I just picked up some new make-up for myself:

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation
Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray
Mac Pressed Blot Powder

I wear Smashbox primer underneath, and so far I've found that my skin looks really smooth and there's no discoloration. The foundation is a full-coverage, but it really isn't greasy or thick and the powder is light enough to not make my face look too cakey. I really recommend the setting spray to those with an oily t-zone or want their make-up to last longer.

Continuing from when we were talking about false eyelashes and creative uses of its glue.

I tried using eyelash glue on the edges of my silicone nipple covers. It worked like a charm all day, but I just took them off.
My nipples are NOT HAPPY
The skin around is puckered white with rosy pinks underneath and there's a couple of pea sized pocks/divets. KIND OF FREAKING ME OUT. It feels sensitive and raw, but doesn't hurt.
I'm gonna sleep on this and see how it looks in the morning. I'm guessing that the glue's seal was too tight and the skin couldn't breathe properly. Kind of like a too-tight bandaid. I'll leave panic over the possibility of wounds that need to heal and irrational fears of chemical burns (i don't know, this glue was pretty cheap or maybe it reacted to the glue already on the covers. a little chunk of the cover came off the edge too) for tomorrow if it still looks bad.

Even if is just the skin's need to breathe, I'm going to try to figure out how to avoid this. It wouldn't be healthy to suffocate my nips every day.
Other Anon, did you ever try out the glue too? Maybe I should use the glue brand you guys were talking about before.

I just wanted to post this just because WOW makeup was more powerful than I thought.

>i have to be pretty fast paced so my makeup is as follows
> bb cream to cover acne and scar related discolorations etc
> eyeliner/mascara
> maybe a liptint and i'm done.

i normally skip blush because i think its kinda overdone + i apply my bb is kinda translucent and picks up some of my roscea underneath and figured itd be better to use my real "blush" than slap on an artificial one

>decide to buy blush coz why not + i felt it was the "too much" exception to my normal routine for lolita
>try it for work one day
>randomly getting compliments everywhere on how nice i was looking that day
>literally changed nothing besides add a tiny bit of blush

made my day.

All round Whitening checklist, the more the merrier:

> SPF 50+ suncreen with PA+++ (try Tony Moly UV Sunset Maximum Sun Block Cream or Holika Holika Wondershield, I'm using the latter right now and love it)

> BB cream makeup instead of foundation (normally with whitening products)

> A "reverse fake tan" you can get is Milky Dress. Use for occasions you would a fake tan I guess. I just got this in the mail today so I'm gonna test it today.

> A product I am using and totally love is Palmers "Eventone" Dark Spot Corrector. This is really for people with acne discolourations, which I do have and was why i originally got it, and family and friends have been noticing the difference and being the scientist wannabe I am, I hadn't told them I was using it. I put it on before going to sleep, but its only for the face really.

> Kojic acid soap (as you already got) a brand one can try is Kojie-san (they also have a anti-aging soap as well) I dunno about any others

> Exfoliate your current tanned skin and moisturise. I'm talking mostly your arms and legs that you bare.

Feel free to add I really want this to become some useful copypasta because its always asked about

That sucks. Reading your post, I came to the same conclusion that the covers were probably too tight like a tight bandaid. I hope your skin is better now. Good morning
Panic has subdided, it was definitely just a too-tight-bandaid effect. It's always grossed me out to see that happen on my fingers with bandaids, so it was super freaky to see it over a large section of skin.
I'm completely fine now, no more discoloration. Though I do have that ring of glue residue just like you said, Anon! Though I was nervous to really scrub my skin last night, so I didn't really clean much off.

I have the circular sqishy kind. I had washed it off, stuck it on while it was still kind of wet, and then dabbed glue all the way around the edges. Now that I think about it, the moisture might have been what done it.
I'll try again bone dry tomorrow. I want to let them recover 100% today. Using the glue sparingly seems like a good idea, but anywhere I wasn't putting glue was puckering up. I'll see how the no water goes and then I'll give them air holes if that it doesn't work.

