>I'm going to go to a public convention dressed deliberately with my tits and ass hanging out so all the men will drool over me, but I don't want anyone approaching me, hitting on me, saying sexual things, or treating me like a sex object. I'm just here to have fun teasing you sexually and act surprised when my divine bubble of protection doesn't exist.

Also: not all fictional characters have their tits and asses hanging out. The girls who choose slutty characters are expected to act like bimbos anyway and it shouldn't really surprise anyone that they get uppity and loud to try and attract even more attention when they catch you looking at their bare tits.

Boundaries are based on many things though - social convention via the context of the situation. Morals and ethics of people concerned - which fluctuate on "who" is pushing the boundaries. No girl complains if a hot Prince Charming is being a creep.

It is up to each individual to set their comfort zone. It may fluctuate based on their confidence and where they are but that's their choice.

No one complains if a hot person is showing them interest. Until either that person turns out to be boring, annoying, inept or some other negative unattractive adjective.

Whether someome is at a convention, a beach, a library or their own home. It doesn't give you the right to make assumptions about their boundaries, both physical and mental.

It's called good manners to establish a connection through conversation first.

>> No.7762559

Sorry princess, but your "boundaries" don't mean shit. When you're in public a person can say things to say, stand next to you, or do whatever they feel. Unless they are committing a crime, you don't get to tell another person how they get to act.

It is not anyone's responsibility to make you comfortable. Expecting it to be is called entitlement.

By that logic, it's entitlement to be able to say what you like to whomever without repercussion.

That's also called being tactless.

It's a cyclic argument. But a world built on mutual respect is better than one where we can walk all over each other because we think we can.

All individuals are entitled to set their own boundaries.

To take your logic to the extremes. A murder victim was being entitled by expecting others not to kill them. A rape victim was being entitled expecting not to be raped. A victim of bullying was being entitled by expecting not to be bullied. A victim of harassment was being entitled to expect not to be harassed.

Different ends of the same scale.

Now that's not to say that 'victims' don't dramaticise or jump to conclusions themselves. An ugly person just trying to be nice gets written off as a creep when a good looking person doing the same gets a smile and a phone number. That's not right either.

But we do live in a sex fueled society where we use our initial primary input, being the visual of a person, to form a lasting opinion in seconds that could, very easily, be wrong. Then the argument is that you react based on experience, based on the majority. Experience and caution begets routine. Can't win that way either.

Because we don't live in a world based on mutual respect you can't approach everyone the same way and expect the same reaction regardless of what you look like or where you are.

So in summary.

Person A is wearing a sexy outfit

Person B finds person A very sexy.

So Person B expects to be able to have the right to approach Person A.

This is fine.

Person B makes initial conversation with Person A.

Also fine.

At which point Person A can either choose to continue the conversation. Or say no thank you in a contextually appropriate way and leave. This can occur at any stage, whether the conversation has progressed or not.

Just as Person B might discover upon talking to Person A that what comes out of their mouth is not as attractive as the rest of them and may choose to exit the conversation and beet a hasty retreat.

All of these scenarios are okay.

Either Person A or Person B will be left feeling rejected or uncomfortable if they don't get on.

But the part that isn't okay is that, if either party has said 'no thank you' in some way that the other pursues.

Either in a mopy way, a passive aggressive way, an aggressive way, an online way, any way.

Expecting no to mean no is not entitlement. It's a dictionary definition.

So can all of you who are trying to shame others into shutting up by calling them Princess, entitled, expectant, spoiled stop and understand that it's okay for you to make a move but if they say no that's just life and move the fuck on?

The freedom of speech movement is about stopping oppression.

It's not a shield for tactless behaviour.

Also I should point out that I keep using gender and sexuality neutral examples. You're boxing yourself in anon by referring to feminism and women as a whole. This kind of behaviour is relevant to men too and to homosexuals, heterosexuals and the entire spectrum in between.

Having the entitlement of free speech isn't the same as acting entitled. That's like saying that everyone acts entitled because they have civil rights.

Your argument is a pile of shit. "Standing next to" or "commenting" isn't crossing any boundaries and no one is trying to say they are.

But if you get up in someone's business and they make it clear that your attention is unwelcome, then it can become harassment. It doesn't fucking matter how a person is dressed.
Yeah, women dress like that for attention, but just like how everything else in life is selective, so is this. If they aren't attracted to you, whether they're in sweatpants or a fucking bikini, get it through your skull that the woman owes you NOTHING and get the fuck over it. Maybe if you faggots actually treated a woman with respect, maybe then betas, youu
Maybe if you faggots weren't so busy trying to justify your blatant disrespect you would actually have a girlfriend and this conversation wouldn't be happening. And you pathetic fucks wonder why you're single.

I'm not specifying about cosplay. Mode of dress doesn't equal consent. That should be a fact.

All this talk just reminds of a scene from the movie Made in Dagenham, which is about the lead up to the Equal Pay Act in 1970. Characters are husband and wife.

Eddie O'Grady: Christ, I like a drink, but I ain't out on the beer every night or screwin' other women, or... 'Ere, I've never once raised me hand to you. Ever. Or the kids.

Rita O'Grady: Christ.

Eddie O'Grady: What? Why are you looking like that?

Rita O'Grady: Right. You're a saint now, is that what you're tellin' me, Eddie? You're a bleedin' saint? 'Cause you give us an even break?

Eddie O'Grady: What are you saying?

Rita O'Grady: That is as it should be. Jesus, Eddie! What do you think this strike's all been about, eh? Oh yeah. Actually you're right. You don't go on the drink, do ya? You don't gamble, you join in with the kids, you don't knock us about. Oh, lucky me. For Christ's sake, Eddie, that's as it should be! You try and understand that. Rights, not privileges. It's that easy. It really bloody is.

-----

The point is that you're right anon. Shit things do happen. People get lied to, used, abused, abandoned. And yes, we should all be prepared, know the signs, take precautions, don't go off with strangers.

And there are people who won't give a shit about your boundaries.

But they are the people in the wrong. They're the people who we should be trying to change.

Rather than saying 'okay everyone, expect abuse, sit back and take it because otherwise you're being entitled, you're being a feminisit, you're being 'insert generally oppressive shaming terminology here'.

So I will yell all day long.

People aren't entitled to say whatever they want without repercussions. There are several situations where, based purely one what someone has said in a public setting, they can be arrested, they can lose their job etc.

That isn't championing socialism.

But you can't expect to walk up to someone and essentially say 'because you are wearing X I am going to do and say whatever takes my fancy'. That is entitlement.

I don't want people thrown in jail because I feel they were rude to me. I want people to understand that no is no and walk away. It's after a rejection has been established that is the problem.

I'm not trying to say people should take offence because someone they find displeasing has spoken to them.

But nor do I expect someone to walk up to me and start putting their hands on me if I have skin out. Which they have done. Which makes me very uncomfortable. And that isn't and should not be okay.
