While I do wish that more was done, I’m honestly just happy that this is pretty much behind me. Man I haven't been to /cgl/ in a long time but I actually came on to see what the buzz was about this. I read the article straight from her tumblr and immediately thought it was bullshit, but this was being posted all over facebook like it was a fucking school shooting or someshit.

The facebook comments were clearly and easily faked. This person sounds like a pathological liar, and I'm only guessing because I've known a couple and the patterns seem to fit.

So, she has a photo of herself in a Grell cosplay at school. Maybe she asked the girl not to pull on her wig and she made fun of her or something. From there she probably made the whole thing up to get attention on tumblr because it's easy to play the victim in a place where everyone is going to scream "POOR YOU!! SO OPPRESSED!! BULLIES ARE AWFUL!!"

The "threw a bag of ice at his testicles" kind of sealed the deal. pathological liars tend to make shit up that's so specific and so crazy that you'd think "why would anyone make that up?"

But yeah, total bullshit. And she's getting away with it. Also she calls herself "erik" she's probably one of those transtrenders who tells everyone online about her MtF struggle and carries on as a girl in real life except in front of her friends.

Before Tumblr and all this crap (I'm a bit older than these kids) I thought I was androgynous or maybe bi or whatever. I kept it to myself mostly but I realized that I did have some dysphoria but it was mostly to do with hormones and depression. As I got older and finally went to therapy it helped. I'm blowing in from /tg/, but my wife used to troll VampireFreaks when she was a teen with a friend. I'm familiar with bad fantasy. The story sounds like a mixture of fantasy and dissembled real life.

They had an elaborate plot line about transgenderism, lesbianism, abusive lovers, and suicide pacts, with multiple accounts both commenting on and becoming involved with the storyline. At one point, both MCs died after a suicide pact, and one was resuscitated in hospital.

Eventually, the story started to unravel, or the messages of support got too real, and they quit. People make shit up all the time, and this seems to fit in that category.

So I don't know if this is a shock or something, but one of the main points of middle/high school is like "training wheels for society" in terms of socialization. I'm not saying that someone who stands out should be punished, or that bullying is excused in any way, but the harder you try to be a speshul snowflake who stands out, the farther you push yourself out of the "society", the more likely you are to get harassed and picked on. Yeah, the fringes of like-minded people can band together and just like everywhere else, find each other's company in outsiderness, but I just don't get why there are people who are such tryhards to go against the grain in terms of behavior, dress, etc ("I will be/do whatever I want") and only want positive attention, or allegedly "no attention" in turn. The herd mentality of people and the rejection of "outsiders" is a well-known sociological construct, it's not going anywhere no matter how much you don't like it or point it out, because it is in essence ingrained into society as a whole.

Bullying has always been an issue, and it's been dealt with poorly or properly, depending on the school, the era, and the circumstances, it's only thanks to the internet that we are more aware of it and the more glaring incidents. But showing up to school in cosplay, even if it's just "casual cosplay with a wig and some accessories", it's the same to non-cosplayers as showing up to school in a banana costume or dressed as a clown. I don't understand why people don't seem to get that, and why it's so ridiculous to do no matter how much you love anime, cons and cosplay, and I really want you to think about that.
