I'm at a pretty high risk of developing one. I love the feeling of buying things, it's kinda sad. I've managed to not buy any clothes for about two months now and I've sold a few pieces so I don't feel quite so bad, but I know for a fact that when I move back to my college place for the year I could start on another buying spree.
What's even worse is that I get pretty much everything second hand so the prices are generally easier to justify.

If you look closely at the stock photos, especially with Angelic Pretty and Btssb, the skirts can only get that poofy if there is a petticoat underneath.

Finding a petticoat of the right length and poof is another thing altogether though. I think a lot of girls make do without petticoats because they can't find the right ones. I got mine from cmloli (taobao) as they make their petticoats too short for normal lolita dresses. You might want to poke around taobao custom costume shops and see if anyone will make a petticoat to custom length. Angelic pretty also has a short version of their organdy pannier up on their shop that probably fits their miniskirts, low-waisted dresses and salopettes better.

It would depend on the context of the posting. Some girls get posted because they're awesome, it's not all bad. You can ignore it or come in with a good attitude and ask for some crit to improve. If you're not butthurt and are trying to improve seagulls will generally be pretty amiable. If the brands don't have anything out that I really want or there aren't any good 2nd hand deals that I'm into I usually just get a bunch of stuff from Taobao, both lolita and regular clothes.

Earlier this year when IW had (what I found to be) a better sale than their current one, I bought a lot of stuff from them.

If I were you I'd see what the brands are coming out with, what they have, and check out the current selection of 2nd hand on the various sales comms. if nothing strikes your fancy, off to taobao!

Off the rack corsets will go as low as 18/20. You will need a 20 to start. If you arent sure about what you want, get a cheapish one (not like 40$ cheap but like 100$ish) and see. If you want one for waist training after you know you like it, be prepared to invest money into that.

For those who are thinking about wearing a corset in lolita, it isnt as simple as just buy one and do it. For someone like >>7724125
she would have to make sure that what she gets is not bulky as the corset itself can be thick since she needs to be a certain measurement to fit in. Issues you get are if the fabric of the dress if thin, it may show through the lines, and that dealing with undergarments can be a pain. Corsets tend to go to your hips, so you have to decide whether to put things like bloomers over or under it. If under, you may get discomfort from the elastic.

It really depends on what you want and what sizing you are. I personally like Isabella Corsetry for their really curvy stuff, although it is not super cheap (cheap for otr though). Timeless trends is good for casual wear since they have a good stock, Orchard Corsetry is also good for being cheap, get the 411 or the 426. They also have a mesh corset now, which while I cant say how good it is, that type is more ideal for something you want to be light weight for under your clothing. There is also What Katie Did, which has a 50s feel but their baby corset is good for avoiding the hip problem with lolita.

You can get 18" corsets which are pretty standard. Since you're obviously new to this, look at lucycorsetry and have a read about how to buy a corset that fits you. Good brands to start with include timeless trends and orchard corset, stay away from corsetstory and ebay sellers a as they tend to be very tubular. I personally like my Josephine corset from Isabella Corsetry in 18" and What Katie Did corsets (although they are really quite expensive full price and you may as well go custom for the price, I've also opened one up before and the construction isn't suited to daily wear)

For shapewear, Vedette! They go down to a 3XS/28. Alternatively look on somewhere like Nissen which caters to smaller sizes due to being Japanese

>> No.7725532

I have an underbust corset for Lolita. if you're too close to the max of a dress I really dont recommend a corset as a solution. I think corsets are great for smoothing out your torso (good bye muffin tops!) But the corset itself adds bulk to your waist. Because the corset has its own thickness. I've tried, and using a corset doesn't help me fit dresses I am too large for.

Also when you wear a corset your bust area gets pushed up. So the dress must be really around the bust if you want to consider wearing a corset underneath.

Put a dress up for auction as I'm leaving lolita and want the money. Set a pretty high BIN, figuring it won't get that high. The auction, as I watch it, jumps 200 dollars- 100 within the autobuy. And then someone autobuys it. Sends me her address, messages me that she's super excited and ready!!!

Tonight she messages me "Oh, anon, I just checked on lolibrary, the original price of the dress was _____ yen. Your autobuy seems a bit high- can I do 330 instead?"

Bitch, NO. You do not fucking haggle AFTER YOU BOUGHT THE FUCKING DRESS. That's not how secondhand works, that's not how auctions work. Try fucking PMing someone about Cat's Tea Party or Puppet Circus with that game and see how it fucking works.

Imho the pink is nice but it's quite cutesy. The brown has a lot of contrast to it and I think it's a bit of a brown overload, and the ivory isn't very versatile for coording.

Noob question: I reserved guilty meltin' sweets direct from the a/p JP webshop. I see that some people in the US have already received their dresses and that CC has already had some in stock from last month. I guess I'm just curious how long it usually takes, and do they do the shipping in waves for reserves overseas? I have two orders, the jsk and hb in one order, and the socks and one of the blouses on another other (email order, couldn't use cart with those). This happened to me when I reserved Elizabeth Bride of Death, i was watching other people receive theirs while worrying if btssb had forgotten my order. As it turns out it's because I reserved the headbow, and that was the last item of the series to actually be released. The shop has to wait until all the items in an order has come in to ship the order out.

If you want to check whether the items in your series has been released, keep an eye on their "New" items: Right under the webshop's menu are the New items, click on "More" to see all the items they newly added to their webshop. No prob!

About the socks, if it makes you feel any better, I had the same issue with Baroque's striped tights, and since then, I've noticed that most oblique striped tights/tights-material-type socks don't really match up at the sides. I think the manufacturing process just isn't accurate enough for them to match it up properly yet, so this is probably the best that they can do for now.

So, it's ok if i buy from her and not risking to get the items because the bid was not enough and price too low?

White is easier to match, that's why it's first choice for everyone, and why it's also commonly sold (because most girls only have white petticoats).

Normally a petticoat isn't visible, but as a lolita it's nice to have most of your underthings match. White goes with most colours where pink or lavender might not.

With regards to black, some lighter-coloured summer skirts and dresses can be just thin enough that a black petticoat would show through as s shadow, so the skirt would be a shade darker or murkier than if a white petticoat was used.

Better to go a little larger than too small. I'm a 24 myself and anything that's 23.5 is just a smidge to small, and enough to wear holes in my socks if I wear them long enough.

I have glasses and always wear them with lolita because I don't like how I look without them, though I'm trying to give contacts another chance. I've self-posted here for drawthreads and the like and never once been given shit for it.
