Did Baby always sell out of their items so quickly? I swear it's impossible to get anything decent from them new, it's all sold out.

Series that get hyped a lot seem to sell out pretty quickly, but there are also a lot that don't. And popular colorways always disappear really fast. I guess it does seem like things sell out faster than they did in the past, but I would attribute that to more exposure and fans all over the internet.

Is it normal for anyone else's boyfriend to get grumpy while rocking horses are worn? Mine's not short, he's still taller than me when I wear them, he just hates them a lot.
Which is weird because he loves every other weeby thing that I wear.

>> No.7402769

You pretty much have to reserve if you really want something. It's kind of a pain though because it prevents any spur-of-the-moment purchases and I don't like waiting three months every time I order something.
Even many basics like blouses and socks are all sold out. I wish they could increase production of basic items just a little since they are versatile and have fairly consistent demand. Oh well.

How long would you give a buyer to pay for an auction? Someone won my LM auction and she hasn't replied to my two PMs or paid my invoice. Hmm, I'd give it the full 48 hours and then contact an admin (and tell her that that's what you plan to do). It's possible they took the item down because they received your order and just haven't gotten around to sending your invoice yet. If you're the anon I was talking to before about how long they take to process orders, I got really nervous about this too because the item I ordered was marked as sold by them before I received an invoice/reply from them but they finally sent it to me a day or two later. Question. I've got a jsk with shirring in the back, but it's to loose in the back. I found I look better in dresses/jsks that have lacing in the back, then ones with shirring.

So I'm thinking of altering it. Should I leave in the shirring, and simply add in some corset style lacing, or should I take out the shirring stitching, take the back in a bit, then add in the lacing?

It's not a brand piece or super expensive dress, so I'm not worried about altering it. I figured if I couldn't think of anything, I'd consider talking to a professional seamstress and get a quote for altering it.

Taking out the shirring would look better. But there's a risk that the fabric may be 'damaged' from being scrunched up for so long. If it's an older dress there may be a noticable difference in how much the fabric has been worn/discoloured between the parts that were exposed and those that were hidden.

Has anyone ordered Juliette et Justine's shoes or boots? Or seen them in real life? How is the sizing? I'm in love with their new long boots... but my feet measure 25,3 cm and L size says 25 cm. Also I'm not sure about the quality because my new J&J dresses have been a bit disappointing.

>> No.7404279

>>7404250
The boots look a bit bulky worn, all the pictures of the models wearing them seem a bit unfortunate. I guess they work better on people with chubby calves.

I don't own JetJ shoes, but many shoes from other brands and the sizing is pretty much the same everywhere.
If you feet size is bigger than the listed max. it probably won't fit. Japanese shoe sizes list the insole length of the shoes, not the feet size you need for an ideal fit. For an ideal fit your feet should measure 0,5 cm less than the listed Size. My feet measure 24 cm and I always get shoes which measure 24,5 cm.
On a side note, brand shoes are never of high quality unless you buy Jane Marple. They use real leather and last quite long from what I've heard. And for that price tag you can already buy a nice pair of fluevogs or something similar, or maybe find a cheaper alternative on taobao.

Topics I'd like to cover would be coordination tips (how to go from basic to interesting), posing, what's trending at the moment, a bit about expanding into various styles, and touching on dressing for your body type. Any other suggestions on things you'd like to see?

At that point most of the people attending and the panelists would be at about the same level of knowledge, and it becomes fodder for discussion, not a panel (panelists presenting to audience).

I think the only subjects that would be interesting for panels to lolitas at a higher level would be ones that are extremely specific, such as a panel discussing historically relevant information to lolita, or a craft relevant to lolita, like the panels Frill etc have tried to do. But as a general panel, I don't think it works.

There was a panel at Sakura-con where we had a couple of cute things that weren't experience specific.
Played "Guess Which is Brand and Which is Offbrand/Homesewn"
And a little project runway thing where we were split in groups, given some craft supplies, and we had to make an accessory really quick and model it down a runway. It was fun.

