I feel like this was written by someone who hasn't had to deal with any sort of backlash and is just basically out of the loop or doesn't really bother to involve themselves with their own fandoms. It also doesn't sound like it's been written by someone who remembers what it was like to cosplay years ago. It wasn't until FFX and X2 did you see people running around as characters for a game that wasn't even out yet. Eh, even that is up for debate. She does also rely heavily on photoshop, uses cheap materials, has her husband wait on her hand and foot, and there have even been cases where upon meeting her in person, people said that her costumes didn't look as impressive as they do in her photo shoots. There's a shot of her as Scarlet Witch at her booth somewhere and the costume is completely unflattering, unlike her photo shoot version of the outfit. She looks fat and sports a camel toe. Her Jessica Rabbit was heavily shopped and when she debuted at DragonCon, she was actually mistaken for a drag queen a few times during the night.

Bless you. I wouldn't have a problem with these women if they'd just act a little more tactfully. I know that some people hurl the, "Wtf ignore them." card, but I feel like those people have never had to deal with a screaming child or a screaming, drunk person who is happy that they are in fact screaming and drunk. Realistically, one can only take so much and while getting annoyed and walking away as opposed to decking the drunk person is better, it still shouldn't need to happen to begin with. These events used to be fun. I remember when they were, but they're really not that fun anymore since cosplay has become something a bunch of outsiders have taken over. And, I know that there are those here who reject that sort of elitist mindset and think that we need to just "get over it". Yes, cosplay wasn't a super secret club, but it was something that was very different years ago. And, it's pretty disheartening to see people from your high school who used to actually harass you for doing what you did now suddenly the biggest fans ever, showing up in Party City costumes and dubbing themselves cosplayers.

These people are like Pink Hats; They ruin something for others so much so that it causes a real impact within the community and culture and nobody can deny that.

I know when I had a great workout schedule I looked younger or may not younger is the right word... but my face and features looked healtheir too I think. i think sweating and blood flow helps your skin just as much as your muscles. Seriously, why do people need to make up silly stories? Isn't 'Yaya isn't that attractive, she's not very nice IRL, her costuming skill is overrated, and she has a massive ego and for all these reasons I dislike her' enough? Someone doesn't need to be literally Hitler in order to validate your dislike of them. Yaya's plenty unlikable without needing to be some mustache twirling supervillain who plunders bank accounts, cheats on her anchor husband, and masterminded 9/11.
It doesn't help the case of people who dislike Yaya and, in fact, hurts their case by making them look really petty and kind of insane in their vitriol. I honestly have no opinion on Yaya either way. I've never met her in person and honestly for all the reasons I just mentioned I find it pretty hard to take anything said on this board about her seriously.

But I still think the only valid reasons to dislike her as a person would be for her big ego and if you know for a fact that she's not nice IRL (in other words, non-rumors and things you've experienced/seen, not just heard about).
Her attractiveness and skills are reasons not to like her cosplay or her as a cosplayer, but not her in general as a person.