I have an important even to attend tonight, but my face is a mess. I went out to a different town a few days ago and I had an allergic reaction to some of the plant life there, and as a result my entire face is covered in red blotches and patches of dry, scaly skin and my lips are scaly and inflamed. I've been moisturising it but it has yet to help. I only wear make-up for special occasions a few times a year (such as this), but the regular stuff I would use (just bb cream and mascara) wouldn't cover this. How can I hide it? if I'm not using any eye-shadow of any sort at all, just going for a natural affair
1. primer
2. liquid foundation
3. concealer (then I put the tiniest amount of the liquid foundation back on top of the concealer, to make it a more "me" color
4. eyelid primer
5. yellow concealer I use only on my eyelids/inner crease
6. mineral veil/finishing powder /mattifying powder, whatever you call it, call it that
7. blush (I use powder)
8. a) eyeliner and b) mascara
9. lip stuff

I always do mascara/eyeliner last because I have a habit of getting powder fallout into my freshly painted black lashes and spending the rest of the day off black

if doing eye-shadow colors, I go step
4, 8a in pencil waterline, step 5 becomes eye-shadows, 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8a again but now liquid, 8b, 9. I only do my eyes first because I'm so messy that some of my finer eye-shadow powders cause fallout on my cheeks, I'd rather just wipe it off bare skin rather than mess up foundation ready face

You can do foundation first and then concealer second to cover up any spots that the foundation can't. However it might be easier to blend the concealer if you apply it first.

I used to do mattifying powder then bronzer then blush, but lately I have been lazy and just do powder last and only over shinier areas (like the t-zone) and to set concealer. Also instead of grabbing the same brush twice I can just blend the edges of my blush right after.

Basically it boils down to preference.

Yeah, it really does. Primer for eyeshadows do a few things:

-Keeps you eyeshadow from creasing and fading during wear (ie, lasts longer)
-Makes it much easier to blend your shadows
-Makes the pigments much more vibrant and true to color without being chalky.

Toofaced Shadow Insurance is awesome, as is the cult favorite Urban Decay Primer Potion (I use both)

For facial primer, there are a number of them out there that do a very good job. I'm a fan of smashbox facial primers as they have a number of different ones that cater to specific needs (ie, one is green to help calm down perpetually red complexions) and Benefit's Porefessional Primer is another really good one if you're looking at higher end products. That said, what I use on a pretty regular basis is actually an anti-chaf gel by monostat. It's a gel that turns to a powdery finish when applied that is usually used to keep thighs from getting a rash when they rub together, but it's got the same consistancy and ingredients as a lot of facial primers but it's about $6.00 for a 42 gram tube, as opposed to $18-35 for most mid to high end primers and works awesome.

I've been a makeup artist for a few years now and I use all these products depending on what my clients needs are. I've also used them at one time or another on myself and I have super fair Irish heritage skin that has rosey undertones and gets annoyed by anything.

If you've got a sephora near you, you're allowed up to three samples per visit per "world" (Makeup, Skin Care, and Fragrance) so if I were you I would go and get a couple samples of some things to try out and then when you've had a chance to use them you can go and purchase a full size. They also have a fantastic return policy so if you ever do buy something you end up not liking you can absolutely bring it back.

Does anyone have any sensible advice for a guy looking to get a semi-decent foundation for cosplay? I need reasonable coverage and I have oily skin. In the meantime, a good liner, mascara, and flexible eye shadow palette are your best bet. Since you're newer to make-up, neutrals and maybe one or two accent colors are best. (I prefer cream liners, personally. Drug store brands work fine.)
Your budget will determine what you get--like, I use drug store mascaras, primers, liners, moisturizers, and cleansers/make-up removers. But I swear by Korres foundation/primer/concealer (Sephora) and my favorite palette in forever has been the Naked 2 palette.

Make sure you have a daily moisturizer with SPF, and a good cleanser. I use Ponds (great make-up remover too.) I also have a BB cream for days I want SPF/moisture and a light foundation.