The idea of the history of lolita sounds nice, since it would be interesting for outsiders and probably some new information for the experienced. If it was specific, well researched, in depth, and used every minute wisely.
It's a rather large topic though, to fit it all in the timeframe. I think a lot of panel makers try to tackle too big of a topic, and end up only having enough time for wikipedia-tier overview.

On another note, I think it would be neat if the overhead would have a slideshow of pictures running while everyone is getting settled. Bonus points for information underneath naming the substyle, brand/s, region, and year.

Can somesome explain to me how to order from tokyoalice? I think I did something terribly worng, but I don't know what exactly, so here is a detailed explanation of what steps I took:
I tried to follow their overseas instructions and clicked on the link to the english rakuten store, then I registered and made an account and logged in. When I click on "women's clothing" it show up 0 zero results. The same thing when I enter a brand in the search bar. It only shows some items from the latest update, but not everything either. The item I wanted to purchase wasn't there.
Then I changed my strategy and clicked on a random item of the update section and figured out how I have to change the item url in order to get to the item that I want. I simply have to copy the number code from the japanese site and replace it with the code from the english site - et violà, there it was.
When I clicked on the cart button, a message popped up saying something like "we are sorry the site doesn't serve overseas, please contact the seller for further information". I ignored the message and clicked "ok". For the next step I had to confirm my shipping address, and then I came to the payment instructions where I had to chose between credit card and bank transfer. This is where I gave up because I only have paypal. Don't they accept paypal payments for real or did I make something horribly wrong?
Someone help please, i don't want this to happen again in the future.
>tfw the item is sold out now, it was super rare and you will probably never see it for sale again

They have 96 positive feedback 0 neutral or negative, so I'm sure they're not scamming me, but I'm getting worried that it got lost or something because I didn't get tracking for it because it would have been way more expensive. I'm wondering what I should do from here, since I'm sure they're not scamming, but I don't have the skirt and I want my money. Contact the seller and talk to them about it before you do anything.
Then, if it's domestic, maybe file a claim once you get near the 45 day deadline if the seller won't/can't do anything.
If it was an international transaction, shipping can take a damn long time. I recently bought a bag and had my tracking stop working for 3 weeks, making me think the package had been lost. However, it came just the other day, making its total transit time over 5 weeks; so really, 2.5 weeks isn't a very long time. Not to mention, paypal covers you for 180 days if it's international, at least if you're in the US.

Agreeing with and adding to what >>7406629 said, tracking really is the only way to protect yourself and you should always get it.
If the item is too expensive with it, then you either shouldn't be buying it or you should be totally open to the possibility that it and your money will be lost.
I hope the seller forced you to pay with gift, as this sort of buyer behaviour has really been irking me lately.

>> No.7406657

>>7406629

Fucking this. If you didn't pay for the tracking/insurance necessary to file a claim with the postal service for lost/damage, that's you're problem. Yeah, it sucks to lose money, but why should the seller have to be the one and not you?

If you're the buyer: find out what you need in terms of tracking/insurance that would cover you for loss or damage, and fucking pay for it. I know some sellers say no tracking/insurance because it's expensive, but insist that you will pay for it. Any reasonable seller will do it. If they're been anal and refusing to include it even if you're paying, that's a different matter entirely. If you won't pay to cover the package, take the hit. Don't take out your own cheapness on the seller.

If you're the seller: Find out what shit you need to cover you arse in the event of loss/damage, and fucking insist on it. This is especially important with international packages, which are of a greater risk of getting lost or damaged. If you send your £300 Angelic Pretty OP across the globe without any coverage, you're a fucking retard.

for the girl in the guro thread that wanted to see this dress when it done, it's done, sort of. All i really need to do it install the zipper but i want to try to fix it. I ran out of chiffon towards the end so i don't have as much on the skirt portion as i would like, and then I have too much on the bust which makes me look bigger than I already am so I will probably take some of it off. I will hopefully buy some more soon and make a trim at the bottom because it is rather short and a short over lay thing like I poorly drew on the bottom picture. All that or I will just resew the chiffon over lay on the bodice and remove like a quarter to a third of the red part of the skirt so there will be a bigger chiffon to red part ratio. so However I probably won't get around to this for a long time so I am just posting this now. A) My hair is badly contained under the wig cap (bulky braids, etc) and causes lumps where there are normally none. Solve by pinning your hair down flatter.

