Anyone have opinions on lenses for Nonon's eyes? It looks like her eyes match her hair or are slightly darker, so I'm tossing up between matching that (possibly EOS dolly eye pink) or going for a darker, redder pink (so probably one of the options from Vassen).

How vibrant are your eyes? Are they quite a light green, or do they tend towards the blue end or hazel end? One of my friends has light blue eyes, and looks okay with the Geo Super Nudy Pink but the colour isn't fantastic in the "you have pink eyes" way. I do not recommend wood at all, it will be incredibly brittle and not well supported unless you make the sword smaller than it should be. Which never looks good.

What seems to work the best is insulation foam with an epoxy resin coating.

I think that's my biggest issue with her cosplay. Like yeah, it is cheaper to buy a sax colored seifuku off bodyline/cosmates/wherever, but she could have at least TRIED to get a navy colored necktie. I've seen other Mako cosplayers wearing the same costume, but they actually put in the effort to make a proper necktie.

Plus the damn thing is way too tight on her.

And yeah the eyeliner bothers me as well. Waaayy too heavy for Mako.

They're cut out from a white vinyl that I ended up painting whiter so it'd match up with the rest of my fabric. I'll have to do another set but it's honestly simple. the only annoying part is that I'll have to open the dress up again for more ease in sewing the new bones on.

I think that can work, though you may possibly need to modify some elements to it. Still, I recommend looking at others' wip- Sushi Monster's, for instance- just for an idea of how you should go along with your own. Box pleats really aren't as difficult as they seem.

I'm guessing you did it like an A line dress with inserts as opposed to a separate pleated skirt? First and most obvious is that you don't have enough pleats/panels, there are at least 8-12 total in the show. You can either insert more (which will probably require you to bind the seams, look up Sidney Eileen's tutorial on inserting corset gores for what I mean), or do the skirt as a separate piece.

Different anon here: Yes but I think you'll want a petti under it to fluff it out. You'll need something to hold it up.
Also anon the rest looks nice, I honestly confused as to how you didn't count the panels? Next time count, do a bit of math to figure out how to get it proportional too, since hers has a ballpark number of pleats it needs to look right. It isn't easy but with a bit of practice you'll get the hang of it. Good luck!

My main problem was I made the individual panels so wide that I had a lot of pleats left over when I tried the skirt on, so I just removed the extra pleats instead of making everything narrower. Sorry I can't refer you to anything since I worked on my own patterns, I didn't use a pre-made or bought one. Sushi Monster's own progress served as a good guideline though, so I recommend going through her album on FB.
The front white part actually gave me some trouble. The two trials before this one ended up much shorter than I'd have liked so obviously enough, you should keep your seam allowance in mind before cutting the fabrics. Ah I see. The rest looks really good honestly. Once you narrow the width of your pleats more will fit in and this you'll have the right number. I would invest in a cheap petti or even make one with tulle if you can't order one. Also, I forget how fluffy her dresses are, if they are really poofy your panels for the pleats will need to be ever so slightly trapezoidal (wider base at bottom). But it would be very slight, that would only be necessary if hers flares out a lot; the circumference of the bottom of the dress would be slightly larger than were it is at your waist. Hopefully that makes sense! You're very cute by the looks of the pic, I have faith you'll be good once you get the skirt in order.

Most suit and "forma wear" cosplays endout looking like absolute tripe. This group is an awful idea. The only positive I can see coming from this is I'll have something to chuckle about, since we all know the only people who would participate are girls in suits much too big for them and people too lazy to do an actual cosplay.

I'd like some help since I'm still stuck on pattern choice for Nonon's Goku uniform. It seems like the most popular choice is separate bodice + regular box pleated skirt/flared box pleated skirt that ends up being a part-circle skirt.

However, I was wondering about doing it as an 8-panel princess line dress with flared box pleat inserts, which would mean having a centre front seam to avoid having too few pleats. My main worry is the centre front seam looking weird, to be honest, since inserting pleats is just fancy math and the bodice will be princess line anyway since I'm terrible with doing bust shaping with darts unless I'm using a pre made pattern.
