just general wedding inspo, I suppose.
this includes
>floor length lolita dresses (none of that underskirt shit though)
>lolita dresses that would be appropriate for weddings-don't have to be floor length
>general wedding talk/fantasies
>rings (Japan only or cosplay rings only)
>cosplay wedding dresses/ballgowns (only those, or else the thread would be dominated by cosplay)
>floor length dresses that look amazing (could be from anywhere, but preferably Japanese)

sources are appreciated

Perfect thread!
I've been trying to think of wedding themes, but I can't think of any, all I know Is that I want my bridesmaids to have their outfits themed off of magical girls, in a formal way of course.

Cute, frilly bridesmaid dresses each in a Sailor Senshi's color would be adorable. Would be fun to hand out colors based on the personalities of the bridesmaids and the characters they resemble. Maybe the bride can have SM's colors and the groom a TM-inspired outfit.

A Sailor Moon wedding is pretty easy to set up, the outfits in pic related are just the thing. But since you mentioned Rayearth, it'd be nice if you were all in the same theme, so you could use Emeraude's dress design as a base while they get one of the many outfits from the artbook. If you wear your natural hair rather than wigs (or at least wigs with natural colors), their flower crown outfits can look very nice and appropriate for an outdoor wedding.

For Rayearth, it would be nice if you did Princess Emeraude as the bride to accompany the bridesmaids.

I myself am young, I'm turning 19 in a few months, so I'm not sure why most gypsies let their kids dress that way. My mom the gypsy parent and she was shunned for awhile for marrying an outsider. My father is very conservative and would never allow me to dress like that. From what I gather I believe that the women in the community are mostly for show. They cook, they clean, they look sexy for their men. Most men do nothing around the home. It's as if they took the idea of trophy wife and archaic roles and twisted it really badly. I do like shiny things, it just happens from growing up around all of the odd dresses and stuff, you start to think it's normal. And as for isolation, no one wants to interact with gypsies. We're dirty thieving retards for the most part. We stay within our own community, not my family thank god, and our sense of fashion, morals, and anything else becomes warped. I've been to too many weddings and birthdays with ugly clothes for a life time. /rant

>>7593010
Yeah, exactly. I can understand people throwing in a subtle, universal theme for fun (let's say having a wedding in Hawaii and having a beach theme) but basing it around a niche and, frankly, what most people would consider to be a weird and childish hobby/interest like anime, lolita, or steampunk... really?

I used to work weddings at a fancy country club and would mostly get princess/royal themes but occasionally we'd have some pretty interesting ones.. like the halloween wedding with a mad hatter style cake.

And that's why. Gypsies who are considered 'non-Romani' are pretty much the only normal gypsies. Only problem is the other gypsies that make it bad for them by shitting up their name. My uncle has to say he is Spanish when people ask him why his skin is darker, because he's a lawyer and nobody would hire him if they knew he was a gypsy. And they pressure you to be crazy as fuck as well or you don't belong and then they turn violent.

Me and my SO's five year anniversary is coming up so I suggested we should renew our vows or something like that and have a nice dinner with a handful of people. I told him I wanted to maybe wear lolita and he was pretty excited about that. He likes me in it and thinks it's something that suits me and reflects me well. Our circumstances didn't allow us to have a nice ceremony or anything so that'd be nice for sure.

I'm pretty stoked, not sure if I want to find some kind of nice white op or jsk or gather inspiration and make something myself. it'd be a little bit daunting but the idea of making something exactly to my tastes is nice. I just don't want to churn out a poorly constructed lace monster haha.

plus when a lot of people buy a wedding dress they pay thousands of dollars but then they throw it away or let it rot in storage. that's such a waste, this way I could re-wear the dress sometime.

western models are used a lot for wedding dress photos.

Usually, Japanese brides change outfits about 3 or 4 times on their wedding day, and one of the outfits is a western style dress.
They have 1 specific kimono for before the ritual, then another for during, then the western dress and then the party one. A lot of them end up crying during the day because they're exhausted from it all.
Men on the other hand just change twice, kimono and tuxedo.