B) The wig cap is too large. Simply take it in. Practice with a shitty wig.

C) Not wearing it quite right. Experiment! Shift it to the left, the right, back, forwards, and once it looks the least awkward, leave. Go do something else, come back in 10 minutes. Look at yourself, and see if its still awkward looking. If so, try again with various fixes. Wigs are a big departure from normal hair, especially since you know it isn't yours and that its fake.

Fresh from egl:

hello everyone my name is elizabeth, im getting married soon and i kinda need a dress. my problem is i am kind of on a budget and im very picky. im also not having a traditional ceremony, my wedding will be just me and my man in a judges office with his siblings, with a possible multiple receptions afterward so i kind of was looking for something on the shorter side but still dressy? i thought lolita would be perfect but my fiance likes traditional white gowns...im very petite im only five feet high and my soon to be 12 year old little brother in law weighs more than i do so it safe to say i have pretty much no curves, so id like something more fitted on top so i dont look like im five but i think something fun and anime like would be more my style. (even though i usually go for a more classic style.) i had imagined maybe a more mainstream dress with a bit of a classic loli flair maybe corsetted on top with a cupcake skirt and tons of lace so that it could still be worn with lolita/anime style accessories and still look put together and planned out. my fashion idol is marie antoinette and so far i think dior and pnina tornai are my fave designers but way out of my price range. what do you guys think? i can take this down if its annoying but i just didnt know if the power of the egl network could help point me in the right direction?

Uneducated girl talks about how the fashion shouldn't be called lolita anymore because the name of the fashion comes from the book.

How can I ensure that I'll have a safe trade? I'm wanting to trade a $500 dress for a different colorway but I don't know how I feel about attaching just a tracking code on the dress. What if the other girl promises to send me on the same day but never does? What if I never get a tracking code?

>> No.7410902

>>7410467

You can't ensure a 100% safe trade. One way people feel encourages safety is to send each other an equivalent monetary value before the trade, refunding only when both items are received. The problem with that is, what is to stop a scammer just filling a claim and getting her money back, without sending out your dress.

A greater incentive to not scam someone would be if the invoices were sent to each other as gift payments, as you wouldn't be able to file a Paypal claim. The person could just go to their bank and have the transaction reversed, mind you. Sending a gift invoice in itself requires a great deal of trust.

Honestly, the best way you can protect yourself is to do your research on the other person. Don't go with someone with little or no feedback, and make sure the person you're trading with is mature and level-headed.

A thought that's just occurred to me would be to insure your package for the value of the dress, and to insure it's covered in the event of loss (be 100% sure of this, Postal companies love worming their way out of covering losses). That way, should the other person be a scamming bitch, you could hopefully claim the value of your item back. I don't how that'd work with regards to tracking though, should the tracking say it was delivered to the scammer.

Does anyone know of anywhere that has decent classic style blouses in brown? I'm trying to match Royal Carousel and all I can find is white, Ivory, or black in classical style. I even looked at more sweet styles and I can find pinks, blues, and yellows, but still no brown.

I really love the look of rocking horse shoes, but although I'm not tall, I'm not exactly short either (5'6").

I'm a sweet lolita and I just think adding 3" to my height wouldn't look good with sweet, I would then be 5'9 and it wouldn't look as cutesy if I was that tall (in my opinion)

I'm not trying to offend anyone taller, it's just my own insecurity and concerning myself only, I've always wanted to be shorter... what do you guys think, is 5'6" + 3" with rocking horse shoes too tall for sweet lolita? (I can see it working for other styles, though)

Should I just get over myself and try it out anyway?

I've always liked the idea, but the print isn't egypt at all. It would be like mixing romans and christmas