Also, a basic brush set is suggested. I used my fingers for the longest time and the applicators that came with the make-up and my acne got worse and it looked like a mess. I think I got my first set from Claires, another from Walmart, and some others from ELF. All cheap.

I'm still struggling on my brows too but maybe post a pic and some other anons can suggest some shapes? When I shape I just try to follow my natural eyebrow but make it a little more pristine

Also it sounds like you could use some eye primer for your lids, mine get greasy without it even if I don't wear makeup. Urban decay primer potion is what I use but there are others, just google. No idea about eyelash stuff, sorry.

I mostly shop at retailers like Sephora for my makeup, but it's not because I like the fancy brands. I do it because of ingredient quality. I always find it weird when people talk about "dupes" for things and how this $3 blush is an exact dupe for this $30 blush. Sure, maybe colorwise, but the $3 blush is going to be full of things like parabens and mineral oils and lower quality ingredients. Makeup is not regulated by the FDA and some weird stuff can sneak in there (though I think the ingredients used generally are FDA approved, it's the finish formulation that isn't).

Granted, this isn't always the case and yes, you can find some pretty fantastic stuff at the drugstore and some pretty awful stuff at Sephora, but you have to be conscious about what's important to you as a consumer. I'd much rather pay $50 for a Too Faced palette that's paraben free and made with real cocoa powder than $3.99 for a Jeese's Girl palette that's made in China and full of gunk.

Honestly it might be a good idea to go to a store and talk to someone, as scary as it may seem. Nordstrom and a few other stores have free makeover days (usually Saturday) where you could pop in just to get your face done and learn about products/application. Some stores also sell small traveler/sampling makeup kits that include some base products for a small amount compared to paying a lot for the regular version.

>Use a not-super-small, rounded, soft brush (pic related) with a gel/liquid eyeliner pot as close to your lashline as you can handle. You can miss it for miles, it's okay. It'll probably look thick. That's also okay. Smudge it around with your eye-touching skills and become smokey eyed raccoon. Go for a lighter brown color if you don't want to look too dramatic. Don't use a hard brush or a hard pencil eyeliner, don't use a fine, tiny, itsy bitsy brush, and don't use anything with a point. You're going for tiny step up over eyeshadow brush tip. Keep your hand light, you shouldn't be pressing into your eyelid. If you are, your brush needs more eyeliner on it. A lighter hand also means you won't be poking your eye, really. If it gets anywhere it shouldn't, it'll just be a light touch.
>Try again, but get closer to the lashline. Practice keeping a steady hand and an even edge. If you don't like it or think it's uneven, smudge it out again. Try holding the brush at an angle so that instead of brushing the whole brush along your lashline, you're using less fibers. You'll get a thinner line.
>Upgrade to thinner, harder, pointier brushes as you find yourself getting more and more comfortable. Don't buy expensive brushes. Find packs, sales, and cheapo brands.
>You can now use eyeliner.

I have hereditary dark circles, and one of the few things that help me is this flax seed eye mask. You put it in the freezer for about an hour, then you stick on your face before bed or in the morning before you get ready, and bam. Drastically reduced. They're still there, and I believe yellow corrector is supposed to help.
I use The Face Shop's dark circle corrector. It's a little brush with liquid makeup on it, and then a powder pact. (I forget what it's called, but it has owls on it.)

that's about my range. Honestly, it just takes time to get a good collection unless you want to drop a lot of money at one point.

I live in the US and have an ulta rewards card, a sephora rewards account (both free) about every month they have a 20% off coupon at ulta, also I started using brand makeup with bare minerals first, so I bought their starter kit and the brushes alone were worth it (it came with 3). The bare minerals website does sales about every 6-8 weeks, with stuff 10 to 75% off, and there always some deal with multiple brushes in there. I think I've only even bought 2 brushes at full price (each were about $25, specialty eye brushes), everything else was some sort of kit or sale, and I don't mind waiting a month or two to buy an item and get it on a large discount. I used to use ecotools (5 price brush set was like 11.99 at Target?) brushes which are very affordable and have held up well over 3+ years of use and washings, but I gradually phased them out. Speaking of washing your brushes, be sure to do it, it keeps them healthy and keeps your face free of nasty built up dirts, I don't have the money to be replacing my brushes all the time from misuse.

