Someone said this question would be better suited for the general, so I'm posting it here.

I'm wondering if I can wear pic related to Disneyland. Wearing it with a plain brown wavy wig, no gaudy makeup, jewelry, or lenses. I know they sometimes give lolitas a hard time, so I wanted to run this by someone who has possibly gone in lolita, and knows what they pick out. Was thinking about packing my head bow away, and putting it on the park.

>> No.7340532

>>7340527
I haven't been, but of the loli coords I've seen that make it through are more casual. This might be too princessy.

>> No.7340554

I have a question about buying/selling.
If you notice there is a defect in a piece after you leave feedback, is it okay to contact the seller with questions, still?
I just noticed something on a piece I bought, and I really don't think there is any way it could have happened at my house.

I've seen more elaborate coords in Japan Disneyland, but in the US it might be a problem. Try packing your petti and accessories away and maybe wear a coat over your dress, and then putting the rest on once you enter the park.

>>7340554
Ehh. On the one hand if you feel the seller has been very receptive and friendly up to that point, it may be worth a try.

But from the seller's POV I really wouldn't look upon this so innocently, it would seem to me like the buyer was having regrets or did something to the item and is panicking to try to get money back for it. Unless the seller did know already, but that's almost certainly unable to be proven.

The blouse I'm wearing is even plainer than Lor's, and her head bow is definitely on the Alice-y side. She says to wear prints, but I feel like most of the dresses I have with prints are even louder than what I have.

>>7340582

This sounds like a good idea, but how exactly do I tuck away my petticoat? They do bag checks, and my petti will take up the whole space, won't that be kind of weird?

Thanks for the tips everyone, I'm going for my birthday, so I want this to go as smoothly as possible.

>> No.7340676

>>7340650
I'd go in wearing the petti. They can hassle you after you enter the park too, so it's best if you're upfront about that since it's a big part of the outfit. Even though Lor has gotten in without problems it's still a bit of a crapshoot as to which employees you'll encounter.
Still I think maybe they've gotten a little more familiar with lolita in general there. Lor and her friends go all the time, plus there was a big meet last year that didn't have problems. If you're with a group of friends or family in normal clothes that could also help you look less like a park employee to other guests.

Your wig would get fucked up on rides, it'd be annoying as hell to strap in to anything. And if you're paying all that money to go to disney, and you don't plan on actually going on rides or anything, it seems like a huge waste of money.

I've worn some Bodyline to DL for Halloween, petti, wig and all, and didn't have a hard time on rides or getting around. You just hold your wig, and adjust it once you get off the ride. The only ride that really did a number on it was space mountain, and that's the most action packed ride I can think of.

This dress is extremely comfortable, and looking at other people that have made it in to DL wearing much brighter sweet coords, I don't think mine is all that excessive, so I'll take my chances. I think the coat and bringing in the head bow and petti separately will help too.

I don't really have a lot of time so I don't think anything online would make it to me in time.

I have an a-line petti from Classical Puppets and when I pull it down to fill out the bottom of the dress, it just looks like I have a big butt or something.

It's chemical lace (or 'water soluble' in Chinese), meaning they machine embroider the pattern onto a material that is then chemically removed in a wash, so it must be a production error. I doubt you can get a new dress but maybe a free length of lace mailed to you to fix it?

>>7341283
Haha, soul animal. I just got mine in the mail a couple days ago and the length + shape is a bit weird. You're gonna want a cupcake petti worn low down on your hips, I have the Classical Puppets violent cupcake one and it looks great. oh, i think i saw this kind of method talked about either on here or on lse a while ago; it's to try and make it so there's less scamming when trading. she'll pay you a set amount for the dress, and then you'll send it. that way if you end up flaking, she can pull the money via claim. if it arrives safely, she'll invoice you the same amount, then after it's paid she'll send her side of the trade out. this way if she fails to send, you can get the cash back through paypal claim. obviously, the set amount of money you agree to send to each other has to be able to cover the cost of the dress completely.

>> No.7341947

>>7341908
I have never done it that way before. With trades that require and invoice, usually you agree on a shipping day, invoice each other at the same time for the same agreed amount, add tracking, and if one of you doesn't get a tracking number then you can claim the value of the invoice back. It also stops one party being out of pocket.

I'm sorry if my explanation was confusing! I am in no means trying to scam you, but I do want to be protected as well.

If we mailed the dress out on the same day, what would happen if one person was dishonest and never sent there's out? You can't get the dress back through PayPal and you can't file a claim on a transaction that had no cash value to it.

Because criticism puts them on the defensive and the way that they can cope is to disguise their resentment behind persecution. Plus, they're probably young and seeking a non-conformist fashion. Thus, discovering that their special frilly fairy fashion actually has guidelines to define it turns it into just another popular-kid hobby.

Take a look at their blogs sometime, and count how many anti-prep or anti-mainstream rants there are. There's usually a correlation.

Ignore what everyone said and will say. I've been bidding on mbok for years and I am near fluent in Japanese, so I am not using google translate to try and wade through stuff.

