I'm not particularly busty.
My underbust is 28in (71-72cm) and my max bust measurement is 81-83cm. I'm also fairly short and small/slim in general, so it was really rather shocking to me that it fit me so horribly. I do think that my chest might be a little lower than average, though.
I haven't tried it on again with the straps lower or a petticoat on (tried it on at my boyfriend's apartment when it came in the other day). Hopefully those things will fix it. Not to mention, I think the dark colourway won't look so awkward, so it's a good thing I ordered both; now if only that one will arrive.

Don't know if anyone has anything coming from Clobbaonline right now, but I had ordered KL's jellyfish dress with Martin and added on a Loris bag as well because why not - he told me that the purse and dress are ready for me, I sent the rest of the payment (Put a deposit in and then paid the rest when the dress arrived), he emailed me back saying that he'll let me know when he ships it out.
That was on January 13th and I still haven't received any word that he's shipped the item out... also worth mentioning that his usual sign off at the end of this emails included "R.I.P. Mum 1/11th/2014 4:45AM". I completely understand that he could be going through a rough time right now but I need that dress by February 12th.

Ok here goes! There's quite a lot of stuff I found so bear with me

http://uni.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/alone/1373206289/101-200

This thread's called "Well, we're lonely so let's talk about lolita clothes." The main topic seems to be men who are interested in dressing in lolita. They give each other advice on having broad shoulders in brand blouses and they reminisce about how Akiba used to be. I translated a couple posts:

125:
But compared to other donkis, akiba’s donki has a lot more Lolita stuff.
In the old days, generally shops in places like harajuku had everything.
Anyway things like bodyline and maid dresses were a lot more common, but you could wear all-out Lolita fashion. And there were also things like gosupan.

These days, it’s sad because there’s nothing but boxed cosplay.
I hope soon we can return to the old days.

I used to buy things like mini hats and underwear.

130: Unfortunately, Lolita items haven’t made a comeback in Akiba’s Donki.
Because of suspicions of plagiarized designs, they no longer carry Lolita items.
Even in other Donki stores, it’s unlikely that they carry Lolita.

Things I could use:
Wig
Frilly Lolita knee socks
Petticoat
Minihat
Female underwear
That’s about it I think

http://uni.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/sale/1388744785/1-100

This thread was more boring. It's about lucky packs. It's the busiest thread I found though so I guess it deserves mention. It was kinda cool to see them talk about waiting in line and stuff though.

>> No.7327323

>>7327321
http://awabi.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/net/1380989212/

This is such a cool one! It's called "lolita watch thread 50." I think. They all just chat. It's pretty slow, but the stuff they talk about is so familiar. Like they gossip about efamous people, talk about how old is too old for lolita, dieting, buying brand vs. cheaper clothes... I'd love to get the whole thing translated because I feel like japanese lolitas get put on a pedestal, but that's a big project. Maybe someday when I'm bored.

Oh and on the top of the chat thread there's this link: http://lori.alink2.uic.to/ (you may have to click through an ad screen.) The third table down is a list of japanese lolita blogs. A lot of them are password protected or now inactive, but it's pretty hard to find good ones so maybe this is a good place to look if you're interested. If you wanna know more japanese lolita blogs let me know, I have a couple other blog-specific resources I can share!

There was one other really creepy weird thread of guys who wanted lolita girlfriends. I should have saved it, it was pretty hilarious but I don't feel like tracking it down again.

There's no lolita board. It'd be a lot easier to find if there was. I search ゴスロリ and ロリィタ (NOT ロリータ, THAT'S PORN) either in 2ch's search box to find it in thread names or in google with 2ch next to it. You sorta have to know some japanese though to sift through the junk. I've found some stuff in general threads in futaba, too, although those are harder because futaba moves so fast and it's not archived.

Futaba's cool, though. I once found an article about a lolita named mioko who killed herself in high school because of bullying. It was actually a big deal in Japan apparently; the parents sued the school for a bunch of money iirc. Anyway on the anniversary of her death, her friends and 55 year old mother dress in lolita and hold a party for her.

I really don't want to argue with you or be confrontational, but... you're wrong. I'm sorry. ロリタ doesn't mean anything at all. I can't even type it because the software used to predict what I'm typing doesn't even recognize it... I had to copy paste it.

