Replica bags and shoes are things that are generally more accepted than say, print dress replicas because the brand ones are fairly shitty quality for the price.
They're sort of wardrobe-padding. You get your cheap replica bags for everyday use and abuse and save the burando for when it matters.

>> No.7469987

There's nothing wrong with buying a replica brand bag imo. The original bags are just as shitty anyway.

>> No.7469999

I started loli by getting ebay and then taobao replicas, including bags and shoes. After I got brand bags, I stopped buying replicas, because the quality difference is really obvious. Next to brand, my replicas have problems like the leather peeling, glue marks, and kind of have a hot glued-ed home crafts look to them. The brand stuff always looks more polished and lasts longer.

I guess if you just want to use it once then throw it out/sell it off then it's okay, or if you're just starting out, you wouldn't notice the difference yet. But if you already own brand, going backwards to replica is not a good move.

I no longer have time to wear my wardrobe or just don't think about wearing it at all anymore. When I look at pictures of coords or my dresses I don't feel any excitement, longing, or happiness. >> No.7474770

Newbie here, I posted something similar in another general thread.
Would it be alright if someone took a lolita coord, but made it slightly more costumy? Like, I want to do a white rabbit based coord, not to look like the rabbit itself but to give it a less blunt gijinka kind of twist? The outfit would be almost entirely aiw inspired (prints + acc.) with maybe some kind of rabbit ear headband that doesn't look obnoxious.
I'd be doing it with my so, who would be the Cheshire cat, again in more formal wear.
I'm a cosplayer before a lolita, but i enjoy the fashion and wouldn't want to give it a bad name.

If you're in the US, you can try inquiring at the SF store to see if they have it/they can order it in for you.

Everywhere else: http://www.babyssb.co.jp/overseas/

Read to the bottom, then check out the links as well. I think the first one gives you the format your email needs to be in.

With mail order, the response is much slower, but the person answering the emails is able to check if there is stock in another physical store and let you buy it if there is. I was able to buy a couple of items that were sold out online this way in the past, but be warned that I only managed to get half of what I tried to order and they didn't let me cancel or combine orders, so I ended up paying EMS for something like a pair of socks, a blouse and an accessory. And honestly I'd love to see more because you guys keep telling new people "just buy a wig" then complain when you see tons of people wearing wigs with no care, styling, or cut bangs. A wig is not a fix-all. If you can't style your hair, you probably can't style your wig. One step at a time. Not to mention the fact that everyone buys the same fucking wigs they see everyone else wearing, because they know it'll look "good" with lolita. You sure are doing a lot of projecting, anon. Your entire argument seems to be based on the " tons of amazing coords" you've seen with short hair, but where are these coords anon? Please, if you have some super secret treasure trove with "tons" of photos of lolitas successfully pulling off a pixie cut, do share it! Because the only times I've ever seen girls attempt to combine lolita with a pixie cut she gets her asshole shredded open. I'm not talking about girls with chin-length bobs, I'm talking the 2cm hair length >>7475256 is talking about.
Also,
>If you can't style your hair, you probably can't style your wig.
It seems like this comment is made with the assumption that people with short hair only have short hair because they're inept at styling? Even if it's not, regardless of their ability to style hair some people just don't have hair suited for styling. Mine, for example, was very damaged and unmanageable when it was long because of almost 10 years worth of heat styling and dye. >>7475256 was also in that boat with me and made the same choice.
>everyone buys the same fucking wigs they see everyone else wearing
Except for the fact that they don't? Have you taken a look at the Taobao spreadsheet lately and seen all of the recommended wig suppliers? In case you haven't, there are an actual ton of them and the styles are extremely varied (from natural-colored lacefronts to pastel-vomit twintails), and that's just on Taobao alone. And all of those suppliers are being recommended because people are buying from them and they're having good results. It sounds like you've built your lolita visual library almost entirely on tumblr and you think the things that are popular there are good examples of lolita fashion. I hate to break it to you, but that's really not the case.

