7719998 No.7719998 [Reply] [Original]

destroyed packages, lazy mailmen and absurdly high customs.

once read a story about a package worth 1000 euros destroyed because the buyer wasn't notified of failed delivery and the sender didn't accept returns.

>> No.7720008

A friend of mine told me that customs in Canada used a box cutter on her package that contained SC black op (back when it cost an arm +leg). The box cutter ripped through and slashed the dress!!!! So awful!

I picked u my IW order last week from the custom office, and it looked like OP's pic. Except it was actually teared open. When I picked it up they had at least put it in a plasitc bag but I was still pretty pissed. Thank God nothing of my items was lost, but the little IW letter with the "Thank you"-note was already missing.

I hope this won't happen with my package soon, it's also send by USPS. plus the tracking is fucked up, because it probably wasn't scanned properly. I hope it will pop up at my home in a few weeks

>> No.7720116

I once ordered a pair of those platform sandals for a cosplay I was doing and it was coming from China. Once it got to the states it went through USPS. I had it shipped to my apartment rather than my childhood home, and being an apartment we have a small mailbox. Usually they either leave the package in the backstairs or leave me a slip to go pick it up. No slip, no package. Go to USPS center to pick up package which tracking says was attempted to be delivered. End up getting sent around the whole office looking for the right person to help me before finding the right desk. They told me that because I A) don't have an attempted delivery slip (which they didn't leave) and that my drivers license didn't have my current address on it (had childhood home's address incase anything happened to me/it) that there was no possible way to get it even though I had multiple forms of state issued ID to prove who I was. Package sat for 30 days in their office before being sent back to China, lost $30.

A wig I ordered from AliExpress was stuck for almost two months in the delivery center. When It finally arrived the box was ripped and the wig could be seen from the outside. Never again.
Also, a 10kg Taobao order was stuck in customs for a good month and a half. They sent me the invoice more than two weeks after it had arrived to the warehouse and had to wait another two more after paying before they sent me the actual package.
Things like these make me want to live in the US.

USPS is pretty damn good. It's actually one of the best.

>> No.7720159

Ughh USPS is the worst. I bought CC from a girl within my own state and the guy delivering that day was a replacement for the usual person. Turns out that after everything he didn't even put the package in my box tho he scanned that the package was delivered on my tracking, claimed to check TWICE for it with no luck in the truck it actually was in, and no 'while you were out' slip. I called the office and they claimed they could do nothing for me until it actually turned up and that was it.

It wasn't until I called and made an official claim that they were able to give me updated information that they had found the package on the delivery truck they claimed it wasn't on. Ugh. It was a rough two weeks. Oh! And the girl marked it as insured for wayyy less than what I paid.

And they did the same thing with CDC. I have no luck.

I bought my dream dress from Yahoo Japan Auctions via shopping service and last week I finally picked it up from the post office. However, yesterday when I was organizing my wardrobe I noticed that there was a hole right in the middle of the dress. The auction description only stated that it was "in used condition" and now I'm pretty pissed that I paid so much for a dress that has a noticeable hole right in the middle. I'm not sure if I can make a complaint about it, because I didn't choose the check service (which I regret now)....

I might try to fix it, but I'm not sure how? Picture related.

I bought a pricey chiffon JSK off of Y!JA and it said it had been only worn twice and it was in good condition, but it arrived with discoloration on the silver attachments (had to fix this with toothpaste) and there were tiny loops of thread unwinding from the chiffon in various places all over the skirt. I was pretty disappointed.
And I just bought a Meta dress from Y!JA and the description says "several times wear" but "still in good condition" again. I'm expecting the worst now, really, but at least this one didn't cost me an arm and a leg.

Personally I fucking hate couriers like Fedex and UPS, I've literally had almost nothing but problems with those fucks.

USPS on the other hand, they're great and cheap as hell. I've never lost a package and only once had one delivered to the wrong house.

Fedex has lost 2 of my packages this year alone, and UPS is just fucking slow

That sucks, but I'm confused (been in this situation before where tracking says delivery attempted, no pink slip, addy doesn't match on ID because I recently moved). Did they never make another delivery attempt, especially when you said you did not receive a pink slip, and were you unable to update your ID in 30 days? The final pink slip is the one that includes the date it will be sent back if you don't pick it up from the post office, but that's usually their third attempt. Update your ID addy as soon as you can, anon!

