I mean, I even put it in quotes because I think it's sort of silly. It's not something I would wear to a regular meetup, but for something like a masquerade event at a lolita/alt-fashion convention it seems very appropriate. I don't like calling it OTT classic because it often isn't as related to regular classic as OTT sweet was to regular sweet (i.e. sweet with more accessories/props/etc.)

I don't really have anything against it, it's just not really my style.
What bothers me more about this trend is that it is now almost mandatory to wear an OTT dress, 3 wigs, 12 bows, a dozen big flowers, a crown, a scepter, three layers of underskirts, and a million bracelets/rings/necklaces, or your outfit will be torn apart as "too simple" or "boring". Nothing aganist OTT, but I wish people would appreciate the non-OTT outfits more.

After Candy Violet made a few lolita dresses that were basically shortened adaptations of 18th century dresses, someone else made a lolita version of a Chemise a la Reine* and she freaked out claiming that since she had spent "years and years" researching historical fashion, that anyone making a lolita chemise dress was ripping her off. Even though she'd basically taken a relatively simple 18th century dress design and shortened it - that's it. Pic related. Add to that a side dish of drama when someone bought the Candy Violet chemise and made a stink about it being shoddily constructed. "Years and years" became a meme here and on secrets and CV basically dropped lolita (she was arguably on her way out anyway in favor of some snowflake style she was trying to push that she called "quaintrelle" which was basically lolita mixed with retro 50s stuff).