(continued, because tl;dr)
>I mean, would you honestly prefer someone walking around wearing a wig and being clueless about it, or someone with short hair who styled it super cute and well?
In lolita? The wig, every time. I'd rather see a ratty, tangled Miku wig than a well-maintained pixie cut -in lolita- because it's a bigger step in the right direction. In case you haven't noticed, the point of lolita is to look as feminine as possible, and you should probably also do some reading on the meaning behind women having short haircuts in Japanese/Asian cultures (don't forget that this is a Japanese fashion, not a tumblr fashion).

>Just because you're self conscious about your short hair in lolita doesn't mean everyone should be.

i was thinking about digging them up, but i haven't been following any daily coords for years and it would take forever. i can't remember any names off the top of my head either. but i will be keeping any eye for them and posting any i see, now. i actually think that if less people recommended just wearing a wig, maybe more people with short hair would give it a go (or other hair styles in general. i guess i get bored by stagnation, and the wigs i'm seeing now look exactly like wigs everyone was wearing 3-4 years ago, except they're even more prevalent).

also, i wasn't implying people with short hair can't style their hair - i just meant that, around here, i also see people recommending that girls with hair that is unkempt or not super clean just pop on a wig instead. and i just feel like if someone hasn't achieved a decent amount of personal hygiene, they probably won't put a lot of dedication into styling their wig, either. i wasn't very clear about that, my apologies.

I just went through my lolita wardrobe and found a few white marks on my Cathedral Print JSK. My heart did a double-take as I haven't worn it in almost 2 years so they must have been there for awhile. They came right off with a quick wipe, thank god.

I also have a Moitie OP at the dry cleaners that I'm worried about. It came to me with lots of white marks on it, not unlike the ones on the other dress only they wouldn't come off. When I took it to the dry cleaners the guy just threw it under the bench all nonchalant. If that dress gets damaged even further I will be so upset. Gah. This is (partly) why I rarely wear my clothes.

I have nothing to worry about, right? Has anyone ever had a dry cleaner butcher their dress? What did you do about it?

I've thought this more than once recently when people defend obvious 'just no' elements in lolita lately...I hope it isn't so but I'm afraid it is a growing thing. Tumblr is one of the worst places for uncurated style inspiration unless you have a rock solid sense of style already.

I propose that Haenuli just stick to her usual clip art design prints, or better yet, create more prints that are to the tune of Stained Glass of St Giles which is still the dream dress for many people who missed out. Pixie cut anon here. Niche fashions are not all-inclusive and I'm sorry that lolita can't accommodate all of the style features you like, but that's not the point of the fashion at all. Thinking about lolita at it's roots, how many women in the Victorian era do you think cut their hair this short? None of them. It just wasn't a thing, and it wasn't until well into the 1900's with the flapper girls doing it as a big fat "fuck you" to the "long hair = more feminine" aesthetic.
I'm not saying that to say lolita fashion won't evolve and some day develop a place for super short hair but as it stands now that place just doesn't exist. At least in the beginning, it's gonna take a lot of really popular, well-coordinated people pulling it before it's going to become more widely accepted. It just hasn't been done well consistently enough yet.
Not to mention the fact that cutting your hair this short is a big commitment that a lot of girls simply don't want to make...it's much easier to throw on a long wig over short hair than to cram a bunch of long hair under a short wig. That's the other reason why I was okay with doing it myself...besides removing all of the damage I had, it makes wearing wigs a lot more comfortable.
If you're going to sit around and bitch about how much you hate the way short hair is received in lolita, the least you could do is try it yourself and post some coords online. Give it more exposure, as opposed to just passively griping about it.

What is /cgl/ lolita's thoughts on handcrafted accessories made out of dry flowers? I was considering making small wreath and star pendants, corsages, clips for hats/bonnets, hair combs, and hairpieces styled to match classic lolita and old school sweet styles. When I was talking with my friend, we were talking about the possibility of it being a replica. I'd have to compare the tag on the bolero to pictures of legit tags since I don't own any AP. Worse case, it's a replica, and I ended up with a cheap and cute bolero. At best, I ended up with a legit piece missing it's front detachable bow. Either way, I think I did okay regardless.

lol if you're going to go the historical route you shouldn't forget to mention coiffure a la Titus, or coiffure a la victime (pic related). during the reign of terror from the french revolution, some women cut their hair very short and wore it curly in front to honor the deceased. and it's not like fashion from that period hasn't inspired lolita in some way--Btssb (or Aatp, I forget) released a wedding gown fairly recently that resembles the simpler, white dresses of the era following the french revolution (the directory era), with dresses having looser silhouettes than their previous rococo counterparts. it's not like short hairstyles have been absent from history or the time periods that lolita fashion draw inspirations from, it just needs to match the right coordinate and be styled correctly.

