Im wondering about the fit of my IW JSK?
I came under the measurements recommended but I'm wondering if it starts too high up on my torso? Its the long Glitter Seraphim JSK and it starts something like half an inch below my collar bone. Is this a normal IW fit?

>> No.7455138

>>7455129
IW does generally cut a bit high but how is your bust? Do you have a large cup size? Even if you're under the measurements, IW is not cut for boobs above a B cup so it might be riding up on you?

>>7455129
Do you have a worn photo?

>> No.7455147

>>7455129

It's usually more like two inches below. Rather than that though, try to look at other things, are the armholes too high up as well? Is the waist falling in the right place or too high/too low?

If the waist or the armhole is too high, you can adjust the length of the shoulder straps to bring it down. There should be buttons on the shoulder straps that you can unpick, then sew it further along the strap so that it's longer. If the armhole fit before, this will make it much lower, but you're likely to be wearing a blouse underneath so it shouldn't matter much.

If the waist and armholes sit just right, it's just the neckline is an inch below your collarbone, I'd leave it as is and just coordinate around the high neckline (I suggest high-necked collars, maybe with pussy bows).

If the armhole is too high and the waistline is too low, then your torso is too short. It's costly to shorten the bodice, so if you can't coordinate around the weird silhoutte, I'd suggest just selling on the dress.

Its higher than my natural waist, yes. I'm 5'5" (hence opting for the long version!)
The arm holes are higher than usual but not cutting into me.

But nice idea about the straps! There's a heap of room left where I can add two or three more buttons so maybe this won't be so bad after all! I've been worried I'd have to sell it.

Now I'm praying this will fix my kinda weird bust issue, pic related. Or am I being too fussy over it I don't know. It can be covered with a cardigan and all but for the days its too warm I may as well find a better fit dress.

>> No.7455169

To me, it looks like it should be sitting lower. That version of the JSK looks like it was designed to be a low or drop waist jsk, flaring out just at the hipbones or so.
Near as I can tell, yours is at your natural waist?

If you can, I'd adjust the straps to lower it some so it sits better on your bust and the waist.

I've had IW dresses that fit my width but the strap lengths and torsos don't work with me.

>> No.7455177

>>7455167
Yeah no it's really obvious from the side anon, you really need to adjust with the straps. That top part there is supposed to kind of be a boob pocket. (I don't expect it to fit anyone with a larger cupsize but they should at least be in it!)

Was there a 'small' size made for the op? Like I have the op in size 1 and I am 32/26 and it fits pretty okay. Even on my boobs it gives a boob loaf so its the design. I think it may be how you are porportioned. I am 4 11 and like most things hit me on the knee easily. There are a few things now that are longer (and i need a longer petti for them) but I never had issues with length. I'm typical petite East-Asian! Pulling the skirt up to my boobs help, but I'd rather not... I try to leave it on my natural waist (the curve in my hourglass). Maybe I have really short legs since I have noticed that a bit about myself. Or maybe I'm buying skirts that are too long? It's 55cm.

Stand fully on a piece of paper (don't sit down in a chair and bend over, you want your weight on the foot) in your preferred legware (socks, tights, etc). Bend down and trace your larger foot, keeping the pen/pencil straight down (don't let it bend in or out). Then draw a rectangle around your foot, hitting the longest points, and measure a straight line down in CM. This is your Japanese shoe size. Sorry for my shitty drawing, but I hope this helps! Shoe sizing in other countries can be just as bad as clothing sizes (I wear a 6 shoe in some brands and a 7.5 in others, for example, but I have a 23.5 cm long foot) so it's best to just ignore a conversion chart and measure your foot yourself, i think!

>> No.7457013

>>7456985
That seems standard for the length on skirts, so it should be at knee length typically. If you do need shorter skirts, new AP is getting shorter so that is a thing, or scalopettes because those tend to on the short side as well. A bigger petti will make it rise up and therefore shorter on you, but you dont want to try to overcompensate with the petti.

Oops, just realized I posted this in the old thread... Quick IW question- I assume the answer is yes but. if you're ordering 1 reservation item and 1 in-stock item from IW in the same order, they'll wait to ship both until the reservation item is released, right?

They're not like Baby (I think it is?) that doesn't allow you to order and ship reserve and in-stock items at the same time?

