I always thought that kind of self improvement was the best, picking out the things with yourself you're unhappy with and changing them for you. Then felling better about yourself because of a change you wanted to make, thus feeling better about yourself and having more confidence.

I've done this myself once or twice.

Why would she put together the laziest Walmart closet cosplay possible, wear no makeup, and then appoint herself as an exemplary representative of the fat cosplay community? She's not doing a favor to anyone's reputation. A better statement would be that a skinny person might get away with such a poor cosplay, but even that is questionable.
