Just the entire sweet lolita substyle (not the old school kind, the newer OTT kind with border prints, decora, and pastel overload). It's completely distinct from gothic and classic, and I wish there would just be an official split.

Not to mention that most sweet lolitas look like clones.

Not saying people should stop wearing it (I wish it would just disappear, but y'know, political correctness and all), but I do really, really want sweet lolita and gothic/classic to be treated as the completely different styles they are, instead of as one big fashion.

Look, a petticoat is under a dress. It provides structure. Worn well, that's all it does. It creates a nice silhouette. That's not too far out there. And alternative fashion does not automatically mean costumey. I hate that false correlation. Most alternative fashion doesn't look like a fucking costume. Out of the ordinary? Definitely. It's not anyone's fault that bonnets remind people of costumes. It's no one's fault people think of cartoon babies and period pieces when they see bonnets. Or dog cones for that matter. But it's there.

Finding bonnets to be a little ridiculous looking isn't the same as "wanting to look like a normalfag". Do you think in extremes all the time? That sounds exhausting. I wasn't even aggressive, nor did I end up saying I wanted them eliminated.

If you're putting on an extravagant outfit with fitting makeup, why would you settle on having hair that grows out of your head that doesn't match when there are more fitting substitutes? Sorry, do you think people who wear makeup in lolita should grow different faces? Is makeup lazy too, since it's the easy way to change your appearance?

What's "lazy" is settling on having hair that doesn't match your overall look instead of investing in a wig to solve that problem.

Fucking flowercrowns... Despise them with a burning passion. Not like the whole 'OH its such a stupid fad STOOOUUP' but my mom used to take my sisters and I to renaissance festivals when we were little and she'd make garlands (WHICH, FYI IS WHAT IT'S FUCKING CALLED, NOT FUCKING 'FLOWER CROWNS' YOU AUTISTIC FUCKS) and I used to love them. I wore them all the time because it reminded me so much of my mom and that made me really happy. But then it started becoming a fucking fad and now everyone is fucking wearing one thinking they're hot shit and just holy shit. You 'fashionista' fuckers ruined a good part of my childhood. Fuck you in every way possible Tumblr.
/end rant

I know I sound salty and I don't even fucking care. They took something I used to love and had a big nasty shit on it.

Same. Five years ago my comm was 80% gothic with maybe two or three girls who consistently wore sweet, but now every single newbie comes in wearing sweet and they've become the majority. Nothing against sweet but for some reason it's the first phase everyone here goes through when they get into lolita and that's just weird. I miss when gothic lolita was the norm.

OT though, I'm going to agree with those people saying wigs. Not nice natural-looking wigs to make up for lolita inappropriate hairstyles, but shit like this. If I could burn every single one of these wigs in existence (and the GLW HQ when I'm at it) I would.

Ribbon sashes. I associate them more with beauty pageants than royalty.

I could imagine ribbon sashes being useful, such as wearing them to mark yourself as staff at some sort of major lolita event (sort of like how staff at conventions have staff shirts).

But if you're just wearing a ribbon sash as an accessory, I can only imagine you as a winner of the vaguest pageant ever.
