Ask, get help, etc etc

Anyone here wear wigs everyday/almost everyday?
I would like to because I can't stop pulling my hair out, and it's gotten worse so.. yeah.

Hiya!
I don't wear them everyday, but I do wear them for work (since my real hair is a bright green chelsea) and occasionally just for fun!
Wigs are great, I recommend investing in some cute natural coloured ones for everyday use! People will never realize it's a wig. And for an everyday wig, pay good money for one. Don't go cheap. Especially if you want realistic.
You can also get the cute unnatural ones, but it's easier to tell that's a wig unless you wear it right, or have a nice one.
Also, PUT YOUR HEALTH FIRST. Wigs can get really fucking hot. If you know it's going to be a really hot day, don't risk it.

And also, there is nothing wrong with wearing wigs!
They're cute and fun, and a cheap fun way to change up your look every once in a while!
Don't let anyone give you shit for it, wigs are amazing.

Where'd you buy yours?
I bought mines from Taobao, Lockshop and other places.
I really want realistic...
Yeah, I don't wear wigs on hot days, I have a hat for that, kek.

What would be a good wig for this?

I'm also not sure if it's like, a dark purple or just straight up black.

Not OP but there's some sort of disorder or something that causes this. I have a coworker who does it and she's getting bad right now as well.

I don't think I have the disorder that >>7665877's coworker has, but I pull my hair out a lot when I'm stressed or nervous.
So yeah, It's all disgusting and shit, and I feel terrible and ugly, so i'm trying to cover up and what not.

If you want to be accurate you should go with Homura's original hair color, a cool dark grey

Can someone point me in a good direction for a cheap wig for Keishin from Haikyuu? I looked on taobao but they didn't have any. Even if the wig is similar that would be great .

It's clearly supposed to be black, anon. Animators rarely use true black.

yo trichotillomania bro(s?)

I pick the crap out of my arms, but I've been doing it for 10+ years so I don't really give a fuck anymore.

as long as your wig isn't extremely shiny or overly thin no random person you don't know will think it's a wig.

Are you willing to throw down for a lacefront? Arda's Cady would probably work.

I don't think so, you can definitely tell when a character has black hair. Her hair is quite a few shades off from black. Personally I think that Homura cosplays with dark grey wigs look more balanced anyways.

OP here, I don't even know if it's trich.. maybe I'm just in denial, but doesn't feel like I have it, you know? I guess I'll check it out with my doctor whenever.

It's worth checking out anyway, even if it's only confirmation that you don't have it. Good luck OP.

Lacefront wigs are what it sounds like - wigs with lace in the front. They simulate a natural hairline. A lot of anime characters have bangs in front, but for those with a visible hairline, like the character you posted, many wigs can look unnatural. That's why people wear lacefronts. Unfortunately, they're pretty expensive.

Nice double trips, but come on girl. I can tell from what you've written that you have trich.

Best hairspray to keep wig bangs in place? I've seen got2be recommended in one of the wig generals but I've also read that it's not the best on certain colors so I want more opinions

I've heard lots of good things about Lockshop wigs and I'm dying to see photos/hear more reviews from anons since I know they'll be more honest.
I'm looking at their silky straight collections or anything with blunt bangs that are long in natural colors for everyday wear so I can get a job [hair is dyed an unatural color and I don't want to damage it by dying it again] - can I have some reviews/advice/opinions? Thanks.

Or you could get the 60" white one and sharpie-dye it. Depends on your height.

So I asked in Cosplay General Help thread and I didn't get a answer I could work with.
So I'm going to be doing is the character in pic for the next anime con I'm going to and all I really have left is the wig.
The anon in the other thread told me to sew in some wefts to a shorter wig, but I don't have enough money for that. What I was thinking is working with some wigs from Arda and either cut down a side from a Buttercup, or splice a section of the Buttercup to a shorter wig, like a Jaguar (The only style that has the color I need in stock.)
Is it possible to cut a long wig short without having the wefts show? (Also if there are any tutorials, that would be awesome)
Would splicing a wig together be okay for those certain styles, the Buttercup having a skin piece and all.
wat do

>> No.7669451

Does anyone know a good online source of heat-resistant wefts? I'm afraid to just splurge out and get shit that melts in return.

As someone who has suffered from trich since she was 11, you sound like you have trich to me. Invest in a good lacefront because it keeps you from pulling and covers bald spots. And just another trick I learned is wear a rubberband around your wrist and snap it HARD anytime you find yourself pulling. Your body learns to associate pulling with pain so it wont resort to it whenever you feel stressed out. Not a guaranteed fix though.

One thing I've noticed about long wigs is that they're not really friendly if you cut them too short (such as the shorter half in your picture). The fibers stick out. You can, however, try gelling/hairspraying that half completely flat, it seems like the character's hair is like that.

>> No.7670312

>>7669451
A lot of wigs are heat-resistant, at least that /cgl/ buys.
Kanekalon is the most common type of fiber you'll run into, which is heat-resistant. Arda uses another kind called Hiperlon or something, and it's fine too.

Nowdays, the only wigs that really melt are the crappy Halloween ones. If you're spending $15 or less on a wig, it'll melt.

I don't have the silky straight, but I have quite a few of their other models...Cascade, Wave, Soft curls, soft bob, and siren. A friend of mine has the mermaid. They're all very soft and have a lot of hair. They pass for real hair without a problem, people who see me without the wig later are usually very confused. They all come with long bangs that you have to cut yourself (they're slightly too long to sweep to the side). I'm really happy with all of mine and get a lot of compliments! I'd recommend them.

I have no idea how to do the wig for Kotori Minami from Love Live!
Attached are the 3 pieces of the wig I received and 2 reference pictures. I have no idea exactly what to do with what pieces to recreate her weird hairstyle... currently, I think that the clipon (red) is supposed to be the "side ponytail" part and that the extra extension (blue) is supposed to form the little loop and hair piece that sits on her head?
Honestly, I have no idea. Also, does anyone know why there are little comb pieces attached to the extension? I thought it was used to cling into the long wig, but it doesn't stick, so I guess I'm doing something wrong? Excuse the messiness of the picture and thanks in advance!

I'm not looking for wigs though, just the loose wefts for adding to wigs or making hairpieces. Having a hard time because literally every weft that isn't human hair is labeled heat resistant, but I don't trust cheapo Amazon/Ebay/Aliexpress sellers to correctly label shit.
I have some doll wigs made out of it and I wanna find that same material. Its very silky and soft, more so than the nylon or kanekalon I've had experience with, and as far as I've tested it with my curling iron it can handle over 300F without frizzing. No idea what it specifically is though as I'm not even sure what shop it came from.

Hello there all. I had a question about extension pieces, I am looking for something to try out and was curious if anyone had experience with l-email extensions and pieces? I know that their wigs are supposed to be good for the price, I was more interested in trying a super cheap one from them to see quality, rather than going for the human hair ones first. If anyone had any experience it would be great to know the general consensus!
