I've been to two (both at SacAnime) and they're a little awkward, but everyone in the room is a fan of Homestuck and is there to enjoy being in the presence of other fans, so the feeling is easy to ignore. The panels usually have one or two really good panellists who can think quickly and come up with in-character responses, so they're worth going to for that.

I like the panels better when the hosts have at least a direction or some scripted elements planned. Unsurprisingly, AMA panels tend to devolve into shipping questions.

What would you guys think of a Galacticbent feferi? I think the design is cute and Homestuck cosplay is on the decline

As it is an AU, looks like it, it'd help if you had at least one other person with you, though not entirely necessary. And like with any AU, I think the consensus is, do it, and just try to do your best. Personally, I'd say go for it. CBC's been doing AUs for a while due to a lack of content.

If the skirt shifts or rides up in places when you're moving or posing, that's cool, but if the petticoat has two full inches of clearance, that's sloppy and lazy.

This is about homestuck not the place it is held, if you have a problem with a convention that is your own problem. Others enjoy their time there i have been a homestuck (keeping it relevant to topic) attendee for 3 years I have never had problems, it has been fun And everyone I met is nice.

OP: I was in the audience to that panel and I believe you was an amazing John. It was nice to see a panel move around and actually interact instead of sit there like idiots. The argument you had with the Jade on the panel was very realistic and believable as if it came right out of the comic itself.

The only thing I would criticise was your Nepeta and the way she answered the shipping questions, it seems as though she had no idea of the character, and most of the quadrants was explained inaccurately.

The main thing people get wrong is that most freckles need only be slightly darker than skin tone, and this person did that correctly, and evened out the tone farther by blushing the surrounding area -- another right step.

What I did was I went through all the names along with a few suggestions to evaluate their position on the list according to the list's guidelines. This lead to the removal/demotion of a few people (Catw1ngs, Saccharinesylph) and the promotion/addition of others (Fromgilbowithawesome, Seclusionsalad) as the guidlines were reviewed. The goal was to make the list clear and relevant. I think we set the minimum on between three and five cosplays over the last year depending on the tier. Some people (Yaexrae) were kept on the list despite low output due to the quality of their cosplay and their already established position on the list. The only people ADDED despite their relatively low output were Dei-sandvich and Kisbe.

A pyramid-style list was also proposed but seeing as it was late in the thread it didn't get discussed a lot.

If anyone could perhaps go back in the archive (this was late february, though I've reviewed other people since) and compilate the posts in a google doc that'd be appreciated.

Looks like literally three different collars on top of each other and then a polo neck underneath.

The only way to do this without looking stupid as fuck/caveman with hideous posture is to literally add more collars onto that red jacket and then sort of re-tailor the shoulder line. If I was you I'd add shoulder pads after all the collar layers are attached to make sure the shoulder line stays straight. This is super important especially if you're crossplaying because sloping shoulderline is going to make you look extremely pear shaped.

Then the upper red collar is just the stylized poking-out collar of what he's wearing underneath but of course you can just make the top part of that and pin it in appropriately.

It's from March somewhere, really. The only updates I have is that SchS did Aradia and then got into drama around here when we chewed her out about it. We all agreed that Hammasratas are under a carefully watching eye seeing as they have good quality but not a lot of actually interesting costumes. Fromgilbowithawesome have a large variety of costumes and frequently put out varied and well done shoots as well as a lot of help on the topics they do know. goggles can squash up your face and make you look ridiculous, they fog up easily (and it's much easier to just slide off glasses than it is to pull off your goggles and then put them back on), the straps can give people bad headaches or snap. good glasses don't usually have those problems.

I like the work that went into it, i'm guessing the hole is a mirror? Though they could've taken the time to edit the tree onto it so it looks better.

Also would've been better if the location if was near the water or something. The exposed ribs are REALLY cool, but i wish the bones weren't the horn colour, but its still cool. I like the horns, the fins look cool for what we can see of them, i don't like freckles but they're done pretty nicely but one thing i don't like is the tiara, it's not good.

Also on goggles, i'm having troubles myself with my meenah i might try and attach the goggle to glasses and remove the rubber suction parts. If that makes sense.

It probably seems like people are leaving since there aren't any OMFG 1500 PEOPLE meetups anymore -- which is for the better, imo, since the fandom is gathering less negative attention. Semi-relevant, I've noticed a lot of people use fairly bright reds for Damara and Aradia's makeup/lashes, but I've always favored a pretty dark color myself. Doesn't that make more sense? And yeh it's obviously harder than gluing them on, but I said it was easier to make that look realistic than making a /wig attachment/ (like, directly to the wig) look realistic. Once the horns are through the hole and you can't see what's underneath there's no need to find some inconspicuous way of holding them on and you're free to secure them however you wish.

I own dark red fakies for Aradia and they actually weren't hard to find, few min of sorting through google results. I guess some younger cosplayers without online purchasing power might be stuck with the bright red.

And yes, something about red pigments being sometimes unsafe to use around eyes, so manufacturers shy away from them. My red eyeshadow is part of a palette that includes a few dozen colors, and there's only one basic red while there are several blues etc

For Aradia's horns I was mostly going off her talksprite, where they make significantly less than a full circle, but it does look like my tips should probably come farther "up" and "in"...