There seems to be some debate in the japanese lolita community on which spelling of lolita is correct. They have the same problem of association with nabokov's lolita, so a lot of them combat this by spelling their lolita as ロリィタ because in searches ロリータ turns up a lot of porn. That's not to say some don't use this to mean the fashion! They do! It was the original spelling, in fact. That's why it's on the GLBs. But as far as internet searches go, they use ロリィタ or ゴスロリ instead.

I found some japanese yahoo answers questions about it.... I'll translate one hold on

What kind of idiot needs fancy software to write in katakana? Are you using your phone? That's the only explaination for that or why it would "predict" what you're trying to type, but most phones don't work that way. ロリタ can actually refer to lolita fashion by people not in the fashion but it is just the written name "Lolita"

The other anon is half right though, ロリrefers to loli as in lolicon ロリコン.

While ロリータ is pronounced more like "rori~ta" than the name, it's spelled like that to differentiate from loli/lolicon.

Question:
What’s the difference between ロリータ and ロリィタ?

On the internet I find people who get mad at people who write ロリータ instead of ロリィタ.
In that conversation, they said to use ロリィタ to mean clothes.

So what’s the clear difference between the two?

Answer:
When people see ロリータ, a lot of people associate it with the meaning of pedophilia.
Because of that, to make a clear distinction, when talking in relation to clothes, people write ロリィタ.
To make searching on the web easier – that’s the meaning.

ok, there. I translated the shortest reply but there are a few other answers saying roughly the same thing. I don't really mind if you guys believe what you want to believe, though, so I'm gonna stop spending time on this now.

Sorry for the crappy phone pic, but I need some advice. Does thia dress make me look like a blob as badly as I think it does? I'm planning on loosing a bit of weight and need to get fitted for a new bra but I'm not sire if it'll help enough. Is there a way to modify this to fit better or am I going to have to make a skirt out of it?
I also have no idea how to coord this as the brown is different from what I thought, any blouse suggestions for this? My measurements are 28 under bust, 36 over bust and a 28" waist that i'm working to get down to 24-26" if that helps at all.

that's sorta the nature with fully shirred dresses. That's why I avoid those dresses at ALL costs. There's almost never a way to make them look good, as they will bunch up and make you look like you have rolls where you don't.
Some things that may help though:
-wear a bolero/outwear to cover it
-wear a waist-cinching belt
-wear both
You could possibly wear a long bolero and wear a waist cinching belt over it to kind of disguise it. Wear something like pic related could also work
That's about all I can think of. Once you slim down it won't be as obvious but it'll still be there.

I actually bought these tights to wear with haenuli's stained glass dress and they look fine.

Honestly though, I think the dress looks better with bright, jewel coloured tights to match some of the colour in the stained glass in the windows. You're never too tall or short for lolita!

You just gotta accommodate your size. Unfortunately a lot of brand sweet clothes will just barely cover your butt at 5'9'' but there is always custom sized lolita makers (Taobao, Indie etc), which you'll probably need anyway since your skeletal construction still may not accommodate some brands clothing anyway.

They recommend Classic/Gothic because brands like Innocent World do long versions of otherwise too-short dresses and generally targeting taller people anyway.

Actually
Consider she's sending off a ring/necklace/bracelet.
Parcels from Adelaide to most places in Australia are $8.25 tracked for that 500gm satchel, and Parcel Post (ie your own packaging) is $6.95. Both are tracked.

So.....Why the fuck is she charging flat rate $4-$5 more than what it really costs? Or does she price adjust? By the looks of how she writes it, very likely not...

P.S. Express is $10.55 not $13.95...

Who the fuck puts a tiny ass plastic ring in a 500gm and 3kg parcel? $20 internationally? I swore I shipped a skirt to the US for cheaper than this and it was tracked!

Organdy/organza. Chiffon isn't as common since it's more delicate and requires more fabric for the same effect, though you see it rarely (Dear Celine made one, as I recall). It works better for underskirts. Hoops aren't used more for the inconvenience- apart from being unwieldy, you need a separate crinoline on top of that too to cover the hoops.

However, like >>7334653 says, you'll need a full-length petticoat to cover the ribs of the hoop skirt so that your dress doesn't have creepy ribs.

I'd like to find something A-line, a JSK or short sleved OP. Grey, black, or brown colored. Quality wise, I was happy with the first two dresses, and I don't plan on wearing them a whole lot, maybe 2-3 times a month to go out.|

People don't really get uppity over clothing design replicas, there is only so many designs people can create on certain items, if everyone got a bit annoyed over that kind of thing we may as well say that brands are ripping eachother off making similar-ish white, bell skirt long sleeved dresses or something.

