It's not even the best Nui cosplay to begin with. Anyway, I didn't say it was god awful, but I simply can't give it any credit. She states on her DA that she used expanding foam to make the wig shape. You can already see that the shape of the wig is going to be bad.

Also her FB page (/Jinglebooboo) shows more pictures and how mildly derpy she looks. Although I really like the Nonon she's with! She looks cute and her uniform looks nice.

I kind of want to see someone attempt a Nui wig made out of something other than hair, like with a smooth molded finish for a really cartoony 2D look. I've seen some Adventure Time cosplays with "wigs" made out of fabric and stuff and it actually looks pretty cool when done well.

Nuis always make the curls so uniform, it's so bad. I also hate how the top masses are always just that, a round mass, when it's clear they are a part of the curl and therefore twist around from the back. I would think if you're carving a shape from foam or whatever in the first place you'd be able to make the correct shape and not some ugly dog-ear looking things.

I actually think this is a case of how non-artistic people look at things as little parts and not as an entire form.

Yeah this always bothers me too, when people have her hair draping vertically from that top curl. When did you ever tie up your hair and have it drape like that? Even if they're gluing wefts onto a form they can drape it correctly.
I'd like to see less uniform curls too. If you look at her hair it's almost like the shape of a banner or ribbon being pulled aside. It's not a perfect corkscrew curl as everyone seems to do it. It almost forms a heart shape so needs to curve inwards.
If I had the legs for Nui I'd do this just to do the wig right.

It looks pretty okay from my standpoint, considering its a wip. I'd suggest once you get more wefts to try to smooth it out a little bit in some places. I also can't really see anything to give it size reference but your foot is like barely in the picture so I'm going to guess its pretty accurately sized, or at least proportionally sized. Something about the colors are really off on this Nui. I don't like that bright magenta and I think part of it is that she's using cool pinks for the dress but the wig is super warm blonde.
Also I wish she had actual plastic shoes.. most of the color issues can be fixed in photoshop, also it looks like this was taken with some shitty flash in an area iwth otherwise bad lighting.

Holy shit, this is perfect! 3 stars. If you're female and this is a product of binding, I'm jealous of how well you can pull it off. Regardless, everything is pretty much perfect and you're one of the only if not few cosplayers who nail Kill La Kill. If you can, photoshop red life fibers all around you for a more badass look. I think any of the pictures would work with life fibers. I'm so impressed at the accuracy and clean execution. Great job!

Yes hello I am female and yeah I made the coat myself. Took about 7 hours to get it right, mostly because I'm lazy and I don't know how to sew sleeves very well. I based the jacket off of the Simplicity Matrix pattern and kind of went with it from there. The mask is made of heat molded acrylic with small bits of craft foam, and googly eyes to emulate the screws, and regular dollar store glasses I found at the dollar store (Go figure). I found the binder at lesloveboat, which I highly suggest because their binders are like top quality and really comfortable and affordable, and the wig really just needed some styling and a ponytail and it was good to go. It was pretty simple to make, all things considered.

The wig is seems to be a hit or a miss from photo to photo.
The sleeves need to be bunched more because they're too low on her forearms.
Her glove is beyond crap, and I'd suggest remaking it and adding foam or something to the wrist.
The cape on the back of her top is 2x longer than it should be.
The pleats in her skirt are too wide, but it has the right length and sits where it should.

She's not awful, but for a relatively simple costume she needs to correct a few things, especially with the top and glove, to not be just another mediocre school uniform Ryuko.

I used a cheap shako off of eBay for the base of mine, but the back flares and taking it apart is a pain. Just don't use a baseball cap for the base, which is what I see a lot of Nonons do. The brim should be round.

For the baton, I just got a ball of foam, stuck a wooden dowel through it, and covered it in paperclay. For the little cord-things going up the baton's stick, I found this thick plastic beading string. It took a couple coats of Gesso for the pink paint to stick, but it looks fine.
