By "the basics", I mean she's got her chest and shoulders covered, she's wearing a petticoat, and even though she chose a crummy color she recognizes the fact that chiffon blouses are preferable in lolita over something easier to find (i.e., a t-shirt). Not to mention, she's practicing good overall hygiene too. She put a lot of thought into this coord, they were just newbie thoughts and she tried to cut a few corners which produced a crummy coord.
And for christ's sake, it's bodyline anon...nobody's going to give her a "free pass" for her "burando".

This is really just a beginner coord. I want to see all your beginner coordinates and how perfect they were. I can tell she put thought into it, the use of the belt shows that she was trying to tie in the boots with the darker hair. The blouse would be better with a JSK or skirt. It's not terrible, but it's not perfection. It's just basic beginner mistakes, and things you'd expect from a new lolita who hasn't rounded out their wardrobe yet. This is what I thought too. If anything, the 'oh well, close enough' thing on several components is what often keeps new people ita longer. One or two incongruous things, yes. This is too many together.

I'd further say that a fruity waffle print in pink is such a light and summery thing that anything but white or pink in boots is not a good choice and that it's harder to coordinate this for colder weather which may be the case here. Everything but the dress and bow seems clunky and wintery. I'd have coordinated it lighter and worn a Lolita coat if it's cold.

Once it came in the mail and she realized it was hideous, she messaged them complaining that the dress was nothing like the stock photos and they gave her a 50% refund. I agree with you that these (along with a lot of what's being posted today) belong in nitpick rather than ita.

BUT by the looks of all the different umbrellas and shoes (and how the majority of them seem 'kawaii'esk), this looks like a meet. Probably should throw some makeup on for those and expect pictures to be taken.

I feel like an ita. I still consider myself a beginner, but I'm a proud beginner? And I'll take constructive criticism but I most likely won't follow it? Ha, because I like lolita coords that look more like something Cyndi Lauper might have worn in her glory days. Because why not have fun with it.

Anyway, I usually stuck to boystyle so this is one of my first "girl style" coords and it's pretty simple. Just for a tea shop meetup.
