Oh man, the last thread was GOLD.

I remember people talked about adding horror motifs to it with dark colours, whilst not making it look too much like gothic lolita.
I'm excited to try and work this.

Definitely. I ordered some stuff from Dangerous nude (medusa skirt and some stockings) to try and start a Horror outfit.

I think Gothic Doll type makeup is good for black/white or Alice-type toned down guro coordinates.

It's been a while since they released any new collections... They always make the most bizarre shit, but the creepier it is the more I like it.

This guro thing is my legacy after hi-jacking the last thread. I'm so happy because it's something I'd always wondered: why isn't guro like this instead of the blood splattered white dresses?

Anywho, there's a store called Macare gadgets that sells some hella cool rings, but they all cost nearly $100 a piece. I want one some day!!!

Also, in the Lolita general, some people were talking about how this new dress could be a really cool main piece to a guro coord. Body horror, yay!

It's been a thing for a long time without checklists or really much other rules than it being a theme of one of several sub styles 'gone guro'. So it would need to generally follow the 'what is Lolita' rules but little else to impair creativity. Some of the creepiest I've seen have been pink and sweet 'corrupted' into guro.

The term Ero-Guro Nonsense as a Japanese art style has been around since the 1930's and manny Angura-kei and Shiro Nuri incorporate guro elements. There is often an erotic or fetish element as well, on some level. So I'm not sure how defining a simple list to limit things can be as helpful when Guro, if only a theme within sub styles, has maybe some of the most diverse influences in all of Lolita.

Not the same anon, but I've done this before. You can do it with any red nail polish.
Paint a messy French manicure in red.
Use a dotting tool (a bobby pin or toothpick will work if you don't have one) to create dots midway down your nail, then drag up to connect it to the messy french.
Apply topcoat the opposite way you normally would, i.e. from the top of your nail to your cuticle.

Look up "slime manicure" for tutorials.

I made a nonsensical collage which is more like possible accessories and makeup suggestions. Also, forgot a blouse, but it would probably be a similar black blouse.

Also, I think the shoes and stockings should be the same as on the skirt simply because it looks strange. Too many feet.

As for makeup, I think one circle lens on an eye, same eye color or not, would be a subtle body horror type thing to do if you aren't wearing an eyepatch. Most of the bags I found were on pinterest, but I think it would be cool to make a bag out of a white rabbit, and make it look as if you killed the white rabbit, heheheuah. Stitch red thread around the neck, maybe add a button, and some loose thread coming from the button...

You cut open the belly or back for the opening, take out a bit of stuffing to make room for the storage parts, and stitch in a lining. Y'know, like just add a pocket to it. I know there are tutorials simply because animal plush totes are so popular in lolita, so I'm sure you could find it with Google-fu.

It's just always been that way. Really, that's the only reason.
My guess is, when lolita first got started, there weren't an awful lot of themes. Any theme variation got tagged as a "substyle" if it showed up in the right magazine/mook a couple of times.
But quickly people realized if this went on we'd have endless "substyles" so it more or less stopped. Guro was there early on and no one wants to remove it.
Personally I call it a "theme" and I refuse to include it on substyle lists or mention it as one. It shouldn't be one, period.

Sweet, Classic & Gothic seem like the solid sub styles, the rest themes that fit into one of them. Idk about Punk though.

Not to get into a debate and derail the thread topic though, just my passing opinion. I like the themes and want to make a guro coordinate but I like the bloody handprints on white apron thing. Or something creepy doll or a medical thing... with bandages and fake injuries.

These too if you prefer pressed eyeshadow. The first one is LE and only available once in a while but Love+ is in the regular shadows.
Sephora made one called Geisha too but it's DC so harder to find. Some smaller stores have it, they don't always pull the dc stock.
Nars Emanuelle is more subtle and brick colored but pretty.

I'm still making it unfortunately, the amount of chiffon gathered on the bodice is too much in comparison to the and it makes me look very frump, I am going to add a primate waist band of velvet ribbon to add a bit of length to the full dress, also removing some of the red under the dress skirt portion so there will be a bigger chiffon to red underskirt ratio and possible adding a ruffle of the white chiffon under the dress that would look similar to the sleeves. Also the red doesn't show through these pictures very well, you can see it more in natural lighting.

Does anyone else think a Hannibal themed guro coord would be possible?

Or other serial killer themes.

Wear an outfit similar to some of NBC Hannibal's suits, like doing any old themed coord, and add a chiffon over-layer to mimic the plastic suit he uses to keep his real suits from getting bloody.

The anon from the last thread (who also posted in the general lolita thread at my request) was making a dress with a chiffon over-layer, and I think something like that could work. Perhaps not completely covering the coord, but something like that!

I think it's mostly in the makeup and accessories and small details. Like wearing one circle lens in one eye, but not the other, for small body horror things that put people off. More extreme forms of Gothic lolita makeup to look paler and dead-ish. Guro accessories like anatomical heart necklaces or baby doll arms or etc. I like some cheesy accessories, but I would limit it to one or none cheesy or really fake or w/e accessory.

With makeup you could go up a color lighter in foundation, no blush, but use browns or blacks to make yourself look gaunt. Asymmetrical makep, maybe? Like while one eye is heavy in eyeliner in a certain way, make it lighter or a different style or color on the other eye... Idk, I like subtlety.

I don't like the idea of beads, but flocking a dark red with flecks of shimmer would look really lovely. Flocking isn't a very hard process if you don't do it too thick, and it would add a bit of elegance to the chiffon. I just think that beads are too bulky and would look off.

Flocking is when you have a velvet "print" where the material is cut away to normal cotton or whatever around the design via chemicals. So you have a raised velvet print on smooth cotton, for example. Search "flocky rose" in google images and you'll get some various brand examples.

You can also do it yourself by gluing down fibers. It looks a bit messy but you can do it really well after a while.
