Try to do something unique with it. Make playsets of characters from shows or something using amigurumi. They can be very simple, but as long as they're recognizable you could do well. To make its clearer though, think of it like this. Lolita is clothes (even if it looks costumey to most people) and is made clothes-quality. This is a costume trying to be lolita, and is therefore costume quality and not exactly designed or constructed in a way that real lolita is. Its like going to the Halloween store and buying a "Victorian vampire" costume and thinking you can wear it to a living history event and call yourself authentic. It kind of looks the same from a distance, but its made of super cheap fabric and in the cheapest, quickest, easiest way possible.
