So I'm going to cosplay as Gamagoori, but having seen the newest episode I am not pondering if I should use the new black/dark blue uniform. Which do you guys think looks more impressive? The white uniform with gold spikes and highlights or the black uniform with gold spikes and highlights? I'm glad I saw this episode before actually starting to make the uniform.

Yeah I thought about the stain thing and iconic nature of the white costume. I also thought about reusing the costume and I figured the black one would stay relevant longer as I imagine next year people will be more akin to their final (I assume this will be the final considering the show is near over) looks. If there are OVAs or anything like that they'll probably retain those black costumes too. It's a tough call..

I'm just trying to figure out what will stand out more and look better to your average person at the con. Since I'm making the black costume myself, any mistakes I make will probably be less apparent with that.

And for the record, what color do people think the uniform actually is? Kill la Kill likes to mess with blue and black in a fairly ambiguous way and I'm not sure if I should go for midnight blue or super dark blue fabric instead of actual black.

For my money it's black, and any blue tones are in there for shading purposes. The transformed versions are also influenced by the nudist aesthetic and any bits of clothing the nudists have is black, so it'd keep with the scheme.

As someone who made a lot of Bleach costumes back in the day I can verify that entirely white costumes are a bitch to keep completely clean.

Is anyone else confused as fuck about Inumuta's new design? It's so strange. Like he's a bug.

Way too late for me to switch since I've already gotten materials for their first silver and white outfits. But I honestly prefer it, they're worn those longer and I really prefered Inumuta's wiring in blue than a tacky gold, Nonon's baby blue color scheme, and Uzu's having some green to him. Forgetting Gamagori but I feel like he always looks more consistent than the others, no extra coloring or anything to really bring him out.

Why do girls like KILL LA KILL?

Any ideas on how to get the three star symbol on a jacket when doing Gamagoori? I'm not sure what I should try doing. I think I saw pictures of a cosplay where someone from what i can tell used a very reflective shiny black fabric to sew the stars on and it did look pretty cool.

I would like probably the most straight forward method since I'm not exactly an expert.

Was anyone else really underwhelmed by Shinra-Kotetsu's design? After all the build-up it just felt really... meh.

I was too until I learned its design is a traditional japanese wedding dress. I'd think it's Ragyo trying to one-up Satsuki yet again ("this will be your wedding dress") but the design is ugly as fuck.

Anyone have suggestions for Nonon's wig?

It seems to be a bubblegum pink color, but I can't find anything that's the right color. Would it be acceptable to go a bit lighter?

Adra's hot pink seems closest, but too dark. They don't really have anything there in the right color, and I'm also looking on ebay, which seems to only have magenta or pastel pink.

Pic related is the only wig I've found in what seems to be the right color, but it's up for bids and it's like $5 so I can't imagine it's great quality. Or should I maybe try to get a lighter pink wig and then dye it a little darker?

I'm just letting you know though, don't trust any sellers on Ebay or other sites using that wig head and in a setup like that. You are definitely not going to get what's pictured, I wanted to avoid Taobao so I did that and got the wrong thing 2 times. They just use those pictures because the wigs look high quality and nice unlike their own wigs.

question about wigs in general:
do you guys notice flaws in the bangs area of wigs as much as i do? for example, take nonon. she clearly has full side-bangs, yet i see people do bangs going in all directions. or, hatsune miku. most people don't bother cutting a miku wig at all, leaving just a giant black forehead space where bangs should be. every wig i cut gets the most attention to the bangs area. is this a big deal or am i just being shitty?

Interface the collar. Interfacing comes in several widths, just find one that can hold up the metal-parts of his collar. I know the absolute thickest interfacing can, but it might be too much. But yeah, you'll be fine.
Just make sure you iron it before attaching it to the jacket.

I've sanded Fimo Air Light, it worked out fine. You'll need to go over twice, the last should be with a fine grit paper. As always, multiple coats of primer help to seal it properly.

No. It's incredibly yellow. If you search something like "long ponytail cosplay wig" a ton of options will come up that aren't such a terrible color, and they're straight instead of curly.

None of the characters have canon heights. Everything so far is fan-made.

So I'm doing Gamagoori. What kind of fabric should I use for his outfit? I have a Joannes nearby so if you know of a specific one that would be very helpful. This is my first time making a costume. I'm debating between white and gold or black and gold versions, but I'm leaning on black.

Can you guys help me out and make sure that the "stripes" look correct? They're just pinned on right now (and the dressform is not quite small enough, it won't look that frumpy on a real person, I promise) and I feel like I've been looking at them for too long now to have an unbiased eye.

Would this be okay for a Nonon base wig? I really did not think finding a wig in her colour would be this hard.

Buy one at a convention, usually they have all types of styles and colors.

Though as a general rule of thumb on nonon wigs, make sure they are medium length at MAX, and that you can lift the extra hair into a pony that will be able to fit under your hat.

How do you guys make your boot covers stay up? I've tried fashion tape before, but it never seemed to work for me no matter how much i put on. I was thinking of sewing them to nude tights, but i really hate when you can see how shiny the tights are when someone does that and it looks really obvious. Any suggestions?

I'm planning to sew mine to dance tights, since those are sturdier and more matte. I should be done with them this weekend, I guess I can let you know how it goes?