>> No.7476983

>>7476973
The history of this particular style is a little more grim than simply honoring the dead. It was more meant to mimic the quick and dirty haircuts received by women destined for the guillotine. Women's hair got in the way of the blade, so it was cropped short before execution. It was also common to wear a thin red ribbon as a choker to mimic where your head would have been chopped off, and aristocrats famously threw parties where you couldn't get an invite unless you could prove that a relative had been executed during the reign of terror. Morbid, ritzy fun times.

I've aired it out for about 8 hours and it seems a little bit better (or maybe I've just gotten used to the smell). Would it be okay to put it back in my closet or will it make the other stuff smell? We've had tons of threads where girls with super short hair post and most of the posts are about how the haircut/style looks really awkward with the rest of the outfit/is more suited for shit like rockabilly.

Now, obviously all short hair doesn't look bad, but pixiecuts and other boystyle/tomboy cuts don't look good with lolita proper because there's an intrinsic anti-feminine aspect of those kinds of cuts because they're designed to look more on the boyish/androgynous side of things. It's really just a fact that cuts designed to look more boyish/androgynous are going to look off with a fashion that revolves around looking classically feminine/girly. It's nothing about the haircut, and it would certainly look better with ouji but it just doesn't match the overall aesthetic lolita has.

I'm not expecting this thread to give me a full lowdown, since I'm doing my own research too, but I'd like to hear input from people who know their stuff in addition to skimming wiki pages.

Yes, I posted most on Tumblr, and they are ass-patty on there. However, I have posted some on here, and people liked them despite my haircut. On top of that, I had a Hitler Youth haircut up until just recently, and all of the pictures I have taken of coords were with that haircut. So I definitely think people can work them in! Not everyone can, of course, just like not everyone can have the haircut in the first place and make it work.

Here, this is a casual coord that I still love. Hitler Youth haircut. I absolutely agree that hats look best with the short hair, but there are some bows that I have that are the perfect in between. I don't have a straight up pixie haircut though, so mine is much easier to work with.

The short hair is cute. The suspenders are not.

When I do group orders, I make a seperate spread sheet for each person and send the SS one order but split into different spreadsheets (this obviously only works with email SS, not shopping cart ones) and then I ask them to keep each order seperate to weigh them, then to give me a Total weight and shipping price. Then it's just % based. Find the % of the weight that equals each person's order, and then you'll get their shipping prices easily that way. Which means each person pays for their specific weight order and pays for it out of the total shipping price, which includes discounts for the total weight... if that makes sense.

tbh its not that bad as long as the brand design isnt too specific. A shooting star bag or lyrical bunny replica bag (AP) or biscuit bag (SWIMMER) would be a no-no (to me at least) while more generic designs like 3 ways bags or boston bags where only the shape is copied are more acceptable.

>>7471627 I dont find this, for example, to be acceptable, because it says INNOCENT WORLD right smack in the middle. If the name was removed it would have been fine.

tl;dr bland design ok specific design/logo fuck no

I thought they would be cuter than the regular Lady Sloth skirt, so I got the ones she sold with suspenders. They are big and goofy. I like them, but I also do not like them at al, y'know? They're so... Dumb. I wish they weren't so cartoonishly big, but I don't have the heart to not use them, heh.

But thank you for saying I'm cute! I was expecting general cgl anger and bitterness, so you both surprised me with that.

I've never seen any of buychina's warning on here. I looked up reviews and they seemed alright. Now I'm getting a 502 error on their page.

there used to be more vocal warnings in the taobao threads anytime someone would bring them up, but one whiny anon (who was probably buychina on anon being that they've spammed 4chan before) kept pissing and moaning about how mean we were and they used buychina just fine weh weh and somehow convinced the SS spreadsheet anon/other tb thread anons to lay off them

and this is what happens when you listen to a known shady businesses' crocodile tears...
