Saw someone on the stream yesterday cosplay Mirai Nikki and I think I fell in love

How was the size? I know a few people who couldn't go because flights were canceled. Was there noticeably less people?

I'm not really into Lolita like that, but I really love this shot from the con. She was just so natural, I had to ask for a picture, as something about the way she texted and didn't break frame struck me. Thought I was being weird until another guy asked to take the same shot.

I am home. Boy, this was a weird con.

I've already figured out what I need to fix about this Speedball for Awesomecon/Otakon (take in waist, buy better binder, make hood, add patches, longer wig), but since it looks like far less of a hot mess than last year's version and is way more comfortable, I'm satisfied with it. Kinda bummed that the only people who finally figured out who I was decided to bitch at me for Civil War. Who the fuck does that?

It was fun enough, mostly a socializing con. Shouted my voice hoarse for the Marvel shoot but people really enjoyed it, so it looks like I'll take care of Awesomecon and Otakon shoots too. Will try and get some pics off my phone that I took of hall costumes.

What I can tell you that the convention was a hot/cold mess. Cold due to the snow and hot because of Friday pre-reg. Oh you should have seen the katsucon gazebo Twitter.

This was also the first time I could not make it to opening ceremonies. (I hope someone recorded it)

You know, up until today (yesterday? I guess it's technically Monday now), I would have agreed. But I saw a panel on Sunday about what it means to be an "otaku" in both the US and Japan, and based on the US definition I've come to realize the reason so many people that appear to be from non-anime fandoms congregate at anime cons is because anime is a secondary fandom for them. It's a sort of universal binding glue, that everyone at an anime con can and does enjoy even if they aren't as into it as others. It's a way in- a way to interact and talk with people about a shared interest, maybe introduce something they like the other doesn't know about. The reason this sort of thing is accepted is because the old guard at anime cons know what its like to be excluded from their time at scifi conventions where all the congoers at them were elitist as fuck. They were nowhere near as accepting as anime fans.

As long as you realize the con IS about anime and the guests, video showings and main events pertain to anime or Japanese culture, I'm good. Cosplay about whatever you want.

Sadly Katsucon doesn't seem to be fond of that solely based on the fact one of their biggest guests was Richard Horvitz, but AUSA and Otakon still do that, so I'm good.

Photographer here. You know what, that's definitely probably it. I try not to take pictures of people without their full cosplays on but I forgot what Ryuko and Satsuki's footwear looked like, was too concentrated on their upper halves.
