Event wise I got asked to be involved with the In-Character cosplay contest so that's gonna be pretty fun once the ball is rolling and I've got a schedule to work around.
No I will not spend the whole weekend in water. I will also play with animals and play vidya games and stop on peoples MVC 2 nads.

I'll be there! I still have so much work to do on costumes though... I'm making Black Cat and a new Takane from iDOLM@STER cosplay for groups, then I also wanted to make Satsuki, swimsuit Takane, and Skyla, but I just don't know how much time I'll have to get everything done. Also it seems like a lot of cosplay for a con I just like to chill with friends with. But we'll see.

Colossal is the only con I really go to anymore because after going to several years, all other cons now feel inferior.

I start working out a lot more this month, and I'll be working on my tan starting at the end of the month. Gotta take those extra preparatory steps for poolpartycon, lol.

Had to put cosplay aside for the third year in a row due to my budget getting altered last minute.

I'll spend a majority of my time at the waterpark or working security, but hopefully I won't miss out on our awesome blacklight room parties this year. A lot of us are staying a couple extra days so we can go to Cedar Point on Monday.

I really, really want to go to the petting zoo this year, as I've been going ever since they've been at the Kalahari and I have yet to see the petting zoo.

One of these years I've gotta make a swimsuit cosplay...

I'm going. I definitely want to spend more time in the waterpark this year. I hope it's warm most of the weekend >_<

You might as well not go to the con lol. I had a lot of fun at the con but the water park was a HUGE draw and hanging out with friends I rarely get to see in a huge indoor water park was one of the best highlights of my summer.

Get the wristband. It's worth it.

Worth it. Totally fucking worth it. Waterpark passes come free with a room, and if anyone isn't filling their room to maximum occupancy, they could have leftover wristbands. If you know anyone staying at the Kalahari who doesn't have a fuckload of people in their room, you might want to ask if they have extras, or it might be worth it to ask on the forums or FB group. They may charge you for it, but it'll probably be cheaper than buying a pass from the front desk and it means the extras don't go to waste.

The main portion of the waterpark has several huge funnel slides. A couple use multi-passenger innertubes, but one doesn't and you just slide down as-is.

There's a waterslide roller coaster, a lazy river, a huge wave pool, and a couple ramps with water jets you can surf or boogieboard on.

There's also a few other things for kids.

There's two bars in the indoor portion. One is above ground and has food and snacks. The other is the famous hot tub bar. The hot tub bar is basically an enclosed bar with a waist level hot tub pool on either side. There's a doorway which leads to the outdoor portion which has mini waterfalls, as well as ledges you can sit on with cylindrical tables to put your drinks. There's also several lounge chairs surrounding the hot tub for sun bathing. There's two separate outdoor tubs linked to each side of the indoor bar.

The outer potion of the water park is primarily just pools, and another kids play area with fountains n' shit. There's another hot tub, sans bar, surrounded by a rope fence where some of the "big kids" go to drink if the hot tub bar is crowded.

There's another above ground food and drink bar out there. There's a volleyball court, and a zipline which goes above the whole outdoor portion.

The indoor waterpark is also linked to a food court and the huuuuge arcade just down the stairs from the lobby.

It does get a bit crowded at certain points, especially in the evenings.

Also Donnell has been saying that they're trying to get the waterpark to be con guests only for a day (it's not definite yet). I'm a little concerned about the badges though. People will have to lock them away or hide them somewhere unless they don't mind the ink getting smeared to hell. Unless they've made them more waterproof.

All the badges thus far have been laminated. The hole at the top for the lanyard allows water to seep in and smear the ink. It's a slow process, but I've seen badges that just look like hippie vomit with a name sharpied on top. The group in charge of Colossal is nonprofit and they tend to have more money than they know what to do with (see: moonbounce with topless women) so I'm sure they could opt for more waterproof badges, or even wristbands which would also solve the later issue of people losing their badges in the waterpark but I personally really prefer badges because I'm a garganutan faglord and keep every Colossal badge on my key clip.

I've gone in with normal clothes when I needed to go retrieve a friend. I'm pretty certain the lifeguards watch out for people in underwear, though. (if I recall part of the waterpark policy requires people to have swimsuits on rides and in the tubs/pools)

Yup. We could likely build a badge fort out of all the collected badges afterwards. Some of the rides, like the coaster, don't allow loose, hanging things like that so people are going to *have* to put them somewhere.

It's complicated, but one way to combat this is to have table tended by con staff where people can drop off their badges and write down their name next to a number on a list, then a numbered tag/sticker would be put on the badge so it could be retrieved afterwards.

Eh, not really. I'm sure anyone who tries to enter with bodypaint will be turned away. As for behaviour in general? Colossal surprisingly hasn't had any issue with Homesucks, only drunk people.

What I mean by plastic badges is something like pic related. Aside from the possibility of the sharpie'd name smearing, it's completely waterproof. Though I highly doubt they'll change to sturdy plastic badges.

As for the bagde table where you can drop off your badge, there's not guarantee someone wouldn't use your name to collect your badge. The simplest solution is just to provide a unique wristband to con attendees that want to use the waterpark. This wristband would be different from the main hotel wristband. Either that or a hand-stamp, but that's definitely going to wash off.

Oh no I know what you meant, I was just pointing out that the previous badges have all been laminated paper, but they do most likely have enough money to change to something else.

I know in past years the waterpark wristbands have changed colours each day, but for the last 2 years they've been 1 colour the whole weekend. The Kalahari could just give Colossal a different colour to hand out with badges, but since you get wristbands when you check into your room, that would mean there'd probably be a whole lot of spare waterpark wristbands floating around.

I don't know, I'm sure Donnell has something figured out anyway.

No. Badges are only for getting into the convention floor.

What we're talking about is if the plan to rent out the waterpark for con attendees for a day goes through, they're going to need a way to tell who is a con attendee, so therefor... badges. But currently it's not a good idea to bring badges into the waterpark because the badges they've had in the past years aren't waterproof and are on a lanyard which might not be allowed on some rides and it's likely people will lose them in the pools.

Anyone who's going absolutely must attend Death Note Mafia. It's the most fun event in my opinion and something about sitting in a hallway at 3:30 am with a cross dressing guy with cotton candy hair, a fat guy in a utilikilt and an inebriated Len kagamine trying to find out who's the murderer always creates amazing stories!

At ColossalCon 2012 this dickbag stole 3 bottles of alcohol from our room. Don't think I forgot your greasy face and your stupid Luchador mask. He and his friend seemed like cool guys at first so we invited them for homemade food and shots, but when our backs were turned, they took the bottles and ran.
