Requesting these too! I know there are shitt ons of tutorials out there, but maybe someone wants to share a few experiences? One of my friends made a bonnnet herself (sadly I do not have the link to the tutorial), and it turned out quite nice. She told me it was pretty easy to do, so I am thinking about making one myself beofre buying a $100+ burando one.

I don't know but I hate bonnets. Few years ago I'd scream my lungs out for a bonnet and now I feel they are kinda meh. I had one '(Elpress L) and I sold it. I don't regret it.
It's really hard to look good in a bonnet imho plus it's really costume-y.

Tbh I think coords like this look less costume-y than OTT sweet coords. It's more doll-like, IMO. This is why I fell in love with Lolita.

The doll-like properties is why I fell in love with lolita as well. Most OTT sweet co-ords don't look doll-like at all, which is why I prefer classic.

Also, Classic doesn't depend as much on the print of their dress, so they have to find new ways to layer, riffle and design. Unlike... *cough* Angelic pretty, who will often use the same dress pattern, only changing the fabric.

I... am pretty sure it's a bonnet. there's elastic on the back, which I want to cut off. But it also has the two tie ribbons hanging down. If it was a visor, I wouldn't understand the point to the ribbons. When worn, it does have a proper shape and size to it.

One would clearly think, with my love for bonnets i must have a million, yet I have none.
In the process of making one though.

I'm working on making my first bonnet. I have no fucking idea what I am doing so I am just rolling with it. But I took a sun visor from the dollar tree, and cut it in half to be my pattern, and went from there. It's off on one side, but it's just a practice bonnet. Any concrit is welcomed

Would you ladies happen to know of any reputable etsy stores or equivalent that sell nice bonnets? I really hate dealing with Taobao.

The best way to make a bonnet is to buy a wide brimmed sunhat, cut it, iron the brim so it stands straight, glue\sew on fabric and decorations (pearls, flowers, jewels) and attach wide ribbon to tie under your chin.

She's not fat. It's the bust of the dress. I have the same cut and if you've got a bigger difference between bust and underbust than a modest B, it pulls up in front like that. A lot of AatP is not boob-friendly at all.

Doesn't always matter, there's a stupid bias against raschel lace even though other types of lace are just as cheap (check taobao brands). It's just been used in abundance on really bad dresses, but when it's used properly it doesn't really take away from a nice piece.

I personally love bonnets, but really only the stiff-brim type. The floppy gathered ones remind me too much of little kids clothing. I like the ones with a clearer historical influence, and find them very elegant and doll-like.

i love stiff-brimmed bonnets, i feel like those floppy ones are way too age-play baby bullshit. i like the bonnets with detail on the inside, though. brand bonnets are kind of disappointing in that regard.

They're both by cloudberry lady who's a finnish indie lolita designer. Those dresses were runway only, I believe, and were auctioned later. I'm not 100% sure though.

I've always loved bonnets, but I just don't think they would look good on me at all. I have a similar face shape to Misako, and whenever she wears a bonnet she just looks like a dog with a cone.
I find that bonnets tend to better suit those with higher or more defined cheekbones, otherwise it just accentuates the roundness of the face.

I have a love hate relationship with bonnets. On one hand, I think they look great with gothic and classic, which are my preferred styles. On the other hand I have a round ass face and I doubt that'd be flattering, and I'm unwilling to put a couple hundred into testing the waters.

Use a claw clip! Twist up your hair or wig and use one of those giant claw clips to hold it up just behind the bonnnet, then tie it at the nape of your neck, that is what I do.
