SO Enchanted is over, drama pictures and other stuff here. Who is going to apply to become a kawaii ambassador. More drama

Was it just more or had everyone watched that freaking birdcage belt bag tutorial.

>> No.7478410

Bump, because I couldn't go, so I want to live vicariously through other people. Also some questions to get the ball rolling I guess.

Didn't go to Frock On but I went to JetJ. I couldn't really compare the events as they were in a different vein from each other if you understand me? I enjoyed myself more at Enchanted because I have friends now whereas before I hadn't known anyone. I don't think Enchanted would be a good event for lone lolitas as there isn't really an opportunity to make random friends on the day. Location was gorgeous and easy to find, venue staff were lovely, food was free and of good quality, lots of different stalls that catered to varied styles, bring and buy was MENTAL

> did you think the tickets were good value, especially the VIP ones?
I was GA and I wouldn't have paid £40 on the door but in advance it took less of a financial hit. I thought the tickets were quite expensive this time around and would have preferred something in the £30 region but actually having seen the venue and the amount of attendees I understand why there was a need for higher ticket prices

> anything to be improved?
Time keeping? Most things overran but it's not something I was really bothered by but perhaps those with trains to catch may have been affected.

> did you buy anything! and if so, what?
I didn't buy anything but my friends got some good bargains at the bring and buy

> how was the standard of dressing?
High. Everyone brought their A-game to be honest. Main style was OTT Classic non surprisingly and there were few sweet lolitas. There were only a few questionable coordinates that I saw, one girl in neon and one girl in casual clothes.

>>7478420
I didn't see any drama personally and all the main organisers were really friendly
The event tag was #enchantedevent so you should be able to find photos on social media using that

>> No.7479389

It was a great event imo. The one thing I think could've been better is I wish they'd let guests speak into microphones then translated, instead of having minutes of silence (for the audience) whilst they told the translator what they wanted to say

>> No.7479425

There was no drama and it was a nice day. I personally didn't enjoy it as much as frock on but that's because I want so bothered about any of the stage events and that was pretty much all that happened. Minimal stalls Meant that other than taking photos with friends there wasn't much else to do.
But if Q&As and tutorials are your thing then it was probably a really good day!

Being a fairly newbie Lolita, I didn't enjoy Enchanted as much as Frock On.

> did you think the tickets were good value, especially the VIP ones?
Ticket price was fair, the venue was nice and the cake buffet was great.

> anything to be improved?
I'd have liked there to be an organised photo booth/area like Frock On. I think it would have been nice for the more efforted outfits to have one definite nice photo of their coord?
Also, the bring a buy was chaos. It needed much more space to be able to properly look at things without bumping into people next to you.

> did you by anything! and if so, what?
Sadly I didn't but a few of my friends got some nice bargains in the bring and buy.

> how was the standard of dressing?
Everyone but the exception of me and a handful of people looked amazing, I was really wowed by how lovely everyone looked.

Overall Enchanted was a fun event to attend but I felt like I only got my money worth with the amount of cake I ate and I much preferred the Frock On Venue.
I didn't come in lolita (my only complete coord is a replica), just an outfit that is too dressed up to be casual. I didn't think I would be too out of place but after arriving I felt really under dressed and got the impression some people looked down on me for it. I wish I'd had time to organise another coord so I didn't feel so ostrasised but that's no one's fault but my own.
It was fairly well organised and well done to everyone that helped to make it a success.

Looking at the pictures it seems like normal OTT to me, lots of hair accessories, jewelry, and hats. Whether you like Madonna crowns and sashes is a matter of personal preference but in no way equates to girls wearing half their closets or being outrageous.

Honestly, when I hear comments like this I can't help but wonder what your own coords look like. Maybe you look great in toned down everyday coords. But the "OTT is too outrageous" is also the refrain of itas with poor coording skills who shun wigs, makeup, or accessories in the name of keeping it real/simple/natural.

Too late, madonna crowns are definitely the new sash. I think they can look interesting paired with a religious or historical-themed coord, since they mimic the halos painted on medieval icons, but they don't work with everything. Broken foot anon here. I actually really like the OTT classic stuff that people turn up to big London events in. I definitely went all-out at Frock On in terms of being part of the "wtf have you got on your head" crew.

My issue isn't the OTT-ness itself, it's that it feels like its a contest rather than a fun fashion event that I'd enjoy. I imagine this is as much a problem in my own head as a problem within the community. As it's a special occasion, of course people are going to want to use the opportunity to showcase their more unusual coords that perhaps wouldn't work every day or for a normal meet. I was just saying that that atmosphere wasn't for me personally, no hate towards any of the many well dressed OTT girls on the day.

