Some more Brienne progress. Still need to cut the front for the lacing, clean up the edges, hem, iron, and rip up the arm and dirty the entire thing. Any tips on good weathering techniques?

Also will post a reference picture next, I saw that someone wanted one in the last thread.

that last reply was not me, but you need to coat it with layers of sanded gesso before painting to get rid of that pebbly texture. Stop cutting horizontally! You're going to ruin that wig. Cut vertically into it.
Also keep in mind that the eyeline of foam heads is not the same as yours. Generally, it is much higher up, so if you make your bangs fit that eyeline, it will be much higher up on your forehead than you'd want.

Unfortunately I'm not really great with prop construction, my specialty is painting, so I'm like, if I do anything to it i could mess it up more but also it could be a learning experience? I'm torn because I also want to set up LEDs in the pink spots on the cylinder but that'd mean I'd need to cut it somewhere to put in the battery and then hide the wires and I'm a lazy crap who just wants to start on her Takarada and Chandelure cosplays already.

Actually, you can use wood-glue to get rid of that grainy look, sanding it does not work out too well. Pic related, I made this from worbla, put on woodglue and it turned out kinda smooth I think? It doesn't look like she sewed it on, but it could just be my bad eyes. There's an interfacing type of material that actually wrinkles your fabric like that on purpose. I think it's mostly used on quilts and crafty kinds of projects, but it should be available in your interfacing section. That's what I would do at least. Give it a try on some test fabric though, I've only seen it done with silks and cottons. Then I would just fuse it down with double sided interfacing, but pin it on (or mark where you want it) with the suit over your body so you don't screw yourself over. Or you could you try to spray adhesive with it on, but that is harder than it sounds.

Just my thoughts, sorry if it doesn't help. Good luck!

You're going to be sanding most of the layers away but I don't really know. Kamui does that method for her stuff so I don't think it's too heavy. It's about as think if not a bit thicker than acrylic paint, since it's used as a texture medium

I have tried sock dreams, they have some really cool long thigh highs but the price range is usually more than I want to spend. Im just gonna post it here just incase it helps anyone else (also its technically cosplay progress related because I am lifting to be able to cosplay portgas d. ace) and also people can call me out if they think i am spouting wrong information

Firstly pic related is me Main reason Im showing it is so you can form a better opinion on what I say

Stats (just in case anyone cares) Weight: 82kg Height ~5'10 (or 5'9 / 177cm) The flexed bicep is 14.5inches for a rudimentary scale.

My routine is a push pull split where I go to the gym 4 times a week on a ABXABXX routine (MTWTFSS)

Workout A: Workout B:
Deadlift Squats
Bent Over Row Bench Press
Lat Pull Down Over Head Press
Shrugs Stiffed Legged Deadlifts
Chin Ups Pull Ups

Knee Raises Dumbbell Press
EZ Bar Curls Dragonflags
Arnold Presses Tricep Pulldown
Sit Ups Lateral Raises
(Leg press*)

The top set are the main exercises the bottom are the accessories. I do these all 3x8 (3 sets of 8 reps each) at moderate weight ~70% my max. I usually do a main lift then an accessory when lifting as it allows for a greater rest period. (I have posted this routine on /fit/ and I got two comments about it being high volume; it is but I personally have been able to successfully use the program over the last 4 months and I have made some gains.)

(Part 1 / 2)

>> No.7484024

>>7484022

2/2

This routine is good imo because you have all your main compound lifts which will make you strong, and then all you have to do to control your size is to monitor the weights and keep it at a consistent level (As the main thing that will make your muscles grow is progressive overload so if you never add weight your body has no reason to adapt and thus create more muscle.

Also if you are in a rush you can just do the main lifts and youll be fine so it can be a quick workout

Complaints with your 5 day split are going to be very brief:

- Splits are for advanced lifters and also mainly for roiders
- You dont hit your muscle groups as much as the push pull split so they wont grow because if you only do biceps on Fridays they literally have a week until they are used again so according to your body there is no reason to build muscle because its rarely getting used

There are more reasons but the gist is based of what you look like you need a beginner / intermediate routine and youve chosen an advanced one so thats why I said something

Also just remember that fitness is 80% diet if you dont eat you wont grow hope this helps and sorry for long posts.

Also the routine thing fucked up in the formatting so its basically first exercise is workout a the next is for b and the * means you can do it if you choose too

Hey! Making a 3DMG was the thing that got me into Cosplay, I know all about this.

Sew big patches of velcro onto your white pants, hot glue them even if you have to. Attach the reverse side of the velcro to the sheathes where you want the front end of the sheathes to rest.

Then run rope or cords through the bottom end of your sheathes so they loop around the maneuver gear you are wearing on your waist.

The velcro on the jeans/pants/whatever keeps the front end of the sheathes rigged to your body and the rope keeps the bottom end from turning sideways on you.

I'd make the pieces more clean cut, That's the biggest downfall I think. Now, I do more leatherworking myself, but The pieces are very sloppy. Perhaps work with a different medium next time? Or get familar with it more? It takes practice man. Especially if you're just starting out. You need a group of different materials to work with in your arsenal, so that when you get to complex suits, you can choose what'll work best for the design. As of now, the pieces look very sloppily cut out, and uneven. take some time to try to be completely symmetrical, and even. It's a bitch, but it'll look so much better in the long run.

As for the stitching, I'm not really a sewfag myself, but some of the side pieces look really messy as well.

Next time, I'd start with something simpler. I feel for you though. I had that tendency when I first started; to go for something super complex, and not be able to really do the best job, because of the difficulty.

I'd say next time, try smaller pieces, less involved costumes, and work your way up.

I forgot the boot covers were in that pictures -_-" They are... embarrasing, but mostly covered up by the rest of the costume.

The costume sitll looks decent on and gets a good general reaction so I'll still wear it, I don't have to feel bad that my work is all for nothing. I like it, but I know it's not the best and I'm not going to go around competing in it by any means haha.

Jesus fuck guys, Kill me.

This has been a bitch and a half. First, the leather side pieces were wrinking when I put it on, then I tightened them, and had string on the back piece to cover leather wrinkling ln the back. Of course that wouldn't work for norse armor, because that's unrealistic, so I had to cover it in chain. I failed at making chain, so I put fur on it, and around the edges.

A lot of getting zippers right is sewing in a straight line with the right seam allowance. I believe most are supposed to be sewn 3/8" from the edge of the zipper tape.
And interface the seam that the zipper goes into. You're putting additional stress on the fabric at that point so it's worth reinforcing, and it makes it a ton easier to sew