Wealthy, city brides, sure. A lot of women though are saying fuck the ritual entirely though, because buddhist weddings are expensive, long as fuck, and EXTREMELY taxing for the bride. Easier and cheaper to have a Western style wedding, even if you're going all out with it.

Mara is like the goddess of love and motherhood and shit. People who preordered the game got two rings, the Rings of Mara, one of which they could give to another player in the Ritual of Mara. From that point on you get extra exp when playing together. The pledge can only be taken once.
So basically it's like getting married in-game (all those delicious little fanboy "but that's gayyy" tears) and my boyfriend just straight up asked me, while were were playing together, when we were getting married. The goat decided that rather than eat any of the actual edible stuff around, chewing the skirt I was in was the better idea (which led to me putting a finger in its mouth to save the skirt because fingers can heal and ending up with a goat bite, which is probably lucky because I was with baby alligators earlier in the day and I'd rather have a goat bite than an alligator one).

Something cheap like under $1k, no huge stones, but rustic and doesn't have anything that sticks out and gets caught on things. I'd love a bronze-colored band.

My boyfriend wants to pick out an engagement ring together so he wouldn't mess up, but I hope we find something cheap and not so gaudy.

Definitely would not recommend using this stone for a ring you're going to wear every day. I've got several opal rings of varying quality (birthstone, and my family are not that creative when it comes to jewelry). They are beautiful stones, but they scratch so easily. I had to go to a specialist to get one of the rings resized, since they had to completely remove the stone from the setting to prevent the opal from cracking/shattering.

>> No.7639495

Jewelers almost always remove stones for sizing jobs larger than a half size. Reshaping the band so much causes the shape of the setting to change, potentially scratching or cracking the stone.

Care? Not especially. Know? Yes.

Because it's been slapped onto every birthday thing ever since I was a kid. The only reason I have a fondness for my birthstone is because my grandpa brought me one from Ausrtalia when I was like. Four. (October, Opal, clearly) So I have a serious softspot for them as a result of the attached feelings there. Plus, they're pretty. I still wear the one he got me. It's ittybitty. But it's nice to have something that reminds me of him and my gran.

I also like Tourmaline, but do not like *pink* tourmaline specifically, which is October's 'other' stone, so. Yeah. In high school, you were supposed to get your birthstone on your class ring. I said 'fuck that' and got a garnet because I thought it was prettier. I'm doing some reading, and you're both right. De Beers pushed diamonds as the "best" and "only" stone for engagement rings when they found them in South Africa. They artificially drove the price up to make them more desirable too.

However, the ring itself was also touted as a security measure as a part of that marketing. Not just as a failsafe against becoming a widow, but also in the event that the woman was jilted by her groom to be. Apparently, a woman could sue for breach of promise if he left, particularly if she'd had premarital sex with him on the understanding that they were going to be married soon. The engagement ring was basically collateral to protect her future, should he turn out to be a liar.

... outdated as fuck, considering the way society works now, and really strange that the tradition of expensive rings has still stuck around without that backing.

I don't really have a particular ring in mind. I like both white and yellow gold, and I don't particularly like over-the-top huge stones. Something delicate and tasteful is more my style. My birthstone is aquamarine, according to one list, anyway. I went on Wikipedia and there's a million lists. Also apparently there's a gem for the day of the week you were born? haha. anyway, I like aquamarine as a stone so a splash of colour like that would be great! Wasnt mine, but a friend had a pretty crazy/adorable proposal. They were in Disney, in the Cinderella restaurant, and it was dessert time. She ordered some kind of ice cream and apparently was really damn excited for some fancy ice cream. Waiter comes back with a silver covered tray, lifts it off and there's a glass slipper with a rose and a ring inside. Whole restaurant goes ballistic and cheers, her boyfriend is down on one knee, and she says for about 5 seconds she didn't even get what was going on and was just like "what the fuck this is not my ice cream"

There's some guides to figuring out if your ring is valuable, just google "diamond candle values" or something like that. From what I remember when I looked it up, you can tell by looking inside the ring. Some of their rings are inexpensive costume jewelry from China or Taiwan, and will be either unmarked or have country of origin inside. But something like one in 100 will be a real piece, and will have numbers inside or have some kind of marking relating to the carat value.
