Fat women cosplaying female characters which are blatantly hot, skinny, and scantily clad.

I really don't give a shit if anyone hurls some Tumblr whale acceptance shit at me, it's disgusting. Seeing that shit is disgusting. How you can delude yourself into thinking you look good and leaving the house is beyond me. The stares aren't because you look good, it's because people are in utter disbelief that a fat fuck would torment everyone in such a way.

>> No.7765999

Similar to OP, but when people genderswap a costume (either to a male or female version) and oversexualize it.

Like yes, we get it, you have muscle/tits. No, your cosplay doesn't suit the character at all.

>> No.7766000

Men who get praised for their shitty PMMM/Sailor Scout/whatever cosplays just because they're dudes in dresses. They always look terrible. Can we start being harshly critical with these guys now that they're mainstream and the initial irony value has worn away?

And the opposite of wrinkled/dirty costumes, when someone cosplays something that should be weathered and it's pristine. I've seen a lot of the Nurses from Silent Hill where they do a great job on their outfit, and yet their legs and/or shoes are brand new and not weathered.

This. I definitely think people are free to cosplay whatever they want regardless of their inherent traits. That's not something people can really change about themselves anyway, so there's no point in berating them for being what they are.

But some cosplays are going to look better than others. This is a fact. And that's okay, really. If you're in it just to have fun, then that shouldn't matter. And even if you're in it to get better, then take it as a step forward, in that you need to improve to get better. None of it means you're a bad person at all, it just means... your cosplay is not up to par, that's all.

When people cosplay some obscure shit from who-knows-where and they get upset because no one recognizes them. This is especially true for hardcore weebs.

I know a girl who dressed as Jinx from LoL on saturday for a con and on Sunday she went as some unrecognizable crap character from some anime no one watches. You can see on fb how there are dozens of pics from the first day and like 2 or 3 from the second day. She was then whining that "Sunday was so boring etc etc". What pisses me off: When you criticize people for being stupid slutty lazy attention whores like this abomination >>7772521 you get a bunch of whiteknighting assholes riding your back because "ehmg all cosplayers are attention whores u know u do it for the attention!!11". Yes, I like attention. But there are different kinds of attention. The attention I like is the one that's targeted towards successful craftsmanship, photography, presentation and other things besides sluttyness. Things that require thought and effort and are rewarded to you for doing a good job on your work, not for being a lazy dipshit who put on a bikini for some popular character's "genderbent" version. And no, I don't give a fuck about "baww wahh maintaining a good body takes work too bluhhh". You can have a good body AND make great cosplays.

Most likely this has been a rising trend now because attention-starved girls and boys realize that being a famous and good looking real model requires years of hard work and connections. Who wants to do that when you can just slap on 1/6 of the character's suit and claim to be a "cosplay model" and get all the attention and donations you need? I've seen so many self-proclaimed "cosplay models" and "professional cosplayers" lately that I'm beginning to think that this hobby as a form of craft and nerdom is shifting towards extinction.

I know it is frustrating but think about it. These people's entire lives are based around looking nice dressed up like fictional characters. It's a fun hobby but anyone taking it seriously is delusional.
Suppose they even do get popular, which they will not, what happens then? They're popular in an incredibly small community. If they stop producing costumes or get old I guarantee everyone will forget about them in a hot minute. Just look at the "what happened to them" threads on here, they are literally about people who were big 2-3 years ago. TWO or three years and everyone has forgotten about them. Replaced by hotter, younger cosplayers with more free time and boob jobs, or they just got old or they grew up and moved on and literally no one cares.
It's a sad fate. It's even sadder than aging as a model or stripper because at least you got paid for it. The most that cosplayers can realistically wish for is a few hundreds bucks in fanboy cash for prints and to get invited to some shitty conventions. Yes. Exactly. I loved this hobby because it was the one place where sex (and looks) wasn't the defining factor. Cosplay appeared as a little strange, but very interesting hobby that sometimes produced jaw-dropping results that made people gasp even if you weren't a cosplayer or didn't know anything about it. When I started cosplaying years ago the most prominent cosplayers were those who were just skilled as fuck and put effort into their costumes, I think Francesca Dan was the worst attention whore we had and she wasn't half as ridiculous as JNig. And at least the attention whores of our era did the costumes themselves and didn't have a team of lackeys doing all the shit for them.

And now we have bitches like JNig and Yaya and Heroes of Cosplay defining our hobby. Every time there's a cosplay related article on some fucking magazine or ezine it's always the "hot girls in skimpy vidya gaym clothes" approach. It's like they're displaying this hobby as a fetish. It's proven every time I hear a guy say "I'd like a cute/sexy cosplayer girlfriend". It makes me cringe.

I think I need a moment. The more I think about this the more pissed off I get.

This is try I try very hard not to think about it...
each time I do I really really get the urge to call out every fame hungry cosplayer.

>When people cosplay something and get a bunch of positive attention for it
>Now they don't cosplay anything else
I especially hate it if they make it sound like they're the splitting image of whoever, and it's only a minor (eg hair color, height, body shape) at best

Someone whose parents have experienced periods of starvation prior to their birth can have a much harder time losing weight as a result of epigenetic changes in their genome. It happened in the Netherlands with people born shortly after WWII.
That said, there is no gene that makes someone 200lbs overweight. There are illnesses that can cause accumulation of fat deposits (like lipedema) but those are not nearly common enough to account for the current obesity rates.

When someone says anything that arrogant the only response anyone should have is

"Well you did a shitty job. I can do better."
