Fat people should not be cosplaying Attack on Titan. Being a lard and cosplaying fit characters looks utterly shitty to begin with, but in Attack on Titan it is a major plot point that there is a food shortage and the people are starving. The only fat characters are the corrupt aristocrats.
Literally no military characters are fat.

Landwhales of /cgl/, stop cosplaying Attack on Titan.

The thing is, I don't think fat cosplayers who want to be taken seriously /would/ cosplay snk. If their goal is to work with their weight and look good in suiting costumes, they'll be smart enough to avoid it.

The fatties that do cosplay snk are probably, in most cases, sweaty weeaboo teenagers who bought the premade cosplay and are doing so just for fun, not for the sake of being some canon-accurate cosplay goddess.

I dunno, as someone who used to wear shitty cosplays in middle school and high school just because it was fun and exciting and I wasn't skilled enough to do any better, I've never had a problem with kids who wear whatever makes them happy no matter how shitty it looks.

If they're claiming to be some real life incarnation of a character and tumblr starts screaming about how ~perfect~ and ~totally accurate~ they are when they obviously aren't, that's the only time I have a problem.

tl;dr let the fatties and shit cosplayers have their fun. I doubt they're looking for your approval.

Usually it's the fairly new series that don't have that kind of stigma, with exceptions like Kill la Kill.

"Moeshit" is your safest bet since people who are into stuff like AoT or Kill la Kill loathe that kind of anime. Pretty much any anime these days is "non-casual" since anime cosplay is getting more and more rare at conventions.

And this is why I cosplayed garrison.
I'm not landwhale territory but I've definitely got a soft middle and that makes me not fit.

When I was thinking about making it and I was checking out what other people were doing I saw so many really big Hanjis, Levis, and Armins that I thought it would be nice not to be yet another non-fit character that clearly is.

I don't see it that way. If the fanart is good then go for it. Ginjinkas, Rule 63s, alt colors, grown up, ect are all fanarts and they can suck balls or be really good. Admittedly most fans can't draw worth crap but some of them can and when they add on to an established canon it can be good.

Like, if someone has an inkling of who you are and ask you for clarification, then sure, but if someone goes "I have NO idea who you are" and you have to explain that you're cosplaying a version of an established character you saw in a fanart, that's another thing entirely.

And I know that the same argument could be leveled against gijinkas, genderbends, bad cosplays, and so on to the point of being a meaningless argument, but my experience with people cosplaying fanart versions of characters is that they rarely turn out well. >>7598539 is an obvious exception.
