Japonica Market, as usual. They just refused to send me the dress in this state, basically, by asking "Can we cancel order?" repeatedly. When I said "yes, please cancel" the money
was in my PayPal an hour later.

I am never going with another SS.

>> No.7458053

You should have got a refund and asked for the dress regardless. Pay SS fees + shipping, see if there was a way to salvage the dress. A lot of impossibly seeming stains can be removed/lightened.

why not? You didn't "buy" it from japonica, they're merely a bidding service. If they refunded you, that means that they got the money back from the japanese seller, or paid for it out of pocket. So you should have tried to get it anyway, unless they returned it to that seller, which might be a possibility.

>> No.7458122

The last 4 things I bought on the EGL sales page and Lacemarket, the sellers, all different sellers, have ALL found stains on them after I paid in full.
They asked if I wanted to cancel, but all the items were uncommon and I was not likely going to find them again... so I sucked it up and bought them anyhow.

Fuck.

You seem like such an entitled brat. The SS told her the dress was ruined for her own sake because it was unfair to receive it in that condition, even though they're not obligated to do so. Lacemarket has me raging a bit, as well. Just opened a PP dispute. Waited nearly a month for this girl to get back to me. Said she'd ship on the 10th, nearly 2 weeks after I paid. No dress yet.
Just Canada to US.

Yes, they did buy it from Japonica. If the item was received not as promised then the op could have filed an "item not as described" claim with Paypal. Japonica had to cancel in order to be safe on their side of business. There is no way the op was going to get their money AND the dress.
When I have bid with Japonica and an item is described with any damage they send an email pointing it out and ask confirmation of the bid before placing it. This way they don't end up with unhappy customers who will try to file claims.

>> No.7458180

>>7458139
Japonica would have sent the dress back though. I don't think you know how this works. Japonica refunded the customer out of pocket immediately because they are a good company. They will be sending back the dress for a refund in their end.
Who knows, maybe the seller will relist it and include info about the stains and the op could get it then, but japonica will not be keeping the dress.

Not a bad person, just stupid as hell. How the fuck do you think she would get a free dress? The SS aren't going to give her a dress for free, they obviously need to send the dress back to get their money. Why should anon 'name and shame' when the items weren't sent out in damaged condition, and the sellers offered to cancel the transaction? Doesn't seem to warrant that, imo. Taking her frustration and bad luck out on a bunch of sellers for each others' single mistakes seems awfully petty.

That said...

>I'm actually having issues with people on lacemarket taking my money and then disappearing from off the face of the earth.

This seems all too easy to do on lacemarket, from my experience. I haven't had outright disappearing acts yet with a seller, but from my experiences there doesn't seem to be very much or at least enough of notification from the system when certain hallmarks are reached; ie marking an item as shipped, notifying one or the other party when feedback has been left, etc. I had a seller not reply to (or even read) any of my messages post-sale, and although the item then showed up to my door unannounced fairly quickly, there didn't seem to be any notification when feedback was exchanged, either, and I had one contact me weeks after a sale to inquire if everything was alright because they didn't see feedback I guess.

I've been getting into lolita, and my comm has their first meetup that they've had in months in a week. I was totally pumped to go, had a coord planned... but I want to cancel going now. I feel like shit. I stopped taking my antidepressants because they were giving me the side effects I knew I couldn't handle living with. I have another appointment tomorrow and I'll probably have my meds changed but it's not like they'll kick in in time. My planned coord isn't up to my standards and nothing seems to be fitting right. And how can I even pretend I'll be up to going to a lolita meetup when I can't even be assed to shower, or go to my classes, or brush my hair out or put on even a spot of makeup...

This isn't you talking. This is the depression talking. It's a disease. It's like a bacteria that does whatever it can to grow stronger and make you sicker. That's why this illness is so dangerous.
You didn't ask for this, you didn't do anything to get this, and you don't deserve this. Focus on getting the treatment you need. Only then will you have the foundation to do anything else.
Have you ever played the sims? You know what happens when you let their happiness meter drop? It's pretty much impossible to do anything. They won't be able to focus at their jobs, they'll refuse to clean the dishes, they'll be mean to other sims. If you keep trying to make them do things, it only gets worse. How do you fix this? You focus on them. Let them paint a picture. Or play video games on the computer. Swing on the swingset. Dance. Actually letting them pee.
Sometimes there are things that are upsetting them that they won't do. Maybe the environment is low, but they won't clean the kitchen. Or their hygiene gives them stink lines, but they won't bathe themselves. You could scream at the computer screen, but that's not going to do anything. Cleaning the dishes or taking a shower aren't things your sim can handle right now. So that means you need to do something else to up their mood before you can tackle that. Maybe stare at a painting. Or talk to a close friend. When they're happier, then you can go back and clean the dishes. Which will improve their mood more, since the environment is better. But you won't be able to do that until you make them feel better first.
Now, sims doesn't have antidepressants, so it isn't applicable in the game. In real life, sometimes we get so deep that even those pleasant things aren't something we can handle. Antidepressants help bring you up a little bit so you're capable of doing these things to help yourself and get better. Just like people with migraines need pain meds in order to think straight.
You're worth it. You deserve it.

>how would they find out?

I've bumped into students/former students and their parents or fellow staff members while I'm out and about before. Thankfully, I've been dressed tamely all those times. Every time it's happened, I've always wondered 'Oh gosh what would they have thought if I was wearing ____?'. Alternative fashion and various aspects of what the media likes to call call 'nerd culture' still have a negative reputation in the eyes of a number of people, so I guess that's my concern.

