I know what you mean, I found that every time I bent over the scallops would flip up because of it too. If I get the chance to wear her again later in the year then I'll see about re-doing the bodice. I need to make the white bits on the top of the bodice more solid too as they kept flopping. Sadly I don't have time to re-do it for Japan Expo next month which is when I'm hopefully getting the wig and boots done for.
I'm really glad I wore it, despite it not being finished. It was a great test run for seeing what needs improving!

Interfacing should sort out your floppy bits.
I would also put the same trim on the first layer of the skirt, it looks a bit unfinished.
I'm also wondering about your wrist cuff things, it's hard to tell how long they actually are as Nui has disproportionately long forearms but I think they would look better slightly longer.
The giant headbow also doesn't look quite accurate, it looks like you've made it as a giant rectangle as opposed to it being folded over (i.e. more like a giant ribbon bow)

First off; a question. What are bust gores? I'm terrible with terminology.

In regards to the bodice having no trim, I did experiment but it just looked off, so decided against it. But I did wonder what others thought about it. Maybe on the re-do I'll try something a little different.

She does have disproportionately long forearms but now that you've pointed it out I made them too short.

The bow is folded over I just forgot to fluff it up after being packed flat. That's something I'll need to remember to do on the day along with actually putting it on the right side. I hate it when you only realise those sort of things at the end of the day.


Anyway! Things to do are:
>Increase the pattern pieces & use more boning.
>Interface the white.
>Make the wrist cuffs slightly longer.

Bust gores are also known as bust gussets, basically it's a shaped bit of fabric you add into the bust area to make it accommodate boobs better without having to cut a gazillion full length pattern pieces. It basically does the reverse of what a dart does. Corsetmakers on livejournal has the best resources for it including best choice of shape for gores, etc. It would probably be easier to do it with more panels to distribute the curve more evenly but that will put seams through the middle of the 'petals' in Nui's skirt.

I wonder whether trimming both the top and bottom of the bodice will make it look more even/balanced?

That's true, I'm not sure how good that would look but I can only give it a shot. I'll experiment with patterns to see if I can make it more accommodating in the bust, yet keeping the front petal seam free as best as possible.

Hmm, I quite like that Idea, I found some really cute lace in the right colours when I was buy the bias binding before. Rather than using the bias I could re-make it all and gathering the lace around the edges on the skirt as well. It'll be subtle yet effective. Thank you so much for all of your help.

So far I've made the base of it from expanding foam; it's slightly too tall, but my main problem is that it's a bit top heavy, so it's not staying on my head very well. I was at Colossalcon but I didn't bring Tsumugu with me. There were a couple other dudes I saw who wore Tsumugu that weekend though so, who knows :3 Next con for Tsumugu mad dogging will be at AX.

Opinions on trim? I sewed on the lace trim for my Nonon final Ultima uniform but you can barely see it, so despite it matching the gold perfectly I went and got another to compare. The wider lace is much shinier and has better visual impact but is more metallic/cold gold as opposed to the narrow lace which is more golden yellow with metallic thread woven in. Any suggestions on which looks better, or what I could do to colour the wider trim to more closely match the yellow-gold?

Mostly a lack of time and devotion. It's 4 way stretch fabric, bright yellow on the reverse (which is of course going to be visible), and I can't fuse or glue it securely without turning it bronze/the metallic gold coming off and leaving the yellow visible. I can't quite bring myself to cut, sew, and notch seams for an entire hem's worth of scallops and then gingerly press them with weight alone....I've drawn a line in the sand since I've been forced into blind hemming the skirt by hand.

Diff anon, but: I think part of it is also who has experience working with ACP. If you've done events with them in the past and displayed a solid work ethic and good costume quality, it works in your favor.
