7749616 No.7749616[DELETED]  [Reply] [Original]

Etsy/handmade thread: the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Pic related, it's a "lolita skirt" and the description is gold.

>> No.7749628

You can see in the sidebar that they sell this skirt for anyone, they're just offering a discounted listing for trans people. The skirt itself is fug but I don't think the description is a big deal.

Glad i'm not the only one who thinks this. When my sjw tumblr former friend told another friend that he was a cis white male, I ask her how was he a computer information system male.

To this day, she still hates me and calls me a cis enabler. What ever that means.

I don't know about elsewhere, but in the EU if something is labelled "certified organic" in the store it's guaranteed to have a lot less pesticides, potentially harmful chemicals, and has been harvested in a humane way (if it's an animal product). Also it's GM-free. It may not be a big deal but Monsanto is already doing some heavy lobbying up here and the people have a right to choose whether they want to eat GM products or not, nothing wrong with that.

Though >>7759178 and the whole gluten-free shenanigans is dumb, can't argue with that.

>> No.7760704

>>7760696
Here in Canada, there's basically no regulations towards what's considered "organic", and there's certainly no regulation for pesticides, which means organic food is essentially doused in pesticides just to keep it alive. Not only that, but just an "organic" label doesn't even mean there's no GMOs either. There's even less regulations towards organic or "cage free" meat - most of those animals are treated the same as their 'caged' counterparts, and even sent to the same slaughterhouse.
I'm assuming the US is similar or worse.

None of the people I've talked to who were militantly against GMOs even knew what Monsanto was, they just thought 'genes' cause cancer. If someone is actually boycotting companies like Monsanto and knows what they're talking about, I really respect that.

I personally prefer some processed foods and medicines to involve GMOs because I'd rather see a particular enzyme harvested from bacterial or fungal cultures than from mashed-up calf organs. The EU's policies in this regard might be better than most other places, but they're still far from perfect. A lot of politicians and the people who vote for them don't know what they're talking about so we end up with some ass-backwards laws that in the end only benefit the corporations that know how to exploit them.