for concealers use the bare minerals correcting concealer. I tried their powder one too but it isn't as good at hiding darker marks. It's about $20, same as the befnefit concealer I'm thing of buying next to try it out

I really hate to break it to you anon, but the F.D.A. pretty much says on its Web site that companies can make just about any claim about their animal testing policies because there is no regulated definition of what is cruelty-free. It's kind of like the term "organic", it doesn't really mean what most people think it does.

Companies will write on packaging that their product is "not tested on animals," but may only refer to the item itself, not its ingredients. Or even better, some companies like Estee Lauder, Avon, and Mary Kay actually got sued a few years ago because they advertised their products as cruelty free because they didn't test the *American* products for resale on animals IN America, rather they tested everything on Chinese animals first and sold that makeup prototype to the Chinese first.

Dick move, but as the FDA admitted that there is "no legal definition" for the phrase "cruelty-free," the plaintiffs didn't have much of a case in the lawsuit.

So yeah, good luck finding something that is "cruelty free" but wasn't tested on animals, because at this point the whole cruelty free bit is an easy marketing campaign by the companies since there FDA label doesn't mean shit and there is no accountability.

Also Urban Decay may have started out as a cruelty free vegan brand, but they were bought last year by L’Oréal.

L’Oréal is based out of france and tests its ingredients (as opposed to the final product) on animals per European Union regulations. They also test both their ingredients and final products on animals in China because Chinese law requires that cosmetics companies pay for many of their products to be tested on animals in Chinese laboratories before they can be marketed in that country.

So yeah, Urban Decay has kept marketing the "cruelty free" label but it doesn't mean shit in relation to their parent company or their products.

laser hair reduction, when done properly, blocks the hair from growing back. an option that removes the hair folicles entirely is electrolysis. the problem with electrolysis is that it is more expensive. there isn't anything wrong with laser, it's just a different process and the success depends on factors like how dark the hair is

when people say hair "grows back" after laser, they're misunderstanding how laser works as well as how hair works. hair follicles aren't constantly producing hair; they produce hair in cycles with different follicles producing hair at different times. since laser can only destroy hair follicles by heating up hairs, it can't deal with all of the hair follicles in one treatment. at least that's my understanding of it

electrolysis isn't any quicker, however. electrolysis takes many, many, MANY session where the person performing it essentially zaps hair follicles one by one until every follicle in the area for removal is destroyed. it takes forever and costs a ton more than laser does because electrolysis requires such a ridiculous amount of hours of treatment, assuming laser will work for your hair/skin type. the best option, assuming laser is an option, is to get laser first !! done by a qualified practitioner or w/e !! until all the hair that can be deal with by laser is taken care of, followed up electrolysis to remove the few remaining hairs that laser couldn't deal with.

with that said, i'd really recommend just trying out shaving and waxing before considering laser or electrolysis because laser will easily be in the range of hundreds of dollars while electrolysis will cost more. as an example, for a man or something with facial hair like men have to entirely remove the beard/mustache area of hair, laser will cost somewhere around $1000 while an electrolysis only route can cost something absurd like $5k to $10k or higher.

How do I set my eyeliner/mascara? I have waterproof, but how I make them ultra smudge-proof as well?

I mix a little "brightening" concealer with my foundation and it comes out a decent paler shade.

Fuck me I have that same thing. Also on the folds where my legs meet my junk from tight underwear, I'm stick thin but have a giant ass and it's hard to find undies that fit in both waist and... leg, I guess, AND cover the whole ass.
I've had them for eons and they can't go away. I was scared I was diabetic or something.

Seconding the hell out of this question.

