's always shrieking about not wanting special snowflake treatment. She seems to think she'll at least be chosen as a Regional rose, despite the fact that there's a lot of competition and work to get to that point. I can imagine several ways this may work out.

In the extremely unlikely event TROT waives the age limit, Irish trans and LGBT organisations will support her and there'll be media attention. Until her history comes out, and they slowly back away as she makes a complete idiot of herself at TROT, with her godawful music or dancing. While that'll never happen, it's hysterical to think about.

The most overwhelmingly likely case though, is that Potsy will get a polite rejection email, which she is absolutely going to freak at. Bonus freakout if the email mentions anything about having to be biologically female to enter.