I just got a dress that I had been after for a long time which was my dream dress (tied with another I have yet to find) and it has weird white marks on it. It's black chiffon and I'm not sure if it's a stain or if it has gone that way from discoloration as it's fairly old. So far I've found 2 longish marks on the bodice and one on the front of the skirt - they're in really noticeable places. I'm going to contact the seller but I'm a bit worried as I had to hassle them a lot already with getting them to reply to me. Does anyone have any tips on how to get whiteish marks out of black chiffon? I didn't want to pay $400 to get a damaged dress, especially when it's one that I like so much.

Complete differet topic, but this just appeared on my dash; Angelina from the albinwonderland blog answering the request for a full Lolit Outfit she mentioned to wear:

"’m not sure if I really wear “full lolita”, although I sure do admire that style a lot! I tend to borrow elements and pieces from many fashion styles and fit them into my own personal style, so if I had to categorize myself within the context of lolita it would lean more towards retro lolita or casual lolita, or at times hime lolita.

For example, here I am wearing this Angelic Pretty jsk a few weeks ago~
(see Pic)
Normally, to be considered proper lolita, I should be wearing a blouse under the jsk. But that’s just not me! And I think that’s okay, you know? I don’t really believe in rules when it comes to fashion, I say just wear whatever makes you happy.

Anyways I’ve been back on a lolita kick the past few months so I’m sure you’ll see me in lots of frills in the future."

So, what do you guys think? I really love her and I love that she enjoys her dress, but there is something about this that irks me. Anyone else or am I just a bitchy nitpicker about this? Nonetheless I would love to see a proper Lolita coord of her!

I like cute, youthful fashion and all, but the whole "nymphet" thing creeps me out considering the origins of the word. It's what the pedo/ephebophile narrator of Lolita used to describe his fantasy girls, which is definitely not something I would want to associate with (I know the book was doing the opposite of promoting that sort of thing, but any nuance really goes over people's heads).

i think it's because seeing 14 year olds girls proudly call themselves (and dress as) essentially "pedo-bait" or whatever you want to call it is really disturbing. because to their point of view it might be taking early ownership of their sexuality, or being proud that they can cause such a reaction in people at a young age, maybe. but from a pov that has a fully developed frontal lobe, it's essentially inviting abuse and statutory rape. and proudly, boldly, with no shame. it's hard to watch. i don't think most of the girls who would want to dress in ~nymphet~ fashion are really thinking about the realities of what's out there, just a nebulous thrill at being thought of as sexy so soon.

I'm just wondering why

>> No.7468313

>>7468282

I think it's a mix of springcleaning, popular opinion and maybe herd mentality.

Spring cleaning happens around this time of the year, and you're likely to come across old things stashed away.

Popular opinion -- if you come across an old dress and it's still worth something you might hang on to it, or at least think twice about selling; however, if it's past its popularity peak then you're likely to sell it off in order to make space and maintain a nicely curated wardrobe.

As for herd mentality, it's not so much copying your peers, but sometimes if you see someone selling a dress you own, you might be reminded that you still own that dress and no longer like it as much, so then you put it up for sale.

And lastly, given that a lot of these things are seasonal repeats (eg AP puts out a chocolate print and a toy print every year) then it might be girls selling off the dresses after their season is over, in time to buy the next release.

>> No.7468315

>>7468282
So they can start buying the new more mature sweet themed items maybe (getting too old for boldly childish things like toys on prints and big cartoony globs of chocolate dribbling on everything)

I will never understand how having dark brown eyebrows is shit but having black lashes and liner is not. both play a role in making eyes look larger and faces look more striking

Anyway I'm guessing you're naturally brown eyed brunette too? Regardless of brows its OK but if your eyes are brown as well it looks a little more silly that you got blonde hair on top... shame but true. At least brown eyes can pull off all eye shadows I guess but unfortunately not all hair.

A lot of Meta's blouses in the past 3 months or so have been amazing! And I've missed them all due to allocating funds for other things. I wonder how often nice Meta blouses come up secondhand...

In the western market, not often unless it's lucky pack season and you got a bunch of fugly ones. On mbok and Y!JA, pretty regularly, but again, mostly fugly ones. You can find nice ones though. I've gotten a few of their older chiffon ones in the last year for under 4000yen each.

I feel like the only person who dislikes that style of sleeves. They're everywhere right now. That blouse is gorgeous otherwise.

I don't like those sleeves either.

I somehow ended up with Dreamy Baby Room OP in pink last year... I can't sell it because nobody wants it and it's absolutely impossible to tone it down ;_;