My first taobao order was a starter set of pettis, blouses, some tights, and Chess Story's Starry Night Angel JSK. I don't blame my SS for how it arrived to me, I'm 99% sure it was customs that took the pink plastic Chess Story bag and wadded it into a ball with 2 star clips and a postcard inside. The post card was smashed to hell and one of the star clips was ruined. It's deeply creased and you can't iron those out. The JSK was also wadded in a ball and it took a lot of starching and steaming to get the front bow looking presentable again.
I don't understand why they wadded those things though. I don't mean rolled into a ball either, I mean crunched up and shoved back into the clear plastic pouch. It's faster and easier to quickly fold things to put them in bags.

Also, I would definitely complain to Canada Post if you haven't already. NY here, USPS is the best, Buster Brown and Fedex items always come absolutely smashed.
I once ordered a ring for my boyfriend from Jared and it came in a crumpled, ripped, black (oily?) package with a little note on it that said "sorry package was mangled by machines " I was so mad. Thankfully, even though the box and case were ruined, the ring was fine. So I had to make up a cute way to present it to him since that was the only thing salvageable.
But my USPS is really nice, and I've never had an issue with them. I live in a suburb immediately outside the city and everyone has those tiny pocket mailboxes attached to their house so she actually has to walk, and she leaves packages on our porches or inside our screen doors. the important thing is WHEN it was shipped. UPS will do all they can to get a next day where it needs to be. The drivers have to separate them specifically from the rest and hand them off personally so the package can get on their way. If it was Amazon itself then being that late is simply unacceptable, especially for next day, and Amazon will own up to it. If it was a marketplace seller then all bets are off. You may have paid for next day but that's just the shipping method. The seller might not actually get your package out the door for those two days.

Since it's Amazon, holler at Amazon. They'll most likely refund your shipping money. Then again it's been MONTHS so even I don't know if you're able to get anything.

Amazon will do their best to get you your package on that date. As long as you're in time with their cutoff for shipping those dates will be accurate. Sometimes it'll be shipped from a warehouse halfway across the US via UPS 2 Day, sometimes it'll be shipped overnight from a warehouse in your state by Ontrac, but either way it'll probably show up on the date stated. Standard shipping is going to be something like ground because they get the most discounts on that which is why it has such a far away date.

If it doesn't show up on that date then contact Amazon and they'll make it up to you somehow. Refund your shipping cost, give you some credit on top, etc.

3rd was considered "undeliverable" because of my PO Box address, despite the first two packages.

5th just arrived at the depot, paid the ransom there.
6th repeated the 2nd with less confusion.

Also if you work and have the possibilty to, get your package delivered to your workplace, usually they're too afraid to fuck up company's important package and mail so there's no issues (though I avoid to do it if I might get customs taxes as I don't know how I would deal with it)

I've had amazon prime for years and they always come within the stated 2 days. (Maybe once or twice the items have been delayed a day.)
It kind of sucks because I live close to a warehouse, they'll hold packages so items come EXACTLY to the date, not earlier. (Once they shipped something straight away for some reason, I got it in less than 24 hours. But since then they'll keep items "Preparing for Shipment/Shipping now" for a day before I actually get a tracking #.)

Yeah, I get why people do it in the States. Waiters here get minimum wage, though, so I'm still not sure why we tip them. Although, I'm the only one out of my friends who actually does tip, and it's always 10% unless they really went the extra mile (like this one waitress who overheard it was my bf's birthday and since the birthday singing people had finished their shift she made us a free bowl of brownies and ice cream). I don't tip in places where they write 'Service not included' on the bill, though. In Pizza Hut, they highlight it, which is especially rude. Some places include it on the bill, too, which annoys me a bit.

Tipping etiquette is really weird. Nobody even knows who you're supposed to tip anymore. My last bf worked as a bartender for about 6 months, and in that time he got 20p in tips.

They're kinda visible from the sidewalk but it's a decent part of town so nothing's ever been stolen.

