There's only a little over two weeks until Metrocon. Let's have a Metrocon thread!
>Are you going?
>Who will you be cosplaying?
>What are you planning to do?

>> No.7636712

>>7636598
OK. So a big group of friends were supposed to crash at my parents house. But everyone has bailed.

Don't have any cosplay planned but I do have a bit of time to throw something together once I get back to the US on July 1st.

Or I could stay home [in Georgia] and work on cosplay for DragonCon.

I love Metrocon, it's my first and home con, but last year was meh. Should I stay or should I go anon?

I won't have my costume finished in time
It's my first metrocon, so I guess I'll just be wandering around.
Is the dealer's room usually any good?

>>7636712
As shitty as that all sounds, I'd still go. Is there any other friends you could take along?

Originally, my friends were planning a Fire Emblem Awakening group cosplay, but now everyone is saying they're too lazy and apparently I'm the only person who is actually going to dress up.

Tbh, I was very insecure about the idea of cosplaying in the first place, but I felt better knowing that everyone else was going to join in.

>tfw I need better cosplay friends

>> No.7637321

>>7636935
No. Honestly metrocon is kind of a shit con, especially with the dealers room. The dealers room is kinda of the same 5 booths over and over, not a lot of variety. I really only go because its in the summer and all my friends and I can attend. (Shado con is a much better tampa con imo but, even thats starting to go down the toilet)
The artists alley can be decent however.

Are there any Florida cons worth visiting? Every con I see mentioned on cgl seems to get mostly hate. Looking to attend my first.

>> No.7637352

>>7637332
Megacon isnt terrible, its main feature is the dealers room which has always been impressive.
I didnt attend Shado-con in 2013 but I did its first 3 years and it was okay.It should be in a bigger location.
I attended Spooky Empires May-Hem for the first time this Year in Orlando and that has becoem my new favorite convention. Its a horror con though.
Tbh I think the main reason I dont like a lot of Florida cons anymore is because I've become jaded with how people act at them. I really dislike the younger crowds of anime conventions and Im only 20. I really liked May-hem and it was mostly an older, more relaxed crowd, so my opnion on FL cons should be taken with a grain of salt.

>> No.7637412

>>7637352
Wow, checked out Spooky Empire, looks great and I'm into horror so I'll check that out for sure as I live in Orlando. Not sure how I will react to the younger crowd as I'm 21 but thanks for the suggestions. I'll probably check out Mythicon in September out of curiosity

saged for OT

Yeah and its twice a year which is cool. They always have really great guests that attend as well, from modern TV to old school sci-fi horror icons.
Perhaps we'll cross paths if you attend in October anon!

I'm actually helping host a panel at Metro this year!
It's called Team Rocket RUNNING MAN Hunger Games
I know it's kind of a shoddy title.
But it's loosely based on Running Man, and we're giving out free food/candy/prizes
If you're there early enough, you'll be guaranteed a food prize.
And if you're lucky, you might be picked to be in the Hunger Games.

>> No.7638783

A friend and I are being Shintaro and Ayano from Mekakucity Actors, but most of the time I'll either be playing in the game room or shopping in the dealer's room. Excited for the rave parties!

Talked it out with boyfriend, we're gonna go.

Going to bring shitty Aku. Mad because I would have liked to have finished the new version by the con, but that ain't gonna happen.

>have a good time, either go to a party or start one

Not sure how the whole party thing is gonna go, but by god I'm gonna try... I got bottles of kettle one and possibly a keg of Heineken as well as a decent amount of mango kush. All I need is a room, some qt's and anons willing to get crazy

Any anons wana help me throw a party? I wana put Metrocon back on the con-party map.

Does anyone want to have a meet up and play werewolf or is that a Megacon-only thing?

That sounds fun, I'd consider going. Where would we meet up to play?

Going for my second year in a row, rocking Braeburn and Alec Lughtwood. Gonna be another seagull booth where squaking is rewarded with buttons?

>> No.7648750

I'm not sure why a lot of people don't seem to like this con...I mean, sure it isn't as big as Mega, but it's well organized, the venue is nice, and I always have a pretty good time. After the nightmare that was Megacon 2014, I'll be glad to attend something more low-key.

why was Megacon a nightmare

INSANE overcrowding, impossible to find parking, horribly, terribly organized lines for panels and badges. There were a ton of complaints this year.

This. Not to mention that they moved the convention centre.

>> No.7649461

I'll be there all three days this year. I'm pretty excited since I haven't gone all three days for a couple of years. Cosplay wise? Hopefully I can get Washuu done in time, I'll be bringing that along with Emerald and Sailor Mercury.

>> No.7649814

AND they upped the price to 70 dollars last minute. I know it's 10 dollars, but honestly that's unexpected and threw many people off that I talked to in line.

This Mans name is Robert Ashburn, aka, FigmentsMedia and he is a stalker and a psycho photographer who has traumatized multiple cosplayers in the Miami, Orlando and Tampa areas over the past 2 and a half years.

Havent been to Metro since 2k12 I hope it's as fun as it was that year...

Also first time I forgot to pre pay for a badge for a convention ever, I hope the line isn't ridiculous on Friday to buy a weekend pass, uhhhhh...

>> No.7649986

>>7649978
It usually isn't if you go early in the morning. I usually buy it every friday morning before 10:30-11 and the lines only been about 10-15 minute wait at the worst?
idk what I consider long is different since I remember the great Megacon lione of 2008

Idk who he is, but if I see him Ill keep a close eye out, if I see him trying shit he's leaving metrocon in an ambulance...

And the fedora, glasses and leather jacket in Florida kinda gives away that he's a creep

>> No.7652413

>>7649945
Im not sure about the stalker psycho part but I asked for stories on him on tumblr and got a few girls saying hes creepy towards female cosplayers in revealing costumes. He would give them "ideas for a better cosplay" which was basically just making the outfit more revealing. He also tries to get private shoots with these girls. So I would keep an eye out for him.

They were pretty hands on with their search for drugs/alcohol last year.

I'd be down with a meetup, but don't really know the convention center well enough to designate one. Possibly also say who you're cosplaying as you don't sound like an aspire going up to everybody walking by the spot and saying "are you from /cgl/ or some 4chan related shit"

I'll be there Friday and possibly Saturday, considering not many (if anybody) people are cosplaying Aku I might just go up to you IRL and say I'm from /cgl/ and we can take it from there I suppose
