Why senketsu's eye on yours and many other ryukos looks so odd is that is looks like there's a square hiding under your collar, rather than the illusion of an eye with the collar as eyebrow.
In still frames and art you can find senketsu as a right angle, but it just doesn't read like an eye in real life unless you give him his 'determined' eyes. ie A triangle with an obtuse angle.

I think both Ryuko and Satsuki works, especially with their hair cuts. Ryuko's hair stands away from her temples/cheeks, which would make your face look more square. Be sure that it has volume to stand away from your face!
On Satsuki, if you let her pin straight hair fall in front of the sides of your face, it'll narrow your face, and the parts of her bangs that go up will lengthen your face. I'd suggest cutting her bangs shorter than canon, at mid eyebrow, rather than at eyelash like in the show. You want to exaggerate your face length.

Of the two, I'd suggest Satsuki.