And for horror story a few years ago when I was just starting out selling stuff online I sent off a package to someone after I confirmed their address. The post office also confirmed the address when I mailed it from their building but a week later it gets sent back to me and the sender's name and address was marked out in thick black marker. I tried to contact the buyer and they never replied so that just made things odder.

I have a nice old black lady at my post office.

USPS for me has been a godsend. I don't have my own car so it's great when I need to send out packages I can just stick it in the mailbox and they pick it up. Also once I was checking tracking for an item and it said it arrived at the PO ready for pick up... 2 minutes before it closed on Saturday. I was really bummed but then an hour later they came and delivered it.

Once, though, they left a slip for a package but I had been home all that day waiting for them to knock with nothing, so they didn't even try. Had to wait until Saturday to go pick it up.
If they leave a slip and you just want them to leave the package there, do you put the slip in the mailbox with the flag up? I did that the next day and when I got home the slip remained untouched.

It wasn't damaged but there was a notice from FedEx that they were deliver again the next day and we can post it with a signature and they can leave it front door. I was home all day and they never came by but when I checked tracking for it, they said it was an attempt around the time I went outside to check for mail like I usually do. I called them up and after whatever I got it the next day

There was only one that was really damaged which was , fortunately, just a pair of gloves. Careful with that, I had customs issues with FedEx once. They misread my package value as $2500 instead of 2500 yen (in July). So I got charged customs on $2500. I disputed it and they took for-fucking-ever to sort it out. They kept trying to get me to pay the customs on $2500. When they finally adjusted it (in October), they wouldn't let me pay (phone office said I had to pay in a depot, depot said I had to call and pay by phone, etc.).

They called me to say they were sending it to a 3rd party debt collection agency and finally let me pay the fee by phone (in December, after months of trying to get them to let me fucking pay).

My town (large college town in the midwest) is actually pretty damn hard to live in on minimum wage unless you have someone to live with. I pay about $650/month+utilities for a small one-bedroom outside of the town in a kind of shitty neighborhood. Before that I split an 800sq. ft. 1-bedroom apartment with a housemate and paid $400/mo. (she got the living room and paid $500) to live in a room the size of a walk-in closet.
After taxes, I make less than $1000/mo working full time, so it's good that I split my current apartment with my boyfriend or there's no way in hell I'd be able to afford housing and food in the summer.

>delivered to old house
>great.
>luckily company sends me another game to new address

This aside (which is fucking ridiculous btw - it's the same company, how can warehouses not share information??) Canada Post has been good to me. The mailman I had at the old place would ring/knock and if no one answered he would leave the package behind the screen door if it was small enough. Although that was unlucky for the game. I could've picked it up if he hadn't left it at the house.

I currently live in an apartment and because we don't have a landline, our buzzer doesn't work. So I just expect to pick up everything at the post office, which is fine since it's like 5-10 mins by bus.

Aside from that, I've only used DHL as an alternative. I was charged $30 on an $80 order from the US. I've ordered packages of up to $300 from Japan and Taobao and I've never been charged customs with Canada Post. DHL warehouse is also in the middle of buttfuck nowhere and unreachable by bus. Never again.

Better than what one did to me one time. They shoved the box in the mail box and it took me roughly 15 minutes of violent pulling to get it out. Lazy fucks.

Good idea to ask for shipping time especially if your clock is ticking especially international orders.

Federal min wage is $7.25, but workers who are tipped can make like half that per hour.

I'm so relieved I could cry after worrying about this group order I did. I even had to call USPS at the one week point to see where my package was because stuff I ordered weeks after this got shipped made it to my house.

Also USPS tracking sucks ass because I signed up for text and email alerts and it took me randomly deciding to check the website to find out the damn thing is practically on my doorstep.

I just hope it's in one piece after being in ISC for at least a week. They probably let it go right after I called about it and all the woman would tell me was "I don't know what the hold up is." and advised me to get the sender to start an international inquiry.

I'm not in the US, so I'm not sure what the laws here are about that. Since the customs fee on $25 was peanuts, I think it was worth paying just to get them to leave me the fuck alone.
