If a character has colored eyebrows and your already wearing a colored wig, not coloring your eyebrows just looks really bad and lazy.

I feel like having miscolored eyebrows look really weird and stick out, especially if you have dark eyebrows and are cosplaying a light haired character.

I feel like I have the unpopular opinion here but unless the character's eyebrows are notable like Mugi from K-On, I don't think cosplays should have colored eyebrows. Looking at general anime characters, they all have thin undefined dark looking brows. It seems strange to me to color your brows to match the wig (and bringing attention to them) if the character themself has basic brows. Pic related.

Well I think the problem with this is that in anime, the eyebrows aren't defined and are usually just a thin line. But real people have rather thick eyebrows comparatively, and can look really weird if they're a completely different color than the main hair. Like seeing someone with bleach blonde hair and black eyebrows. It just looks weird and the eyebrows draw a lot of attention.

If the bangs on the wig cover your brows it should be okay though as long as the colors aren't too contrasting (like dark eyebrows behind a pastel wig)

Whether or not your eyebrows match your wig is one of the things that determines the level of accuracy in the cosplay to me. It's not that hard to do either and there are a variety of ways to do it. I personally mix acrylic paint with hairgel. Realistically people's eyebrows will match their natural hair color. Work with your natural eyebrows though unless it's a defining feature for the character like chaika. When you work with your natural eyebrows do still trim/pluck them for a more clean shape before painting. Don't overdo it and pencil thin 60s eyebrows they will make you look like an old lady

what if you have extremely dark thick say man-brows and are cosplaying a character with light pastel hair ?

What do you people think about eyebrows that aren't 100% the same colour as the wig, but a little bit darker? I just feel like really bright pink/blue/green eyebrows look weird on me, so I usually go with a darker shade.

I color my eyebrows if the character's eyebrows match their hair color. A lot of the time they're just black.

A lot of the time, dark eyebrows with coloured or light hair looks odd. I don't think they have to be the exact colour of the wig, but lightening them or even just casting some coloured eyeshadow on them really help lessen the contrast.

My wig is blue for my next cosplay, and my eyebrows are a light orange (ginger).
What makeup should I use to make my eyebrows either darker or blue?

With a really light coloured wig super dark eyebrows might look odd (or really light ones, those that are almost invisible) but generally since 90% of the animation and reference pictures show the characters with simplified dark eyebrows, I think it's totally okay to go with just medium brown.
Just remember to pluck and maybe wax your brows as well as even the colour.

For characters that have a certain, visible eyebrow colour similar to their hair, I usually use either eyeshadow mixed with super cheap (white) acrylic paint or fingerpaint. It washes off easily.

For a more durable look I usually paint my brows with Grimas's body paints, either water soluble or creme based. They're a bit costly, but they come in many colours and they're easily applied to face, body or eyebrows.

While the suggestion that >>7744520
made is a good one, when it comes to eyebrows, I suggest avoiding using eyeshadow within itself. From my experience of doing my own makeup through out the years mixed with freelance work, I can promise you that using eyeshadow alone often lends you to run into more smudging, fading, and flaking. What I would do is buy a high quality eyeliner, they're usually retractable or mention in their description that they should "glide" right on. Urban Decay often has lines out that cater to bright pops of color, but seeing as it's summer, almost any company will be carrying brighter colors, including drugstore brands. Fill in the end of your eyebrows completely (the arch and the "tail" part of your eyebrow,) then take a flat topped, thin brush and begin to blend that strong area of color inwards to the edge of your eyebrow (near your nose, to put it simply.) This creates a natural fade, to which you can apply eyeshadow over (only in the darkest part, remember) so that it seals the color. I wish I could explain this better, but I'm not one for textual teaching.

Just as a response to this, I found that when I used a lip pencil to colour in my brows it was really easy to smudge, even with a powder over it. Just a warning to those trying it out!

But to actually contribute to the conversation, Like many have said, if it's someone who has a definite difference in their eyebrows, like the thin line they have is definitely the same colour as their hair, i think it's pretty important to do the same, perhaps not block it out either, i'd say maybe thin the eyebrows a little and then colour them, or glue them down, put foundation over them and colour them in, but that would probably look pretty odd also...

Definitely was an idiot in like sixth grade and shaved my eyebrows. Grew back just fine, just a bit awkwardly. None of that "it's going to be bushier!" bullshit everyone tried to spew at me. Still shave parts of it when I'm too lazy to go get them waxed 'cause I'm lazy as fuck sometimes. Never had a problem other than accidentally shaving too much.