Like with a lot of other jobs, as a teacher how you present yourself--even on your own time--can matter a lot. If you're seen doing something that would make a parent think you aren't a good role model, it will really harm your reputation. It can be anything from being seen out with friends in a sexy outfit to someone finding a photo of you on your Facebook drinking a cocktail or a parent learning that you're on anti-depressants. I've seen scandals happen because of all three of those examples.

'Fitting in' is also important depending on where you go. I've seen teachers freeze another staff member out and completely cold shoulder them for being 'weird'. It's totally high-school level stuff that you would think adults in their 30s and 40s would be over by now, but it's pretty common in the workplace. Not just in teaching, either. Like many other occupations, teaching can get pretty political.

It's not as bad the school I'm currently working at right now, but still. I guess I'm just conditioned to be paranoid at this point.

>no, it's cause you're a cuntrag who thinks she owns everything just because she married an ambassador and moved to a foreign country with better employee laws than yours

And then it went from bad to worse when we found out that our patrons google us and Facebook apparently doesn't do shit to protect your privacy even if you set it up to "family only". She congratulated me on my wedding the day after she saw it on FB despite me not telling anyone.

Sometimes it's better to use an alias to post loli coords, unfortunately.

It'll be okay, anon! Please don't think of yourself as undeserving of love or care. You're doing all that you're capable of right now and that's perfectly okay! Right now, just focus on yourself and do things that make you happy, like watching a goofy tv show or taking a nap while cuddling some stuffed animals. I know it's really tough right now, but things will get better, and I'm really proud of you for hanging in there!! Good luck with your appointment and I hope you find a medication that works well for you!

I got rid of my facebook a long time ago since I only logged on once or twice a year. I barely even post pictures of myself online anywhere else and I always use a name other than my real one. That has less to do with paranoia and more to do with the fact that I've just never really felt the need to put myself online like that.

>>7464536
What part of the world do you live in, Anon? I live in the American southeast. They eat the 'preppy' thing up here, too. It's pretty big where I live in general, but I've especially noticed it in my fellow teachers. I don't know why that is.

Sad to say, I've ran into the attitude that you're describing pretty often. They don't mind people who are 'eccentric' or 'bohemian' as long as it's in the safe, watered-down kind of way that Will Smith's character from Fresh Prince was considered 'edgy and urban' back in the day.

And the worst part is sometimes I feel like I'm tricking people? I'm making friends with some of the teachers I work with and I can't help but think to myself 'Oh god what would they do if they knew I liked half the stuff I'm into?' (I was shunned for being 'the weird kid' in high school which subsequently turned me into a bitter asshole until I graduated, grew up and got over myself. My friend unfortunately has the same 'ew preps!' mentality.)

I'm assuming you're talking about Keratosis pilaris, and from what I got told you can't really do all that much about it. What you're doing is about as much as you can do, the only thing more would be laser treatment which doesn't necessarily work.

Whoops I totally missed that. I've always wanted to visit Norway, though.

I definitely know that feel, fellow Anon. It's all too easy to say 'who cares what other people think? Just do what you want!' but sometimes it's just no avoiding it. It's a nice thought, but people are going to judge based on appearances no matter what and sometimes, it's a good idea to keep that in mind and be careful.

Anons, I really want something for a coord and I posted a WTB only a few days ago.
But with each passing day my hope drops a little.
How do you girls be patient? I want it so badly and I feel ridiculously anxious.

>> No.7465316

I've never posted a WTB, I always search. Though I've always wanted something general, like a style of blouse or a color of OP. Is your thing very specific? Like the printed headbow for your jsk? You don't have to say if you don't want to reveal yourself

>> No.7465323

>>7465161
In my experience WTBs have never worked. You might get more biters if you are looking for something generic (like a black long-sleeved blouse) but if you want something specific you have to be active and search for it yourself.

That's not how auctions work. Japonica puts your max bid in right away. Just like on ebay, when you set a max for your item that you want but it only shows your starter bid? Japonica put in your bid, someone else saw and outbid you right away.

>> No.7465351

>>7465323
Every WTB I've posted, someone has posted that they have the item and they're willing to sell it to me or an auction link within a couple hours. I've been very lucky in that aspect. But while you're waiting on your WTB, go search for it too.

>>7465387
And what >>7465381 has said is correct. Every shopping service, unless they have real time bidding for you to bid yourself, will enter your maximum when they bid. They don't have the manpower or time to sit there and constantly up your bid on an auction.

Have you guys never used the max bid feature on eBay?
My understanding: They (shopping service) don't bid your max bid right away because that would defeat the point of asking for a starting and max bid.
They also don't sit there monitoring the auction and waiting to be outbid before bidding your max bid.
They input your max bid in the website, so that if you are outbid then your max will be offered automatically, as depicted by >>7465410.

>> No.7465562

>>7465424
Nah it's cool, I just figured you were new to proxy bidding. What it sounds like is that :
1.japonica placed max of 90, showed as 70
2. someone tried to outbid, their max didn't beat japonica's max, but it bumped the bidding to 90.
3. Someone else joined bidding war and successfully outbid japonica.

>>7465439
Yeah, you put in your max right away to decrease the 1 min > bidding war stress/sniping. Helps people not lose auctions by a penny.

If I was lowballing, rejecting the offer would be understandable. I've experienced that before on the seller side of things, believe me! I was just offering an amount that included the domestic shipping charge on a high ticket item. I guess I'm just not impressed with people who aren't straight forward during sales and are comfortable stringing people along.

i'm feeling similar to you anon but you should reach out to a friend and let them know how you're feeling. not taking care of yourself is your depression, and not a reflection on you. take time to take care of yourself, maybe just make it one thing a day, like "today I'll take a shower." and the next day "today I'll do my laundry." and slowly work your way through stuff, so you don't feel overwhelmed.
