I think it would be more ruffled not scalloped since all of the scalloping I see looks like ice cream melting... and I really didn't want to do that with my dress. She's...not really lolita, but she is very cutesy-frilly. You can do the scallops without it being all like omg melting icecream, again, interfacing and a good pattern is the key to getting the structure right. Using a petticoat as the bottom layer looks straight out lazy, especially since she is the Grand Couturier. I think having a ruffle or matching lace trim on the scallops would be a nice interpretation rather than the random ?flowers you have on the second layer. To be honest I would be tempted to build it like a corset dress with a panel over the top to hide any lacing/busk because I'm bonkers like that, but I imagine that's probably beyond what you feel like attempting currently. The only thing painted is my face- the arms are green nylons. My face is kyrolan supracolor with ben nye transluscent powder (tons of it) and urban decay setting spray (more tons of it). I was in and out of the sun most of the afternoon and had the paint on for about 8 hours and only needed a bit of touching up on my nose where my plastic glasses would rub it off.

I thought putting the vinyl bones higher would look a little odd translated in real life but I'll experiment with that and see how it goes for the sake of accuracy. As for the body of the skirt, I only have one layer of tulle underneath- aside from the trim- since I was unsure how full I should have gone with it. First cosplay ever, Black Rock Shooter, i already had her hair style (sort of) so i just dyed my hair black (it was dark brown not much of a difference) I thought using my own hair instead of a wig would make my cosplay better, being afraid of first time at a con. I styled my hair to look like the pics I used for reference. Vanellope has long bangs so I went with that. Again the ponytail kind of died multiple times during the day so I had to fix it a lot. A wig would be great admittedly but I cannot afford one nor do I have the skill to make one myself. Yes, it's a simple high ponytail and making sure it was high enough for the twizzler-looking hair tie to be visible like hers is is not as easy as it looks.

Never thought about a petticoat, may look into that since I need one for a different outfit.

I was wearing very simple makeup that day, lip gloss and mascara. Nothing crazy. The shirt was from salvation army and later modified to mimic Vanellope's. It drapes like that again - because of my scoliosis and the fact that I lean like that naturally.

Look, I'm not perfect. Never even said I was. I was trying to provide info and explain why there are some things I can change (petticoat for example) and some I can't (the way the shirt drapes, etc.). Forgive me for wanting to explain myself a bit and better understand the concrit being thrown my way.

I can add more makeup certainly, though I'm worried I'll just look more red than I already do somewhat naturally. I can't fix the shirt because I don't know if there is enough seam allowance to do so. I can add a petticoat under the skirt. And yes I could try a wig but I'm not made of
money here and those wigs under $20 tend to be halloween quality.

I get there is a lot I can do to improve my cosplays and believe me I want to. I really do.

The construction is really good but reiterating what others said about the pleats. Also might want to change up some of the fabric choices to be a little more varied. My initial thoughts for Inumuta was to tailor the entire outfit, maybe use shoulder pads, put concealer on his pink lips, paint the wires blue, and neaten the bags somehow (cardboard structuring inside? fashion tape for the flaps? idk). Something just looks really frumpy overall, but the wig is nice. Your Nonon is cute, and you have clean sewing skills.

Looks great, did you use the SparklePipsi tutorial? It will definitely need to be ironed before your next con, but you already know that. The skirt seems a bit too short in proportion to the leotard, but it does make your legs look awesome. Was that a conscious design choice to make it so short?

Yeah I did, her tutorial was super helpful! I did decide to make the skirt look short because i thought it would make my legs look longer in comparison to how long their legs are in the anime. I had dropped the V about 4 inches from the original pattern to make it sharper which is probably what threw the proportions off, but I'm pretty pleased with it.
