Wigs give you more room for styling and its the fact that its not real hair, so it wont frizz up or come unstyled, you will have a more accurate colour and you don't have to get your hair colured, cut and styled everytime you want to cosplay a character.

Hey so me and my friend are currently both working on Souda cosplays together, and we've hit a bit of a slump. It turns out, that thing Souda wears off his waist is actually apparently a 'mini light' (my friend can read Japanese and that's what it's labeled as both here and in the artbook). Has anyone ever seen a mini light that looks even close to this? Any idea where we could find one, or if not what a good alternative might be? Thanks.

please, it's not an iron clad rule that you must wear a wig. I've seen a ton of good cosplay that uses their own hair. It's all a matter of what's the smartest choice. If I know for sure my hair isn't full enough for something, of course I should use a wig, but there are a lot of times when real hair is a good choice (comfy laid back cosplay, characters you've been styling yourself after, more realistic cosplay like from real life tv shows and movies, cosplay that calls for a pony tail is also a good example)

And sure, her Japanese isn't perfect or anything but she can read a few of the things.

This was all she could do (we were actually translating from the actual artbook itself and matching the translations on this picture, the text here is too small to read), most of it is pretty straight forward although I think it's worth noting that the stitching on Ibuki's leg is apparently only a tattoo. (Although she couldn't make out the first text, she figured out that it said 'tattoo'.) Sorry if this isn't all too helpful, I think most of Ibuki's design is basically how it seems, though.

Can everyone shut up about wigs already? This debate has been driven into the ground thousands of times before. Yes, some cosplays can be done without a wig-- but that doesn't mean all cosplays can. And it definitely doesn't mean all cosplayers can pull it off. It's been said a million times. Let's get back on topic, post more Dangan Ronpa.

Actually, we're both curious about that, too. There's nothing pointing to her bracelet at all, even in the artbook. My friend's best guess that it kind of looks like a rope (think Sasuke from Naruto's purple belt thing...) or a rock bracelet. I think if we were gonna pick one, if we could find one close enough it'd be the rock bracelet. She's in school for cosutme design, so this is the sorta thing she thinks about, too.

Wigs just look better for anime characters since they aren't realistic anyway, because it looks less flat and doesn't have natural oils that can get gross walking around a con all day.

imho even famous cosplayers outfits sometimes look unfinished, it's nice just to go the extra mile if you love the character and want to be accurate.

Even simple cosplays like Chihiro (Spirited Away) look nicer with wigs.

If you want to make a separate thread for discussion that'd be cool. I believe some cosplays could be fine without wigs but only if it's just for fun/not expected to have super nice photos etc. I'd like to see some good wigless cosplays if you have any.

On the subject of Komaeda wigs, anyone with experience have a preference? Obviously the ebay ones are shit, but the usual haunts (Arda, Matchwigs, Epic) and none of them really approach his insane volume. The Five Wits has a wig they made for him that'll be up soon but it doesn't really have the volume either.

Saw her in person and thought she was really good. She also sewed everything herself and the eye make up was nice.

I've been mulling over designs for Monomi for quite a while recently, seeing as I don't want to fall into the mediocre or shit-tier design categories, and tbh I've been thinking of doing a high waisted skirt as well!! It'll probably be pleated with suspenders, and have either a pink or multicoloured little petticoat underneath to make it extra cute.
Theres just something about skirts or shorts that sit low on the waist that just do not work with Monomi at all, and dresses tend to look lazy for her.

For some reason the wig looks kinda too white and the eyerbows are terrible, i'm not too fond of their make-up either, it makes their face look really flat (in colour).

It actually could be the eyebrows that are messing me up, usually you should make your eyebrows a tad darker when you have a really light wig ( and vise versa for really dark wigs).
