Guys wearing female cosplay. Not the crossplayers who trap really well or Touhou fans, just the ones that think they're being funny because they're wearing a female character's outfit, like Madoka's dress.

Pretty much flavor of the month stuff always gets old to me quickly. Shingeki, KlK, and Sailor Moon. I like Sailor Moon but I'm so sick of seeing it everywhere. If you claim to love magical girl shows so much, why don't you cosplay from another one?

Not so much the costume, but when groups go as Raccoon City cops, military group, or hell, any kind of law-enforcing group.

Sword Art Online has just completely passed being sick of it to the point where it's become a joke among my group of friends. Same with Attack on Titan.

Frozen has gotten ridiculously out-of-hand. I don't mind Ryukos in general, but 98% of them, even the regular uniform ones, are pretty bad. I feel bad for this guy. I really do. Reading his post, I sensed someone who had a good time and probably lacked the creativity and money to really portray the character he was cosplaying. To be honest, I think that whole "Can you believe no one knew who I was" thing was just an attempt at sarcasm, since he is aware that his cosply isn't the best, which is why I think he mentions the wig thing at the end. When I cosplayed Okabe, I ended up getting looked down on by another Okabe cosplayer for a) using a wig and b) having a white shirt as opposed to a grey one like his was, because I was actually cosplaying the visual novel design as opposed to the anime. The designs are colorful and ornamental rather than practical. What they look like to me is that someone applied the usual design standards for female fantasy characters to a bunch of male characters, with very pretty results. I like them (haven't played DMMD, just seen the designs around a lot).

Jojo isn't going to take off like SnK for the following reasons.

- ASB didn't sell like wildfire in the US
- Overall exposure to Jojo in the US is minimal in general.
- Huge commitment to be up to date on all parts and character
- Super hardcore fanbase ready to punish newbies who don't know Jojo as well as them
- Female characters are non existent in the earlier parts
- Male characters are super buff which discourages crossplay
- All outfits require insane makeup and costumes (outside of early part 1 outfits) are difficult to make and the wigwork also takes skill.
- No copy/paste uniforms (see Bleach and SnK) meaning each character needs to be worked on an individual basis

Tardis dresses. There was an actual personification for the Tardis in a Neil Gaiman episode. Make that. It's important to note that Jojo has a few things going for it that really hinder the possibility of a massive Hetalia/Homestuck/Titan-tier fandom cropping up.

It has a weird and eccentric aesthetic. Not to mention that the Anime plays with color and weird ways.

There are a ton of references that younger audiences won't get and the confusion over them will anger and turn away some audiences

It's confusing and full of plot holes, but at the same time, the canon is well established and leaves no room for headcanon and shipping bullshit.

The characters are all VERY distinct. Huge casts with wildly different characters of all kinds of cultures and styles and influences. Unlike SnK or Homestuck, the huge cast doesn't consist of a ton of characters all wearing a variation of the same uniform or design.

It can get rather violent and unpleasant in most parts. Blood, death, torture, random violence, and characters dying when you least expect it. SnK may seem pretty violent, but they established plot armor on all their important characters ages ago. The shock of people dying is lost when most have some sort of ridiculous Titan healing power or miraculous dodging ability.

Some people may try to the do typical fandom bullshit to Jojo, but it can't stick. Jojo is safe from the tumblr treatment.

Because Jojo cosplayers used to be in the single digits so seeing the resurgence is making people happy. Also Jojo characters are loved because of their crazy designs, colors and poses so its really easy for them to catch people eyes.

With that said, a guy doing a Jojo cosplay is one of the few times he can garner a lot of attention without building a huge suit of armor

If memory serves, Hasbro has fought long and hard to drive the Bronies off (or at least they were doing so back in about 2012 when I still knew people who watched the show). It tarnished their brand image pretty seriously, since they'd get weird men hanging about in MLP toy store aisles and harassing their kids. Sloppy belts/ jackets are getting on my last nerve though. I know everyone is buying their cosplay, I get that. But buyers are frequently completely ignorant of how to tailor their clothing to fit. So you have sloppy ill fitting everything when you know damn well those uniforms fit snugly. I just want to take everyone aside and take in jackets and saggy pants, velcro belts to the pants, and give them all proper tall boots. Also we are ironing everything.. holy shit. On topic: DMMD. It's not even a matter of crossplay or tumblr or over-cosplayed series it's just that it's a fucking ero-game. What the fuck. And then there's DMMD meetups and I DO NOT GET why you'd ever want to go to a gathering with a bunch of 15yo girls with the common denominator that you wank to the same porn. And then I also find the designs ridiculous, not in a 80's so-bad-it's-good-or-at-least-charming way, just plain bad. What the fuck. My pet peeve is wrinkled up costumes that do cosplayers no favours in looking like the character they're meant to be. It just looks so bad...so very bad. If you're in accommodation and have access to an iron, then use it. If you're commuting from somewhere, wear the costume down to the con, ignore everyone else for thinking you look strange ex. public transport and don't keep it crumpled in your bag. Hell iron it, hang it up and keep it in a dress/suit carrier bag-carry it all the way if you have to.

Just that bit of steam makes a costume look flawless and the sheer lack of effort I see with so many cosplayers hurts my soul.

there's so many things that I'm tired of seeing at cons that I decided to do something about it...I decided that instead of getting mad or frustrated or even annoyed, I would turn it into a game for me and my group. I go with my husband and friends every year, and this year there will be an even bigger group trailing along with us.
SO I decided to create a series of Bad Cosplay BINGO cards.
We're going to play bingo this year at Otakon.
The cards are all specific annoyances that crop up year after year, but do not actively SHAME any one group of people (for example: fat or poc cosplays). All things are just craft-based or decision based annoyances.
The way it's going to go is this: You'll have a card...there are some spaces that might not be on another card ( too keep it interesting) so you're not all trying to find the same thing. They are all randomized through an online bingo card generator. To get credit for "finding" that space, you MUST take a picture. You can do BINGO rules or fill the card rules.
If anyone is interested in turning those little peeves that creep up at a con into something that maybe won't send you into a spiraling hate-rage, then I would be happy to post the link to the list and card gen...

I am so fucking tired of seeing half-assed Luffy cosplays. It's a simple cosplay, and I've rarely seen someone do it right. The ones that mostly try hard are girls with shitty bandage binding, and then the rest are crappy closet cosplay female luffy with short shorts. Then every dude that attempts it either refuses to shave their beards or wear a wig, or even flip flops for christ's sake. There's always like twenty of them at every convention.

I found the Samurai Stormtrooper design to be very inventive because it took a lot of modification to change the design from a standard Sci-Fi trooper to a Sci-Fi samurai, and included a great deal of bells and whistles to make it shine out. Seeing people do "Troll-X" cosplays make me want to slug them in the jaw. No, you are not an inventive or unique cosplay just because you picked up a storebought uniform from some other garbage-tier series, threw on grey facepaint, and your character's horns. The only things worse than this are when it's literally just a different wig and contacts on a specific cosplay and people say it's "X from Y series pretending to be A from B series!"