In this incarnation, I think the Madonna crowns trace back to Gaultier's Spring Summer 2007 couture collection - although the crowns shown there were much more interesting and intricate than what's been popping up in lolita the past month or so. Religious motifs have also been re-emerging over the last two years, especially in classic with the JetJ religious dresses and the popularity of stained glass prints, which have been calling back to medieval religious imagery (rather than the broader "cross / nun" elements from early Moitie, etc).

E-famous lolitas and images on tumblr both seem to help a trend snowball; in this case, I really can't think of a lolita brand who've shown the Madonna crowns in ads, etc, so I'm assuming it's strictly a Western thing (for the moment).

Even though Puppet Circus is (obviously) circus themed, you don't see it unless you put your face up near the design. I don't care about circuses or clowns at all, but I think it's a beautiful dress because of the gold printing on a simple, one-color design, very refined and elegant. If I get it, I wouldn't coord it to be "circus themed" or whatever -- for something so elegant and refined in appearance, a halo crown like that would be more to my tastes. Themed accessories seem really arbitrary sometimes in what is an entirely visual medium, where the most important aspect is that all the pieces look good together. (I realize this is probably an unpopular opinion, but I care about looking nice as a whole more than matching "theme"...)

I'm actually pretty sure these Madonna headbands grew out of the spiked/studded headbands that are so popular in pastel goth, since they're just those but with longer spikes, and are much more similar than the crown in the image you posted. I hadn't thought of that, but there's definitely a connection there as well. I feel like the aesthetics of the Madonna crown (elegant) are pretty different from the spike crown, which is why I feel like there's something more than just "bigger spikes" at play. Not at all anon. I actually agree with you, if I had PC I would probably be coording more along the elegant route, maybe even the madonna crowns like the girls shown (I really liked the way they reiterated the intricate gold in the print).

Truth be told I was gobsmacked when anons were saying earlier the girl in the middle of the PC picture with the pom pom hair captured the essence of PC best. It may have captured the circus essence, but the IMO the execution was cartoonish and clashed with the elegant feel of the dress. But then again I am not a fan of afro wigs, mana make up, and chunky punk boots in lolita so I was biased from the offset.

PC coords will probably be divisive no matter what. The subject matter is so different from the over all aesthetic of the dress everyone probably envisions the "true coord" of it matching a different aspect of the dress.

Aspects of the coords may not be your personal taste (sashes, madonna crowns) but no one looks like shit or is a straight up eyesore.

Everyone matches their dresses, has well styled hair, good makeup, good silhouettes, and has a cohesive coord for whatever theme they were going for.

I feel like you haven't seen a lot of 'looking bad in brand threads' or itas if you think these girls look like shit.

is this really stressing and worrying some of you out?

there will be people who will think it's a costume no matter how you tell them and remain ignorant.
there are ALSO people who genuinely like to learn and know more about why you dress that way and will nod to your explanation and hey, they might believe you.

This is basically what to -expect- when you wear lolita no matter the style it is. Hell, ANY extreme fashion out in public. Goths (or whatever equivalent is these days) still get told "it's not Halloween" by people who want to remain ignorant and think it's funny.

This. Let's be honest, lolita fashion already includes bonnets, petticoats, bloomers, mini-hats, floral crowns, harlequin socks, dresses with "Elegant Gothic Vampire Romance" written on them and other dresses covered in children's toys. That is merely my own opinion, speculation and personal plans based on past events and the information revealed already. That's not 'shitting on their event'. Their kickstarter was successful (and I was among the first to take a look at it when announced) but the basis of the event is not one that interests me at all. Lolita is my everyday fashion for the most part and I don't feel like a freak or need to go be among others to feel it's ok to dress as I choose, nor am I on a crusade to bond with others who wear alternative. I'm more into elegant parties. Plus it really does read like more of a personal marketing strategy than fun Lolita event.
The event will NOT be as elegant but that doesn't mean it will be a bad event. I don't think it's intended to be as elegant or posh based on the information revealed so far. And yep, I'm one who has the time and means to go to these pretty much as I choose, if they are interesting.

And lastly no, sorry...stating my opinion isn't 'abuse'.

Nice back-pedal. The point still stands: if you want cool events, you need to support them and help make them what you want them to be, not gripe about what is available because it's not presented in a way that's tailor-made for you already. Rufflecon is still in the development phase; if enough people expressed an interest in a more "elegant party" aspect (and the willingness to pony up the cash required for a posh venue, etc) I suspect the organizers would be willing to accommodate that interest.

I liked it for the most part and will have photos and a video of the fashion show to post/upload later. I felt like they should've given people more time to get their cake and do bring and buy stuff before doing Q&A with the designers, most people weren't paying attention and I felt a little bad for them but on the other hand, there was stuff to buy and eat. When taking a video of the runway I tried taking pictures but this girl in front of me had a xbox huge hat that also kept on working as a weird deflector for my flash. I'm glad people wore lots of interesting outfits but I already predicted most people were going to wear a bunch of weird shit on their heads like the last event. Oh and sashes, sashes fucking everywhere.

