I tried. I have a nice petti, it's the right shape. I've looked at reviews and asked around, the dress just doesn't do pettis. it kind of sucks, but I'm buying another new dress once my tax refund comes in.

I'm having a lot of trouble finding accessories that go as well, because the buttons are an odd color brass (though I do love brass jewelery) and I'm not sure what else to look at. I'm still working on it, though. I'd like to find a nice head bow, one of those flatter ones that lay down on your head rather than being giant and sticking up.

I thought it looked really nice, and was fairly straightforward in terms of coording. I thought, "Busy dress means simpler accessories, this should be easy."

Upon closer inspection, I see what you mean about it not poof-ing. Unfortunately, you can't, in all good faith, call that lolita. It's a good outfit, but without the right silhouette, it just doesn't fit the aesthetic.

be careful with HMHM, they take, MONTHS to send out product and a lot of the time they use weird fabrics that do not drape as well as you think they do based on stock photos. I've bought about 4 pieces from them, a jsk, a blouse, and two skirts, and only one of those was usable.

Cosplay here requires handmaking + looking decent + decent photography to not get slammed on. Lolitas are just fashion shooting and all they need to do is piece together premade clothes. They have it easier for posting here.

On the subject of naval piercings: Get a clear one, they're less noticeable and easier to photoshop out, but don't get the ones specifically for navel piercings, they're huge and ugly. Get an eyebrow retainer instead, they're the same size, slightly flexible, and much, much smaller. I have the same problem, all of my piercings close up in about 12 hours.

2 things that could have helped your cosplay here are false eyelashes and better fabric. Otherwise, its very cute and your prop looks accurate :)
Other people seem to say that clear piercings are less noticable. Also maybe use some concealer on the tattoo? There are youtube tutorials for those sorts of things though.

Well I am a little bit biased as she is a really good friend of mine, but I love her work. She can do some really amazing things with lighting, and is lot of fun to work with. She will also often take time before a shoot to research the series or character(s) so she will have an idea of how best to pose and shoot people, which I find is rare among many photographers.

This is a textbook example of a closet cosplay.

First of all, what the hell is on your hat, badges pins? Make them go. Use fabric paint or applique to make Touko's hat properly.
Next, wear a shirt more opaque to hide that sports bra.
Touko's vest is also a proper vest, almost like a waistcoat. Not a dangly piece of cloth.
She also doesn't wear socks that high.
Ge a wig too.

It's fine as a casual cosplay and it's fine if you have fun in it, but don't expect /cgl/ to tell you it looks great.
There is SO much room for improvement. You don't look gross, though. Lots of potential!

This was the last cosplay I made, which was one year ago; Tama from Sasami-san@Ganbaranai. I also made (most of) Sasami. I was really rushed though since we started late. I had to finish in the hotel room even so there's a lot of missing things I wish I could have added. Things like the trim on the bottom of Tamas dress, her shoes, and the red cording all over Sasamis PJs. But overall I'm happy with how they came out and that I actually finished them enough to wear.