Honestly I'm pretty sure all brands use random art they find and trace over it, so I don't really care much about the art theft aspect, I'm just an elitist fuck and believe that lolita is about decadence and spending money and looking like you spent money, like a princess, and people who buy replicas are just making it some super inclusive hugbox bullshit fashion. They're always the same kind of "i do what i want and don't give a fuck, i'll spend my money how i feel" types of people who think that everyone's jelly that they spent $50 on their chinese bootleg version of something.
I know that japan isn't some magical land of high quality or anything like that, but if you're talking brand vs. replica, the original is always going to leave a better impression, and the ones who about that aren't the ones you should care about. I don't think so since they pay artists to draw and design the prints? Ignorant people are going to think you're a freak no matter what and other lolitas obviously know better, so wear it because it's a freaking gorgeous bonnet and it goes with the dress perfectly. Then you thought 'wow these are reeeaaallly pushing the little girl envelope' and then it turned out they were little girl's dresses. So your first reaction being 'wow they really look like little girl's dresses' is not a problem because they in fact, were little girl's dresses, so the reason your first impression was that they were pretty kiddie looking was not because they were lolita, but because they were in fact, kid's clothes. Does... that make sense at all? Like, when you look at a spread of MM dresses you don't think 'wow little girl dresses?' you think 'wow, beautiful classic dresses!' because that's what they are meant to look like.

You dont need to color match everything. Especially things that arent going to be seen like bloomers, and if you are going to have a lot of white, just get a white petticoat. It doesnt matter if you wear that with black.

Also if you want things that have blue in it, start adding that to your accessories. Moite does enough blue that you should be able to find enough that would work together.

You don't need both a white and black petti unless you also want to layer them for crazy poof, or are getting them in different lengths. I guess it's time to go hunting now for pieces!

How do people store bonnets? I have a hatbox that fits one of them, but the others are too big for it unless I bend them to fit (which I'm assuming is a bad idea), and I'm not seeing larger sized hatboxes online.

I've used large shoe boxes before and also put a couple on a wig head.

If you want to get it new, you will have to get a reseller as moite's shop doesnt do international orders. I know CDjapan sells moite but not sure of anywhere else.

Otherwise second hand every now and then. People who do gothic are collectors, so it isnt a big pull of getting the newest thing. This does mean that there will be less being sold 2nd hand, but also that the price of pieces will stay pretty high. Doesnt help that the euros get a lot of moite too.

What are the top 5 mistakes (or I guess most common mistakes in general) that new lolitas make coming into the fashion? I'm a newcomer and don't want to fuck up or some off as ita.

IMO:

>Buying something before thinking about how (and if they are able) to coord it

>Buying from somewhere shitty without doing any research then crying about it afterwards

>Trying to mix too much normalfag stuff in to a coord and just looking like a sad offbrand mess

>Misbalanced coords (too much of a color in one area, or not enough of a random color thrown in, too much crap on their head and nothing elsewhere, or not enough stuff on at all, etc...)

>Trying to post all over the place and asking questions that could be easily answered in a simple search without doing any research first and lurking for a while to learn the ropes.

Off the top of my head.

>thinking petticoat is not a neccessity (sure was my biggest mistake)

>trying to put a personal *unique* spin on the style before even grasping the basics

>clashing, too vibrant colors or same washed out color on every single item

>thinking white, offwhite and ivory are the same thing and/or interchangeable

>wearing too many patterned items at once. Bonus points if every pattern is different

Thanks!

I just bought my second Moitié piece ever and I'm so happy. I had been eyeing it for a long time and suddenly I saw there was a discount on the dress so I grabbed it. One step closer to my dream wardrobe.

Also, I have a medusa piercing (pic related). Can that work for gothic or is it a no-go?

That dress is lovely. I wouldn't worry about piercings in gothic. Personally I don't like the look of piercings with lolita but with a lot of gothic looks, it works just fine, especially Moitie style ones. Basically the closer you get to straight up goth and the further from cute, the better it works imo.

Why not? I dont really see a reason why you wouldnt, it is a piercing you have already, and you probably wont really want to take it out just to wear clothes. Some people will not like how it looks, but that doesnt mean you cant do it.

You'll never please everyone but I don't think it's a problem, especially in gothic.