It isn't that auctions require a self introduction (this had to have come from bad google translate or misinformation). The issue is that a lot of sellers don't like it if a bidder's profile is totally blank with no self-introduction/basic explanation of their terms of sale and buying. To sellers, it makes them feel uneasy that the bidder may be a troll driving up the price with no intention to buy.

Here is an example of a person with "no self introduction" on her profile. Most sellers would delete her bid because of this. http://www.mbok.jp/_u?u=7139254

I don't know where people got the idea that you have to use the "ask the seller a question" form on mbok and write out a self-introduction there for every auction you want to bid on. If you need to ask the seller a question about the item condition, measurements, additional photos, a buy it now price, et cetera, that's what the question form is for.

Some sellers do have it in their terms that if you have any negative/neutral feedback, want to use a particular payment method, etc the list goes on... that you need to contact them via the question form first and get permission to bid.

Many don't want to sell to men because creepy fetish weirdos, and some don't want to sell to foreigners either because they had a bad experience with a shopping service in the past *coughcelgacough* so they simply say no foreigners period, or they get people who can't speak a lick of Japanese, like Yunni. They don't read the seller's terms of sale at all. If you ask them to bid they just go do it without checking anything. This leads to Celga requesting shipment/payment methods the seller doesn't accept.

The worst part is that Celga will win an auction and immediately contact the seller and demand they turn off their spam filter to allow PC addresses (most mbok auctions take place through communication via cell phone email) and then they demand that the seller send them an email with all of the auction details.

It's terribly rude and obnoxious.

Is it really very frowned upon to bring your SO to a meet? I'm extra spaghetti and feel the most comfortable in situations like that when I have someone I know with me. My SO isn't super into the fashion, but he's far less awkward than I am and would probably be more social than me regardless.

I think most people will be understanding and not get butthurt if you want to take some pics with just the theme participants. But saying other styles can't attend the meet at all is just stupid. There's few enough lolitas to begin with. Wouldn't you want the most people possible to attend and make your meet a success? In a perfect world where everyone has a huge wardrobe containing every style, sure, the idea of a cohesive meetup like that is cool, but it's just not realistic. I have one of their gothic/non lolita pieces (the regency-esque dress they released a while back) and it's quite lovely. Their quality on construction is as good as on the petticoats. The only problem I had is that the skirt is a bit see-through, because the skirt isn't lined, due to its shape. A fact which was visible in the stock photos and I ignored. Well the actual shipping for me is $12 + $5 insurance which isn't overcharging as far as I can tell. It's the $50 sales tax on top of that that's killing me (also the thought of giving Lynda money, but that's another story).

I wish AP's Japanese site would just ship overseas directly. If tiny brands like Chantilly can manage it, surely they can. Unfortunately they just don't give a hoot.

Super sweet lolita here, need some advice.
Coords are pink/lavender reliant but there's no pink blouse in my wardrobe that's a nice blue-toned pink, only gross, weird, warm-toned pink that's not quite peach but definitely doesn't match the pink in Milky Planet or typical AP pink dresses. Is a blouse that color worth commissioning? I'm a size that's usually just too big for brand blouses unless they have back shirring, and fuck fully-shirred blouses and Bodyline (though sadly Bodyline usually makes very cool-toned pink blouses that would work with my predominantly sweet wardrobe, but their fabrics are crap).

Should I commission someone? I searched a bunch of indie designers to no avail. English Charm is out of business, so I'm screwed there. Already ordered from The Floral Notebook and got a weird shade of somewhat peach-toned pink. Do I need to just get a white cotton blouse, swallow my pride, and dye it pink? pic related is the color I need.

Actually the two stores used to be the same, but the designer and the owner fell out. The designer runs boguta and the owner runs lolitas. I suggest you get everything that exists in both stores at Boguta, since the designer kept the previous patterns and the ones as Lolitas are sorta different IRL since they redrafted shit by eye. Anything new from Lolitas (within last 6 months or so) should be as pictured though.

I say yes, since they're not really that expensive to commission. Have you tried maybe Mystery Garden? I know they do commissions and even though they're not sweet, if it's just a blouse of a specific colour, you might find it works for you. Since the colour you're looking for is also somewhat specific, you could benefit from sending a sample of something the right colour to them by mail.

Not necessarily.
For one the quality is about half of what you'd get for brand. Sometimes they do keep the brand name on the print. The print quality tends to be a lot lower and there's a lot more print errors in them. And sometimes they change the cut of the dresses as well. Things like custom lace and stuff they can't replicate, so that tends to be off as well.

Cheapest decent coord you can do is about $80 but that's not counting whether you'll be wearing a dress you actually like
eg.
Bodyline OP - >$50 (including their shipping)
Bodyline plain tights - $4
Aliexpress/eBay Mary janes - $20
Bunch of eBay accessories - $6

You can go even cheaper than that but you want to be buying a dress you actually want otherwise why are you wearing lolita? If your favorite dress were Twinkle Constellation in Yellow for example now your total coord will cost you approx $300