I just got a little annoyed that for the group photo, the organizer girls told me and the people I was with sitting on the floor that we had to move from where we were near the front and to get out of the way quickly. I thought it was going to be for a good reason for safety or something but no, they just wanted us to move so they could sit there instead. Like, just say that you want to sit in the front, don't be so rude about it.

Overall though it was alright, the hall was good but I still preferred the place for the first Juliette et Justine event. The open bar was terrible in it's selection and prices. The bring and buy was pretty good and had lots of good stuff, I got a great Meta coat for £45 so I was happy with that. For the ticket price, for GA at least, £40 was a bit steep for what I actually got out of the event.

I don't wish them ill and the VIP has already sold out. I'm not going to support someone's 'cool event' that doesn't fit my interests and saying Rufflecon so far does not so far isn't some kind of huge insult. What they had posted so far was not enough to interest me in VIP, travel and time off. Since VIP is sold out before other more possibly interesting guests and activities were announced then no, it's not compelling enough to hold my (and from what I hear, others') interest.

I'm sure those who are interested will have a very nice time but that event's focus is definitely not going to suit many of us. I'm not entirely sure who the target audience that isn't local would be but it certainly isn't me.

No, but shitting on an event before it even happens isn't exactly *helping* either. These kinds of events need effort put in by both organizers and attendees. If everyone had shown up in ita-wear, Enchanted wouldn't have been a waste of a brilliant venue instead of an awesome event. And if everyone had shown up wearing their A-game only to find themselves in a room full of folding chairs and paper cups, that would also suck.

And nope, I'm not involved in Rufflecon, aside from planning to attend. I have done a bunch of event planning in the past, including a couple of large-scale LARP weekends, which means I now know better than to go anywhere near organizing lolita events.

Saying that you don't find the offetings do far very interesting is still not *shitting* on an event. I was also a bit skeptical that despite early sales, not inexpensive ticket prices and supposedly experienced event planners that crowd funding was needed to bankroll the preliminaries. Good luck to them though, if the first year is a success, maybe they can continue and do well for their niche interests within the fashion as a whole. I don't think it's meant to appeal to everyone who has Lolita interests and it really doesn't.
Some comparisons are bound to be made between something like this event in the topic and events like Frill and Rufflecon though. The differences seem pretty evident.

Personally I think it's a great idea because it's fairly cheap to travel around Europe and it makes for a nice city break with friends too!

Anyone got more Pictures? Was there anyone looking bad/ita at the event at all. Everyone looks good, even in the group picture.

I really like tea-head. It's the blue in the headpiece that makes everything com eotgether.
Would it have looked more elegant with smaller or fewer pieces? Probably. But I like it as is, so cute.

I'm enchanted just looking at all the photos and I'm taking inspiration from several. It doesn't make me feel jelly and want to pick at everyone, it makes me happy to see a big group looking so good!
Who has afterwards write-ups from blogs, are there any yet? links please!

These pictures are really good.
But pic related is such a odd pair. The brown haired gir, looks giant compared to the silver haired one. Looks almost funny.

I think its funny people are criticising the ott outfits. Lolitas overdress to the supermarket, for an extra fancy event we need to wear something more than normal

You can barely see the clear frames of the glasses ( I didn't even know she was wearing any when I looked at it the first time), and girl on the right is pairing black shoes and white/black tights with the pink/gold dress.

That's what I was thinking! I sort of liked there was an event that encouraged super OTT. It's an aspect we don't get to see quite as often. Especially a whole event like that, and not just a couple of people OTT at a con or something.

GURL you were perf. I saw you irl and I loved your outfit. Don't let these nitpicky girls get to you and I don't let them make you respond to their criticism or have you justify your outfit. I feel like as long as you had fun with your friends, that is all that mattered.

I wonder is this the biggest lolita event ever?

>> No.7487924

it was the biggest lolita event worldwide.

except that it wasn't a Lolita event? Enchanted was a jfashion event, even if Lolita made up a big part of it.

I was wondering by this. I was under the impression it was a jfashion event until I checked the facebook page the week to sell my ticket and it seemed to be all lolita? I knew a few people who were planning to come in fairykei and gyaru in the early stages but judging by photos I guess none did.

Was this always a lolita event or did it change along the way?

>> No.7488037

Exactly! People need not worry or care about some random person's ignorant view of your outfit if they think it's a costume. they're not your friend and you probably won't see them again anytime soon.

As someone who attended, I can tell you that it was entirely lolita. There were 2-3 girls in shironuri, but everyone else was lolita.

I saw a few in fairy-kei and some sort of generic goth stuff?
Also saw a cute guy in jeans and baggy black hoodie lurking at the back by himself. Was gonna talk to him but figured only reason he'd be there was he was a boyfriend.