Use a good eye primer and a good eyeliner. I use Urban Decay's primer potion. It's worth every penny. I like UD's eyeliner, but a cheaper alternative is Nyx's pencil liners. (I use a revlon liquid liner on top usually, but I tend use pencil first to help keep my lines steady). Anyway, I have no problems with running or smudging and my eyemakeup remains perfect all day.

It's expensive but NARS semi-matte in Siberia is pretty pale. I'm pale to the point of being practically translucent and it works well for me.

Her lightest shade "42" was discontinued. The one up from that is way too dark for me.

>>7390656
I don't get darker in the summers at all. My skin stays the same shade year round. I really don't get a chance to save up money right now. Most of the time what spare cash I have goes to textbooks and school stuff, no matter how I look at it spending that much money on a foundation just for mixing it seems ridiculous.

I sampled it a while back when I had extra cash but it was way too yellow for me. I buffed and blended the hell out of it but it just didn't work. I'm kind of a neutral-ish undertone and it's a bitch to work with.

Well if that's what you need to do to get the shade you want, I'm not really sure why you'd consider it "just mixing". Besides, it'll last an eternity.

Okay, so, uh... before picking up cosplay, I didn't know how to wear makeup. I exclusively crossplay, so I learnt to do crossplay makeup and I have NO idea how to do makeup that doesn't make me look like a man, since you'd need to contour and stuff in different places, right? Are there any like... "how to simple makeup for retards" sorts of things? I just want to know how to do stuff that's like, appropriate for an office job, or something...

weeeell we're talking about foundation.

I can't imagine a living the kind of life where I thought it was a worthwile pursuit to get on 4chan and brag about owning a single mid-tier foundation. Homegirl asked for cheap foundation, so I gave her the palest ones I've tried. Can you stop embarrassing your dusty self yet?

Looking for BB Cream recommendations. I have combination skin that tends to look more on the dry side. I have some acne scars I'd like to cover, so it would be better to get something with good coverage. I want to save time since I get up really early for work and I hate having to stack on layers of concealer and shit to cover everything.

Hi, firstly, what the hell is this and why won't it go away? Also, does anyone have any advice on how to deal with my eyes?

The skin around and under them is so thin that you can see the veins underneath through, and they are kind of hollowed into my face. There's a lot of purple and red colouring in there, and I always look like I have two black eyes. I've tried a couple of concealers but I haven't found anything yet that really helps.

You got milia. I have a mild case of it but you seem to have one really large one. Consume more vitamin A and consider going to a dermatologist so they can take care of the big milium. As for the thin skin thing…nothing much you can do. I have the same sunken dark look to my eyes. I use a combo of concealers to try and reduce them, I can't get rid of them completely. What ever you do, don't exfoliate under the eyes thinking that it will get rid of the bumps; it will actually make it worse.

I have acne skin and I hate how make up makes me look. I've yet to see anyone pull off 'okay i put some foundation and powder on this pimply part and it looks just like the rest of my skin'. It always looks caked on, it never blends with the rest of the skin texture and is obvious from a mile away. I can't wait for my acne to stop, I'm so tired of covering this shit. Anyone else feel like this?

I have fine, thin hair that gets greasy after a day. I've learned I can't wash my hair every day like I used to, but having stopped that it hasn't really gotten better. When I wake up the next morning my hair is pretty much unsalvageable, especially when I have bangs so I have to try to pin those back.
I recently bought dry shampoo for my off days, but it doesn't really help much. I also feel like the volume shampoo I've been using has actually made my hair worse. I'm not sure whether to get conditioner or what to do with my hair since pretty much any hairstyle looks awful.

Try using a shampoo that has no sodium laurel sulfate in it. When I use my Nature's Gate shampoo, I don't need to wash my hair for at least three days. Sodium laurel sulfate is what helps shampoos get that rich sort of lather, but it also leaves residue on your hair. Be careful, because some shampoos like Jason will say that they're SMS free but still have sodium laureTH sulfate or some near-identical replacement in there.

Can anyone recommend a good white eyeliner pencil for the waterline? I have really eyeliner smudging prone eyes and it's been impossible for me to find one that stays.
