Adult cartoons have a WAY worse case of having the same shit over and over than Adventure Time. It moves slowly, but it's still nothing like Regular Show(kid's cartoon but still), Family Guy, South Park, etc.

Finn and FP didn't even have that many episodes where they were dating. I mean, I'm not gonna bitch at you for disliking something, but come on. That reasoning is bullshit.

Adventure Time used to be about Finn and Jake going on stupid adventures with very little plot or character development. This is when it was at its best.

Then it started to have "arcs". The whole Lich thing, the Marceline/Ice King origin story, the world blowing up or whatever. It got dull, and boring then on top of it they started to make Finn try and date Flame Princess which is exactly what they show did not need.

I guess you kind of start to run out of ideas after so many episodes, but it still got boring.

That's an opinion. I like it the way it is now, where it expands upon the characters and the land.

They make it really obvious who the intended audience is. And even Korra aired on Saturdays, despite that being intended for people who had grown up on ATLA.

I know it's possible to market to multiple demographics, like how much seinen is also for young girls, but still trying to say something like western moe is marketed to older viewers is just not true. Having perverted jokes or adult themes doesn't mean the show is marketed to adults, it's so older children/adults who are forced to watch it will be interested in it and not have it be only brainmelting garbage. Children's movies do this time and time again, but the market is still children, not adults.

By Hasbro standards, the target audience for MLP is still little girls, 3-7 years old. They only market the toyline to that demographic, despite throwing the occasional brony fan fave into the TRU exclusive sets.

The multitude of merch comes from licensees that Hasbro approves to make whatever they're not interested in creating. Hasbro lets WeLoveFine/Funko/Hot Topic/etc. make tons of brony targeted merchandise because they are not and probably will never market products towards that demographic. They understand that the audience exists and they take a hefty slice of the profits from the licensees, but they do not personally market MLP towards any audience other than children.
