I personally think it adds to the realism, but, on some it looks great, on some it looks awful. If it's done well, it can work.

Depends on the hair. If you naturally have thick, easily styled hair that doesn't turn into frizz halfway through the day, it can look nice. Especially when you get the actual undercuts that you can't really do with a wig. Same with ponytails or updos like Annie's, it can be hard to use a wig, depending on your skill level.

If you have dye your hair, go to a professional if you don't have experience dying (and ESPECIALLY bleaching) your own hair.

Real hair can be really good for cosplays, it's just rare that real hair is done right in them.

Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this, I figured it'd be better to ask this here rather than the help thread seeing as this is a SNK related question.

In a couple of weeks I'll be participating in a friends SNK shoot, and I was digging around my closet and these were the highest calved boots I could find.

These are the boots I bought on Ebay. The reason I ended up with two pairs was because the original pair I bought on Aliexpress was out of stock. These were about $25. The largest size available is US8, UK 38. I usually wear about a US 9 due to having wide feet but decided for the price I would risk it. I’m 5’6”, for reference. Shipping was fast, about two weeks from China to the US. Tracking number updated through Ebay and showed progression.

The boots came in box inside a “body bag”. The box was crushed but the boots were fine. My size 9 feet fit in the boot, a little snug but not uncomfortably. The pleather is on the thin side and the lining is not attached to the inside of the boot except at the top on the knee flap. The color is dark brown. The soles are grippy and the heel is about 1 ¾ inches. The heel would need to be painted to match the rest of the sole. The calf measurement is about 14 inches and the shaft height from above the heel is about 20 inches.

Bottom line - I don’t think I’ll keep these ones, they’re little bit small and short, but as long as you fit in the measurements they should be fine. The buckles and straps will need to be taken off, but that’s really easy with a seam ripper and an X-acto knife. Just go slow and make shallow cuts until you can tear the straps off at the seams (don’t cut through any threads holding the boot together.)

Aliexpress now. As stated above, the size I ordered was out of stock. In the past the boots I’ve ordered from China have always run small, so I ordered size 11. I messaged the seller and asked if they had a size up or down and then didn’t hear anything for four days. I put in a request to cancel the order, which was rejected because they had sent something out. Wasn’t sure what size I was going to be getting at this point. I’m aware I completely disregarded my own advice on sizing with the Ebay boots.

I’m not sure how long the Aliexpress boots took to ship because the tracking number never moved past processing until the package reached the US. The number didn’t even work on the Chinese tracking website, but USPS worked as soon at the package was in their hands. I ended up with size US 11, UK 42, so I guess they had a restock? They can just in a bag with the boots wrapped in plastic.

The pleather on these is thicker and somewhat more matte. The size 11 is about perfect for me, so if you have wide feet, take that into consideration when choosing a size. The lining is attached at the top and where the zipper opens. Calf measurement is 16 inches and a shaft height is 24 inches. The toes are more pointed and the sole is not as heavy looking. The heel pad is hard plastic and extremely slippery. Definitely going to have to get some grip tape for these. The color is a bit darker than the Ebay boots. I already took the buckles off of these, I included a picture of the damage. Not too bad and I don’t think it will be noticeable from a distance.

Bottom line - These are the ones I’m going to keep. They’re roomy enough for pants and leg belts and overall they feel sturdier. These would be better for tall people and people with larger calves. I wish the soles looked more accurate.

I have a question: what age are the 104th kids?
I was under the impression that they joined up at 15, which would make them more like 17 now. However, I often see complaints that a cosplayer "looks too old to be 15". Were they really 13 when they began training?

I have these boots, and let me tell you, though they look pretty decent, they hurt like hell if you wear them walking around all day. There's no cushioning whatsoever on the bottom of the shoe, and the lining is so thin (and also not attatched, like this anon said.) Thin enough to accidentally rip through with your fingers, even (which.... unfortunately happened to me when i was trying to pull the boot on). They're boots that'll do the job for cosplay, yes, but you'll never ever want to wear them outside of cosplay. Ever.
They only seem to have a few wears worth of life, in my opinion, and I'm usually pretty delicate with shoes. They come smelling intensely like chemicals or factory or something like that, but it'll air out in a few days. Order up for sizes, imo; my feet are exactly 24.5 cm (I usually wear US size 8), and I ordered size 8...My toes hurt like a bitch after the con. My feet are 4 inches exactly at their widest point, though I don't believe it made much of a difference.
